Hitting his stick made Leolin jump in surprise slightly, his feathered mane poofy from her antics and he looked quite like a small chick. Chasing after her when she flicked his beak with her tail, Leo tried to muster up what courage he had to be a bit more bold. The male griffin chirpped as he nuzzled the girl's mane, and moved to preen behind her ear affectionately. For a male, he certainly acted subserviant- but then again, his bland colors had given him a bit of an inferiority complex.

When Trill came to investigate, Leolin ignored the younger griffin. The lad would certainly be something when he was older, but for now, Leolin felt sure he'd be able to chase the juvenile off if he tried to butt into Leo's attempted romantic moment.

Sighing exasperatedly when she spotted the two griffins, Laura looked to Silence once more. "I'm sorry, but the griffins seem to be acting childish. They'll be here in a moment so I can splint the arm..."

Trill's tail dropped disappointedly as the older male made it quite clear that he was not worthy of his attention. He considered - very briefly - making an issue of it, but quickly decided against it. Though he might be able to rival the slim, sleek racer in size, he was younger and had been raised very differently. Fighting was something he had been trained to do, but he had been trained to kill or maim his opponents by any means necessary. He had also been trained that the only acceptable reasons to fight were in defense of a human or a mate.

He sniffed a dismissal of Leolin, and therefore of his companion Kedri as well, and returned to Silence, giving the other male with his faint brindles a wide berth. If there was to be an altercation, he would not be the one to start it, nor to provoke another into it. Chade's red gaze was cool, distant and disconcerting to Trill. He did not know how the playful, exuberant chick Chade had been had managed to grow into such a somber juvenile.

"It is nothing. I appreciate your help," Silence said.

Privately, she thought that the other two griffins were undisciplined, but she reminded herself that the Eyrie trained griffins to be disciplined from the moment they hatched, and that not everyone had been raised at the Eyrie. She could not continue to hold others to standards of which they knew nothing. It was unreasonable.

Meshach tilted his head to one side and then the other, and back once more, snake-like. The commotion was beginning to bore him, and he wanted to take her away from it, take her somewhere quiet and safe. But he could tell that wasn't what she wanted. For whatever reason, she wanted to stay here and let the other humans tend to her. He didn't approve, but he would acquiesce.

When laura got the sticks off the grifffins, the woman began to place Silence's arm between them.

"I'm going to count to three, ok?" Laura murmured, positioning the cloth of the sleeve around the woman's arm. "One... two..."

She pulled tightly before three, fastening the limb tightly to the sticks. Had she given the proper timing, Silence would have tensed and made it that much harder for it to splint right. She gave Silence a moment, hoping she wouldn't scream before answering her earlier question. "My grandmother found Leolin with a broken leg as a chick and he's lived as part of the family ever since. He's as old as I am, just about." Laura, who had recently reached twenty, thought Leolin was in prime condition as a racer. After all, he had plenty muscle now to beat the smaller ones, and had more endurance than they did. Without the bulk of a war griffin, Leolin would have no problem substituting that girth for speed.

Cooing softly now that Trill had gone away, Leolin lay before the lady griffin's feet to paw up at her- almost like a kitten after a bit of string. He'd never been able to wrap his brain around the notions females got in their heads- even his owner for that matter, who masqueraded as a boy from time to time- but he knew they enjoyed 'cute' and 'cuddly'. This little stunt earned him many a scrap from the family's table when he was a hatchling; maybe Kedri would like it as well?

Kedri clicked her beak in amusement and preened at Leolin's neck feathers. He wasn't a particularly colorful male, no, but he was quite entertaining.

Nyhali watched Kedri, a look on her face somewhere between amusement and annoyance. 'Ah, Kedri, Kedri, Kedri, you'll flirt with any adult male you run across but will you know how to act when you actually find a male you truly want to be with?' She shook her head, well aware of the fact that she hadn't been much better before the things of her life had so drastically changed. She and Kedri were like the same person sometimes. "Is there anything else we can do?"

Leolin clicked his beak and stretched back as Kedri preened him. He seemed to thuroughly enjoy it, and didn't realize the lady griffin was such a flirt. He nuzzled his beak against her, looking quite pleased with himself. After all, Kedri was the first female to show him such attention.

"no, I don't think so..." Laura looked to the two griffins, her brow furrowing slightly. "I'm sorry about Leolin. Most griffins don't pay him much mind. Your pet's mighty friendly it seems." Poor Leolin... Laura foresaw heartbreak in his future.

Kedri continued to preen him for a moment until she found a loose feather and plucked it out gently. She played with it in her beak for a moment and then stuck it on Leolin's head so that it stuck up between his ears. There! He had a fancy crest now. She clicked her beak in amusement and trilled softly.

As for Nyhali... well, she didn't really feel comfortable sitting there if she was of no use, but Kedri seemed to be enjoying herself. Suddenly she realized she'd never addressed Silence's question. "Ah... Kedri was a gift from my noble-brothers. Renad, the elder, his griffon had a clutch and I recieved one of the chicks after they hatched."

Blinking in surprise, Leolin clacked his beak as he looked up to her. The little griffin sat up, and practicly pounced on Kedri in play. He was far more used to rough-housing, and didn't understand how this sort of behavior might upset a lady. Poor poor undersocialized griffin...

Kedri was slightly startled and backpedaled out from under/away from Leolin. She clacked her beak at him, more confused than annoyed, and then for no apparent reason extended a wing and let it flop down on his head.

Looking hurt by this turn of events, Leolin cringed when she thwaped him on the head with her wing. Leo whined quietly, edging forward on his belly towards her as if trying to win her back. The poor love-struck fool's face was bright red, not knowing just what he could do to get back in her good graces. It seemed Kedri had Leolin wrapped around her little claw for the time being.

Kedri hadn't really thwapped him. At least, that hadn't been her intention. She let her wing sit on his head until he'd crawled to far for it to remain comfortable and folded it back up. She turned to the side and started preening said wing, keeping one eye on Leolin and flicking her tail past his beak in what looked to be an unconscious gesture. She was pretending not to pay attention to him for a moment to see what he'd do.

Trying to smile, Leolin lifted his neck to try to preen behind Kedri's ear once more. He didn't know if she'd respond, but so long as it got him some attention, he didn't mind too much.

Kedri chirped happily and let him preen, feathers fluffing up and eyes half-closing in that way that said either she was rather enjoying that... or she was feeling sleepy.

Nyhali doubted she was sleepy since she'd only been awake for about two hours...

A deep rumble of a coo came from deep in Leolin's throat as he nuzzled the lady griffin. She was soft and fluffy like a small chick, and Leolin did look very happy. No female had ever gave him a passing glance before, and it made the racer's heart feel light. He didn't realize that she could just be playing him for a fool.

Meshach caught Silence's gaze and helped her to her feet, standing behind her, lending her tactile support by keeping his long, always-warm hands on her arms. He did not know how to make his expression convey the concern he felt for his frail human companion's condition. He knew her injury was not fatal, but it was his fault indirectly.

Silence, left cold by the sudden adjustment of her arm, was grateful for the abnormal heat Meshach always seemed to generate and leaned backwards into his arms, so that a greater area of her body would be warmed. She had reached the freezing and shock phase of injury. Chade's warm, fluffy body weighted heavily on her foot and pressed back against her shins, adding his support.

Trill watched the other griffins, those nearer his age carry out their flirtation. He longed to be a part of that. He was not a solitary creature, and he had missed griffin company. He would not allow himself to be ignored. At the same time, he was not particularly interested in flirting with the pretty female, for though she was pretty, he was not interested in having a mate. He had left the Eyrie before he had gotten to see the other griffins' mating behavior.

Ignore the other male, and talk to her if you wish to do so, Chade advised. You are almost as large as he, should he try to repel you, and I do not think that she would want to repel you at all. If for no other reason than that she can use you to tease him.

Trill had no idea how the young griffin knew these things, but there was a ring of truth to the grey juvenile's soft-spoken advice. Trill would follow it. The spotted griffin cheeped at Kedri and flicked his tail playfully. He ignored Leolin, as per Chade's advice, and walked over to Kedri, a certain twitch to his hindquarters as he advanced.

Concern for her griffin's well being when Leo certainly hadn't had such a chance to socialize often, Laura went to Trill and reached out to pet him. "Come here... There's a good birdie, come here you..." She cooed, resting a hand in the juvenile's fluffy mane. Even if Kedri didn't see Leolin as a mate, she wanted her pet to be happy for a little while longer. "Let the adults play, hmm? I'll pet you, cutie."
