"Really? Wow. I'd love to see it some time." Marshall said, enthusiasm beaming. He honestly would, but mostly he just wanted to spend some more time with this Awen girl.
"The only thing special about my duplex is that Gaius lives right next door. Outside of that, nothin' to talk about." he said, in a poor attempt to add any thing to the conversation.

"Gaius?" Awen puzzled a moment over the name. It sounded familiar but she had been studying the list of people and duplexes awhile back. ... To make sure no one else went missing... The manta doubted that she'd met this one though.
He was special to the penguin though? What could be so spe--oh. Ooooh. "So... you and Gaius are...um...?"

"Are...?" Marshall blinked a few times, before remembering his talk with Ambrose just a couple days prior.
"...NO ITS NOT LIKE THAT!" Marshall yelled in a panic, wondering if he honestly came off as that. Not that there was any thing wrong with it, but still, Marshall wasn't like that!

Awen pushed back suddenly at the man's outburst. Not very far but it had startled her enough. She held both palms up defensively, letting her legs and flippers keep her afloat. "Woah, easy there. I didn't mean anything."
She gave an extremely apologetic smile as she tried to explain. "Well you just said that your duplex was special because Gaius lived next to you... I don't really know what's so special about this Gaius guy but most people that talk like that... well you know mean that the other person is, well, special. I didn't mean to offend you."

Oh, great going, dumbass!
"I-I'm sorry. I kinda over-reacted. Gaius is just kinda my best friend, y'know? Like my older brother. Trust me, I dun swing that way." Marshall said, laughing awkwardly.
It was one thing with Ambrose but for the love of Pete I don't want Awen to think that!
"So...Um..." Marshall rubbed the back of his neck; he hadn't felt this awkward since high school. And at least then he wasn't turning into a penguin or being asked if he was gay!

Awen nodded and moved back to a comfortable distance. He sure was a bit touchy, she hadn't meant anything. She chuckled and nodded. "Oh I see, I'm sorry about that."
Awen likewise wasn't exactly sure what to say to the penguin after that little miscommunication. "Uh..so.. How is the island treating you these days?"

"W-Well...I'm good. I mean...Its not...Terrible. But I'm kinda...happy, y'know?" Marshall said, as if he was talking about some thing terribly embarrassing. Admitting that he wasn't completely miserable, that was some thing he never heard on this island.
"I've made a lot of friends, and I've figured out how to draw...Heh heh, if I had a Wii I'd be in heaven." Marshall chuckled.
Oh! Crap! She'll think I'm a geek! Which, well, I kinda am, but she didn't have to know that!

"Oh! I think someone was getting someone else a Wii... Jordan to Kim I think? Hmm.." She laughed a bit. "I didn't even know what a Wii was until Miller explained that it was the Rev. I wish they hadn't changed the damn name." She shook her head with a sigh. "I don't have one of those but I do have a PS3." She grinned. "Gamecube and PS2 also in my duplex... I think an Xbox in the entertainment room unless someone pilfered it."
She grinned in her own gamer geekdom before turning to his other comments. "You draw? That's awesome. Even better is that you still can! And you're happy. That really is the key to things here." She seemed qite chipper about everything right now, didn't she?

"You got a Playstation 3?! Aww man, you're so lucky!" Marshall said, sounding like an easily impressed 12 year old. It never even occurred to him actually just ask the labs for a Wii, but then again he never was the brightest bulb.
"Maybe I could play against you in Soul Callibur some time, neh?" Marshall chuckled, before a large, gurgling sound came from his paunch. That was when he realized: He didn't eat breakfast or lunch today.
...s**t s**t s**t s**t! Damn you, stomach! How can you betray me like this?!?!
"Eh heh heh heh...G-Guess I shoulda gotten some thing to eat, neh?" Marshall chuckled, rubbing the back of his next. "I...I might head over to the Caf..."

Awen opened her mouth to answer but was silenced by the gurgling. "Oh dear." She chuckled and nodded. "Might be good to grab some food." She paused a moment before adding what she wanted to say. "But any time you want to play games come to the duplex, if I'm around I'll be happy to pwn you."

...Did she just threaten to pwn me? Sweet Buddah I think I'm in love...
"Alright. Um, you're in the first Special Duplex, right? On the other side of the lake?" Marshall asked, even though he already knew the answer to the question.
"I'm at Duplex 59, so...Um...Feel free to drop by any time, okay?" Marshall smiled, waving a little as he swam towards the shore of the lake.

"Yup, that's the place." She laughed a bit and shook her head. "And I'll keep yours in mind too." With a small smile and a wave she shooed the boy off for food. "Now go, go! Before your stomach starts to eat itself, hah."
The manta herself dipped back underwater to go about her day. With all her encounters recently this seems to have been the most pleasant. She'll keep Marshall in mind next time she's looking for a Player 2.
