She blinked and pondered very hard on everything she was going to learn, it was almost like a flutter of excitement welling inside one like butterflies in your stomach.
In the islands everyone talked the same so her manner of primative speech seemed correct and usable, but listening to the others of this land was more of a cuture shock than anything to this distraught scared creature. It was no wonder some soquili teased and mocked her for something she was unaware of. In no right should they be so ignorant, but in some cases if you think about it, it couldn't be helped either concerning who "some" were.
So she stood there absorbing everything like a sponge and nodded along with what he was saying.
"Okies. So I say "I" and "me" when Kimi want to talk yes?" she queried with a contemplative smile, " Example please to hear when Kimi use "I" and "me".
She was going to try her best, and with much practice she could conquer even the queerest of things, this was no exception.

Of course, Thokya had no idea why Kimi spoke the way she did. Even though he stayed away from the main herd, he hadn't gone particularly far, and he'd never met anyone else who spoke like her.
He smiled. "Not quite. You would say, 'It is good to hear me use "I" and "me."' Or, 'Hello, I am Kimi.' Do you see?"

((Mr. Ed seems to be out of town right now, got his answering machine))
Her eyes widened though they always looked beady being the small orange they were created with.
"Hello, I am Kimi" she repeated with a swish of her long tail, "I am Kimi", Thinking she tried something else since her mind was a flutter with so many things.
"I am happy Thyoka" she beamed with a little squeak.
This was beginning to become a wonderful learning experience.

"Precisely!" Thokya exclaimed, stamping a hoof for emphasis. He let his jaw drop into an equine grin. "And I'm glad that you're happy."
Contemplating the grey striped mare, Thokya moved to scratch his back against a tree. She was a pretty quick study, it seemed, as long as he was patient. Perhaps some normal conversation, with gentle corrections, were all she really needed.
"So," he began, eying a particularly juicy-looking clump of grass a few paces away, "Would you like to take a walk or something?"

Kimimella stood there grinning as her mind laid out various phrases and sayings to help her understand word placements and such.
"Kimi... err I'd like that very much Thokya. I like walking." she nodded beaming as she was catching her mistakes. Though she still fumbled with the words "Kimi and I", they always seemed to mix themselves up if she wasn't careful.
She simed at him which now made her little beady orange eyes look rather cute. Finally someone that was willing to have paitience and teach her what was custom in this place she called home.

Thokya nodded, one ear flicking to rid himself of a fly buzzing around his head. "Are you familiar with this part of the forest?" he asked. Their current position was a little out of his normal territory. The stallion paused a moment to nibble at a patch of bright flowers before setting off down a faint trail.

Familiar. What was familiar she wondered looking around her. Noticing the taller trees she frowned. She had no idea where they were going or headed really.
"Uh I do not know Thokya. Me... err I wasn't paying attention where to we were going." she responded with a frown hoping he wouldn't get mad at her for something like that.
"Thokya doesn't know either? Lost we are?" she mentioned looking around her. Loosing track of the time and her location was always something Kimi had trouble with.

Thokya indicated the faint trail he was following, mostly made by smaller woodland creatures. "Do not worry, we are not lost. I only wondered if you had been here before."
The stallion had done a fair share of wandering, enough to remember major landmarks. "There should be a stream before long," he said. True to his word, it was only a few minutes until the pair reached a slowly trickling brook, only a few feet across.

Kimi blinked her eyes as the water glinted in her wide eyes. Imediately she craned her neck down for a drink to parch her dry throat. Something of an annoyance when one was nervous or worried a dryness would surface and cause thirst to swell. Kimi drank fully then rose her head to meet his eyes once more.
"Kimi.. err I am glad that Thokya... err you knew the way. Not good to be lost so close to home." she nodded with a bright eyed expression as water dropplets trickled down her chin.
She beamed quite proudly that her words were behaving though sometimes I's and me's sounded a lot like Kimi whereas you sounded alot like Thokya most times.
Such a long way to go.

Thokya drank as well, the long ends of his mane dipping into the stream. Drops of water splashed his sun-warmed skin as he raised his head.
"Of course," he said, hiding a grin. "And where do you make your home, Kimi?"
The orange stallion stood at ease, occasionally taking a bite of grass or flicking his tail to rid himself of buzzing insects. He seemed to open up somewhat, being in his own territory. Not to mention the grey striped mare; her strangeness and innocence were refreshing.

She was pondering over and over the correct speech but it seemed so hard. Where she was to speak "I" instead of "Kimi" it got her so confused. She supposed even foals went through this crazy transition of learning something new.
"My home? Kimi.. err I mean I live the trees with the clearing. Celendria there she lives who takes care of us." she nodded brightly swishing her long stripy tail. It had been awhile since anyone had taken time to simply talk with her.
"Kimi know here you live right?" she asked then let her ears droop. Why was it so hard to speak the "right" way all the time. For a while she was doing quite well, then poof there it went again.

Once again it took Thokya a while to muddle through Kimi's words. Something about a clearing, and someone who took care of her. How had she ended up so far away from her home and this 'Celendria'? Obviously she didn't do such a wonderful job of supervising! His eyes rolled at the thought. Poor Kimi certainly brought out his protective side.
"Do you know how to get back there?" he asked, concerned. "To.. Celendria?" Thokya bumped her cheek with his nose. "I live around here, yes. You can stay with me for a while, if you like. Or I can help you find your family." His ears perked forward earnestly.
The prospect of deliberately seeking out a group of others wasn't exactly his cup of tea (bale of hay?), but he would go, to help Kimi.

Kimimela realized she messed up her speech and it was frustrating. Why was it so darn hard to actually speak like everyone else? Where was the fairness in life in this land, to the Soquili that was born with orange eyes and stripes she didn't understand.
"No no Good Celendria is. Mom of Glory and friend of Kimi." she muddled along forgetting the more confused and frustrated she got, the worse her words sounded.
"Ah no I messed up didn't Kimi?' sighing she leaned in toward him. "Kimi err I would like to stay here with Thokya for while. Glory busy Kimi think with family. Kimi just be in the way there."
She turned to look at him her orange eyes pleading almost, "Would Thokya mind?" She didn't want to get in anyone's way. Maybe here she'd feel more at ease.

Thokya relaxed at the mare's explanation, although he didn't like to see Kimi so distressed. He whickered softly, hoping to calm her. "Don't worry. Take your time with your words."
The orange stallion only hesitated for a moment. While he valued his solitude and wasn't at all comfortable in a crowd, it was good to have a friend. Someone to talk to, as strange as she was; even someone who knew he existed.
"I wouldn't mind at all," Thokya said firmly. "You're welcome to share this space with me, Kimi." He stamped a forehoof in emphasis. "For as long as you wish."

Kimimela brightened those orange orbs quite widely in his response. Besides Glory and Celendria, and maybe Waya all others had showed they thought she was odd or annoying. But this particular stallion was taking time, his precious time to make her feel welcome. She really didn't want to bother Glory or her family if she did go back. And Celendria, well she had things of her own to do watching over everyone. So she made up her mind to stay here with Thokya through the winter at least, then maybe she'd travel home for a visit.
"Kimi err I would like that very much. I'm not much trouble really. Kimi is good that way." she chuckled with a nuzzle before craning her neck downward to eat some autumn grass. Maybe this would do her some good and help her speech a lot more she pondered. Besides it was nice to have company too.
