She felt so foolish being so concerned about matters like this, but was it not natural to raise foals and become parents like their mothers and fathers before them? Olathe wasn't sure why she suddenly focused her thoughts on this so extensively these days. Perhaps it was Lia's fault.
"I don't know," she sighed into his shoulder, draping her head across his shoulder. "I've seen things, Helaku. Stallions upset that their mares never bore them a son....mares outcasted for being barren. Conflict over such things...it was common where I came from."
He did say he wouldn't leave though so her anxiety should have been eased, yet it wasn't. What if something really was wrong with her?

"Then they are fools, Olathe," Helaku replied firmly. "Fools to put progeny before heart. If both cannot be had, I would choose heart every time. I was raised to be different than they." Nuzzling his mate fondly, he started to hum softly, then to sing in a wavering voice.
"You see I've always been a fighter But without you I'd give up
And I will love you, baby...Always And I'll be there forever and a day...Always
I'll be there till the stars don't shine Till the heavens burst and The words don't rhyme And I know when I die, you'll be on my mind And I'll love you...Always
If you told me to cry for you...I could If you told me to die for you...I would Take a look at my face There's no price I won't pay To say these words to you..."

"Fools....yes....they are," Olathe mumbled in agreement before falling silent as he consoled her with song, always something she had been fond of. It wasn't anything she had heard before, but it worked. Probably too well for she teared up a little. Man, her emotions were totally out of wack today.
"Why am I so lucky?" she finally managed, sniffling shamefully. "I am sorry for being so childish. I can't seem to help it lately."
Really, how could she think Helaku would love her any less for not giving him childen yet. That was so silly. Oh how Lia would laugh if she found out.

"Lucky?" The grey stallion winked. "We both lucked out I guess." Helaku smiled softly as he gently nuzzled her cheek. "It's quite alright, love. You've stood by me through my own issues, how could I refuse the same for you?"

She sighed, closing her eyes at the same time, and attempted to get her thoughts in check. Maybe a cool drink would help. Olathe gently touched noses with her mate after reopening her eyes, looking more composed.
"I...think maybe I need to get a bit of water," she said in a more stable tone.

Helaku nickered softly, wishing he could come along. "Go ahead, love. I'll be right here."

"I won't be long," she said as assuringly as she could, giving him a soft ear n** before excusing herself to the nearest water source. She had this time now to get her thoughts in order and file them away for later pondering. Helaku didn't need her drama.
