*Man’s voice* I charge you my son with this task, I know you won’t let me down, you never have. Travel safely and with haste, but most importantly, go with God.

*Young male Voice* You too father. *Son exits the room*

*Woman’s voice* You must reconsider Amos, you’ve sent our son to his death.

*Amos* No I haven’t he will prevail, he is my son.

*Male voice* Father, why not send me? I am more experienced then Clarence.

*Amos* Hastings you’ve proven your ability, it’s time for your brother to prove his. He is of age, and more the fair ability. His time has come to show the kingdom that he is strong amongst his family. And one day, if you are unable to take my place, they will know that he will be fit for the position.

*Hastings* Yes father, but he is my little brother, I can’t help but worry about him.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Meanwhile in the outter courts of the Castle, Calrence and his band made their last checks before they went to The Gate where their traveling caravan was waiting for them. They were escorting the caravan to Protner, the closest kingdom to Concord.
Everyone ready then? No forgotten last second details? I want to make sure that everything is set before we head to The Gate. Getting there and remembering something will not make me happy, and taking the time to come back to get it will not make the travelers happy either. We have to be at The Gate in 10. Teytay are you all in order?
This being Clarence's first time leading his own group to Protner, he was a little nervous inside, but his training didn't let it show. He knew that everything must go perfectly, everyone that mattered was waiting to see what would happen on his first task leading on his own. There would be no one to tell him what to do, and no one to bail him out.
Teytay looked up at her cousin Clarence after looking at her weapons and such she had hooked, tied, belted, and holstered to her body. Nothing was missing, and she even remembered to bring her matching ring from her best friend Sonya that they both wore on their pointer finger on their right hands.
I'm ready to go, nothing's wrong here. The supplies that are for us are with the caravan already, they are being paid to carry our stuff so that we don't have to. This will enable us to be ready to respond quickly to anything that happens. But hopefully we wont have that problem. So I'm all set. What about you Derrik?
Teytay turned to look at Derrik as she asked him the question. She suspected that Clarence wanted to ask everyone the same question before they left, so she did it for him.
Derrik heard his name and looked for who had said it. He quickly realized it was Teytay, as he saw her looking right at him. He replied without hesitating.
I'm all ready Miss Teytay, nothing to worry 'bout here. My belongings were sent to the caravan, and my personal items are on me. I'm ready to go. Oh and I've also brought what you asked me to bring.
Derrik held out his "compas" that was given to him by the Elves a few years back, its advanced technology could come in handy if they get into a bind.
It's all well and in working order, nothin to worry about Miss Teytay. If we are to get lost, I will help us find our way once more. We will no longer have to wait for the stars to guide us, we will be able to kind ourselves in teh day now.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 02, 2007 6:43 am
Derrik, I've asked you to call me Teytay for the longest time now. There's no need to add the 'Miss' in the beginning. How many times must I ask you?
Teytay had been wanting for Derrik to call her by her first name for the longest time, but he kept calling her 'Miss' for some reason. Perhaps out of respect, or maybe because he knew that there was a tone of flattery sometimes when Teytay spoke to him. Likewise her older cousin Prince Clarence was right there in their presance, and he didn't want to get 'resh' with the Price's cousin.
Derrik looked at Clarence for a second, whos eyes caught with his, and quicky looked back at Teytay and answered the question.
At least once more Miss Teytay.
The look he got from the Price moved Derrik to keep his polite tone of voice, and not bring the conversation to a more familiar state yet. The look also reminded him of his non royal blood, although Teytay was not excatly 'royal' herself, she was close enough. Half to be exact, and adopted by the Kings brother. So Derrik kept his distance, and avoided any conflict from Clarence.
Well put Derrik, you see Teytay, a good man like Derrik has manners, he treats you with respect, you should thank him by not asking him to call you by your name.
Clarence looked at Derrik as he passed by him and gave him a reassuring smile that said, 'I know you're a good guy, and I know what's going on, and I want you to know I'm cool with it. But in the presance of the rest of our group, I have to be the Price I am. Likewise, the both of you have to play your roles as well.' Later Clarence would explain this to Derrik, cause it was impossible for Derrik to know that all from one look.
Alright the three of us are ready, now how about you Koara?
Viren watched the conversation go on with a glint of amusement in her silver/green eyes. The conversations human’s had could be quite amusing if it wasn’t for the fact that they also had a tendency for talking about the most boring things ever. Who really cares if one is of royalty? Does this really matter so much when they all must learn to travel as a group, each depending on the other? Leaders are good, they keep balance, but having one lead just because of what kind of blood they were still confused Viren when it came to the human ways.
Koara smiled, hearing her name. She slung a small leather bundle over her shoulder, and patted the pouches that hung from her belt. She had not brought much, just what she needed to survive. Some salted meat, a sharpening stone for her blade, a hunting knife, a wineskin, some dried fruit, and a flint block. She carried everything with her, not wanting to part with any of these essentials.
"I am prepared, Clarence." she said, smiling at him. "You need not fear."
The beastmaster was going to be the problem. My own kind are much touchier when it comes to aspects of the soul and people's true selves.
Linwe, however, forced a smile, looking down, running his fingers through his hair.
At least the king has no physical description of me yet, yes?
He straightened a bit, removing his vain fingers from his favorite aspect of his body and ran his fingers experimentally down his lute strings, watching the others under his eyelashes.
The fact that the temple actually recommended me is perhaps the biggest irony of them all. If a follower of the mightly Hextor can hide his soul in such a place, surely I can continue this facade here.
He strapped his lute to his back, trying to ignore the chit-chat of the others, finding it an annoyance. If they were ready, they were ready, and if they weren't, no amount of asking would make them more ready. He couldn't help letting a non-dreamy-like smile creep across his lips, wondering what such a journey could bring out in his chaotic soul.
Excellent Koara.
Clarence turned to the next in line and asked the same general question.
Everything in order Viren?
I'm excited about this group, they are all on top of what they need to be doing, and they all seem greaty ready to head out. This looks to be a promising journey. With luck we will all be able to stay safe and keep from getting any casualities.
Clarence felt safe knowing that Teytay was with him, and he knew that the new members of his group were appointed by proven organizations. The Prince didn't expect anything to go wrong at all, it seemed almost perfect. Capable men and women at his side, a familiar trail to travel, and experence to protect not only himself but also the members of the caravan from danger.
As Clarence went to question the remaining members, Derrik sat down on a firm and titly wrapped cube of hay. He wanted to relax and be off his feet as long as possible, for the road ahead would be long and tiring.
I'm so glad we get hoarses, walking all that way would definetly take forever. I would probably pass on the group as a whole if we didn't get to ride there.
Teytay had to wait while Clarence finished checking everyone, she knew that he wanted to do things right, and not miss anything, so she was fine with the time it took for him to be satisfied.
Hmm, I wonder if there are any nice bazzars or shops in the Kingdom we're going to, I'd like to buy some things, not anything big, but a few things. Presants for mother would be nice, but we'll see when we get there.
Too many questions... I don't like these questions...
Making sure his bag was carefully tied shut, Linwe went over to the horse he had been apportioned. You're a beautiful beast, aren't you? he said softly, holding out his hand for the mare to sniff. Soon enough we'll be on our way out of town, and out of town means out of sight, ironically enough with two of royal blood.
Just as no one puts two and two together... everything'll be okay. Or, even if they don't, the chaos will be something to relish. And there most certainly will be blood.
The smile slipped away from his face, that dreamy, vacant expression Sehanine's followers seemed to carry replacing it as a safeguard.
As the group approached the horses, Koara slowed. She took up a long, steady gait, one that she used often around equines. Though she had never had the same connection to horses as she had to her lupine brethren, she understood them, and they her. She could not explain it, it just came naturally to her. When she came to the caravan, she found the horse which she was to ride and approached it carefully. First impression was always important with animals, and a calm, relaxed approach always put horses at ease. Koara nodded to the page boy who held the reigns for her, taking them out of his hands. She turned to the horse, looking into his deep, brown eyes. At first, he snorted, taking a step back. Koara let him, but kept her gaze steady. He stopped, standing still once more. After a moment, the horse allowed Koara to place a hand on his face, and lean her forehead against his. She smiled as he nuzzled her with his nose.
First contact taken care of, Koara got down to business, removing all the tack, starting with the bridle. She had always found it repulsive that humans would force beasts to wear such things. Pieces of steel grinding in their mouths, hefty saddles with too-tight girths. She shook her head as she worked, unbuckling the straps of the saddle and tossing it to the ground. Humming a traditional wild-elven song, she rubbed the horse's barrel where the girth had chaffed him. She untied her sheep-skin cloak and threw it over the horse's back, patting him on the neck. Adjusting her bone sheild on her baldric, she placed her leather bundle above the sheep-skin and leapt up onto the horse's back. He shook his neck, prompting laughter from Koara. She rustled his mane, patting him on the neck.
She turned and smiled to the others.
