I think Religion is still strong in today's world because people can't think for themselves. They need to rely on a higher being for comfort; they need someone else to blame for their sins.
It's sad, really.

1,917//25,5oo You know, what you just said, is pretty much the exact same thing almost word for word what my Dad says everytime we talk about something like this. It is sad, that people are afraid to stand up and think for themselves. Two things: 1: I may start a thread for discussions like this 2: Listen to some of the songs by the Melodic/Power Metal band Cellador. They have a lot of songs about standing up and thinking for yourself.

I love you guys but you guys are completely and totally wrong! My heart is actually pounding now and I think I might have a heart attack because there is so much you don't know!! AUGH!!!!! wahmbulance
Heaven and hell aren't concepts or theories or any of that. They are real.
I am wrong about a lot of things, but let me tell you now, I am 1000% sure I am right. If we can't believe in a fair God who watches over us and takes us to be with him after we have passed on, then what can we believe in? How can we believe in love or friendship or anything. You think we're just here for no apparent reason? No.
Good people just don't go to hell because they don't believe in God. The people who have heard about God and refuse to believe go to Hell. If someone lived alone in Antarctica and was cut off from society and could never be exposed to God, well, that's not their fault entirely. And because they didn't get the chance to know God, that doesn't mean He just sends them straight to Hell! What kind of God would that be? He takes them to heaven. Take it or leave it, but I am dead serious, and I really do love you all, but your eternity is at stake, and when all hope is gone, God will hold you in his arms and never leave you. And I'm not some freak, I'm a real teenager who just happens to know the truth.

The ideal thing to do is to let it go and carry on. If an argument starts, I may end up having to hand someone a warning or ban someone for not respecting the most important rule in the guild: "Respect the beliefs or opinions of others."
