The ED is usually pretty harsh, I haven't gone back in a while. Too many ignorant flamers.
amen. although by the same token i tend to flame the ignorant in there alot. every once in a while though you run accross a good debate. the other problem is they are circulr(the debates) becasue neither side is willing to give up ground.

Well, you could always be baptized, just to be baptized in the holy spirit. xd

Of course, you really only need to be baptized once, and it doesn't always involve the ritual.

My sister felt this way too. She didn't want to become part of a denomination by being baptised in a certain church, so my pastor baptised her in this gorgous lake. She said that's what she wanted, since she never weants to be able to say "I was baptised into a seventh day adventist church" she wants to say "I was baptised into Christ".

Of corse, my pastor got in big trouble for it by the big guys, but he didn't care ^_^ He's the best pastor I've ever had biggrin

Just wondering if being Catholic really makes a difference...

As far as i can tell, not realy. I left the catholic church soon after my 14th birthday. and i have honestly discovered a better re;ationship wiht God since leaving. I figure as long as we do right by christ it dosen't mater what denomination we come from. although the catholics are the oldest church. and the church it'self seems to have longstanding issues with other churches.mostly because the other churches felt the catholics were wrong anf thus left. so the catholics figured them for heretics. so the cathoilic church teaches that they are the only way into heaven.

Ring the bells for being WRONG. You say you were Catholic? I'm curious as to whether you payed attention to the teachings.

Has it occured that maybe the Catholic Church is constantly being attacked? A lot of members claim that Christians needs to fight against the attack on them- and that's what the Catholic Church does. People put a lot of negative assumptions with the Catholic Church- why? Maybe they don't like being told that doing some things is wrong?

England didn't like having the Pope not let them break a sacred vow with Christ- the bond we all seem to support. So they left.

The Catholic Church doesn't support homosexuals. TIME TO LEAVE!

We all say that the way to Christ is the only way to eternal peace and love- so it seems strange to me how we're all supposed to be loving each other and respecting all members of Christ- yet here people spout things about Catholics- and that suprises and bothers me to no end.

Lets get some ground rules from a Roman Catholic:

1. We don't view everyone as 'evil'. I won't get in your face and scream you're gonna burn in hell. Please watch less Tv shows and movies that seem to view Catholics at this angle.
2. We follow the teachings of Christ straight from the start of His faith. The Catholic Church was, from the start, the Rock of faith. Peter means rock. Peter was the first Pope who founded the Church. In Rome. Hence Roman Catholic.
3. Don't say we have the most issues. It's easy to blame others. Try looking at the WHOLE. We are people. We sin. All we can do is follow Christ. We all have issues, ok?

As for it all, I say it does matter. It's like people who say they don't need to confess because they can confess to themselves in prayer. That seems strange since God set up somethings for a reason. People don't like the rules set up by the Catholic Church and leave. We follow the guidelines set out by Christ. Confession to the Priest isn't to the Priest. It's to Christ. Just like you would ask a Saint to step in for you through prayer and help bring you closer to God, that is the purpose of telling the Priest your sins. You are really praying through a Priest, someone called to service by God HIMSELF, and reaching right to God and asking for help and forgiveness.

If you aren't Catholic, I'm not going to attack you, believe it or not. (With-hold gasps please)

All I'm saying is that stop being so aggressive against Catholics. We're supposed to be a Christian group here, right? I realize this isn't a Catholic, or Protestant group etc, but have some respect.

A lot of you are asking questions that you actually want answers for, and I respect that...but for some of you, I can't understand how you can write things with such a negative twist, then go to another board and state how much you love Christ and everyone. I understand we sin, but at least try to get some sort of grasp on the teachings of God and love thy neighbour.

This was some of my input on the topic, and my defense as to please ask questions not make statements that are insulting and VERY judegmental.

I don't seem to be throwing insults at you, so please respect my views. And don't generalize all Catholic teachings.

I have responded to your thread. Some responses may be a little harsh, but you have to realize that we have different experiences and some of us have been wronged by certain churches. I realize that it is not the religion that causes bad experiences, but the people do. From a Protestant view, Catholicism seems a little bogged down with some rituals and beliefs that don't make much sense to us. Lets try to correct each others misconceptions and try not to take what we say here as an offense. We only want to learn more about each other, for that is one way we grow.

On that note. Let us discuss these issues.

* The Catholic church don't view non-Catholics as 'evil', but then how does the Catholic church view them?

* Also, what is it required for one to be with God, and not go to hell, according to Catholisicm?

* As for confession, what are the scriptures that state specifically that we are required to have a priest to intercede our prayers?

* On the same token, what are the scriptures that support asking saints to intercede for us?

I have more questions but these are just the ones that have been raised. I will be just as willing to answer any questions you may have a well.

I do not like debate so I will not be adding much input here. I would only like to say that I respect catholic beliefs and people of all faiths will be in my prayers for understanding and love from God.

Yeah trust me i payed attention.

do yo uknow why the catholic church is coming under fire from all angles? because they started the fights. if people hadn't had issues wiht the catholics to begin wiht they wouldn't have said anything. Now the church has decided to lash out claiming self defence? no way is that going to slide.

"respecvting all members of Christ"? what horse s**t. for the most part every organized denomination is shitting on anohter for some reason or another. (hey look i'm not singling out the catholics this time) no denomination is right but all have the fundamentals right. Jesus is Lord and He is good.

i think the english were wrong to leave the church too. but then again it was the Kings descision to enforce new laws and a new church so that he might have the right to marry and divorce as he saw fit not the countrys.

i'm done for now i'll post a reply to the rest of this later.
