It was strange, being home again.

Rain stepped through the tall doorway, her hair feeling strangely light on her back. She ran her long, clean fingers through it, amazed at how silky it was, compared to how it had been in the usual braid. Rain walked outside into the courtyard, kicking off the amazingly uncomfortable heels. The soft touch of grass on her aching feet felt refreshing and soothing. Rain stooped down to rub her ankle with her hand, her long rippling gown bunching up around her. Rain thought the gown was beautiful, but too good for someone like her. She was used to wearing thick outdoor clothes. The transition from those clothes to this elegant dress was hard. And Rain despised her the high-heels. Rain kicked them warily, watching them sink into the thick lawn.

Asriel shrieked loudly, beating at the man with his wings. The man continued to advance, causing Asriel to panic. The red screamed and screamed at the man, unable to get at him with his claws. "What is this inferior contraption that holds me from this mortal?" he snarled, turning to the next stall over. Aleraya stood in it, preening quietly. Another man was in the stall with her, brushing her while humming a soft song. Aleraya glanced at him, clicking her talons against the floorboards. "Its a gate," she said simply, returning to watch the man who brushed her. "A gate? A GATE?" hissed Asriel, ramming into the gate with his broad chest. It clattered against the lock, but did not break. Asriel snarled his rage, turning his back to the man trying to get in. Torak stuck his head over the wall that seperated his and Asriel's stalls, shuffling his wings. "The mistress will return for us," he said simply. Asriel glared at him, his eyes flashing with rage. "How dare you just stand there! She could be in some sort of danger, or worse, that women who put us here could be patronizing her! We-have-to-get-out-of-here!" bellowed Asriel, charging into the gate again. There was a loud crack, and the gate fell. Asriel screamed his triumph, stampeding out of the stables. A few horses whinnied as he left, happy that the loud winged creature was finally out of there barn.

"Miss Whitings! Miss Whitings!" shouted the stable boy, sprinting across the lawn towards Rain. He looked rather flustered, and his red hair looked unkept and dirty. His clothes showed clear evidence that he worked with horses in the stable. Rain stood up quickly, slipping her feet into her high heels. "Yeah?" she answered in a voice that didn't at all sound lady-like. The stable boy pointed at the stable around the house. "The big, red one got out!" he huffed, breathing hard from his long run. "Asriel...." she muttered under her breath, starting across the lawn towards the stable. The boy followed, always a step behing. "Excuse me? What did you say?" he asked, jogging to keep up with Rain's brisk pace. Rain glanced at him, searching the sky for the griffon as she answered. "I said Asriel. Its the red's name. Didn't my mother tell you anything?" hissed Rain, rather annoyed. She had clearly instructed no one to go near Asriel. Asriel didn't much like humans, except for her. Rain picked up her pace again, striding into the stable.

Asriel spotted his beloved Rain from his roost on top of the family mansion. He dove down, landing behind her with a graceful landing. He nuzzled her cheek, wrapping his wings around her, thrumming deeply. He had been rather frightened that she had been put in harms way, and Asriel was overwhelmed with relief to see that she wasn't. Rain laughed, scratching him behind the ears lovingly.

The stable boy was astounded with the sight before him. The gryphon that had tried to trample him only moments before was nuzzling just a simple girl! The boy was thick with jealously. He would love to control such a creature, but he knew that this dream would never come to pass. He stuck his hands in his pockets, scowling angrily. He would never be any more than just a poor, useless stable boy.

"Well its clear to me that you aren't going to go back to the stable, so what to do with you...." said Rain, leaping up onto his back.

It was challenging to sit on him with her dress on, but she managed. Asriel leaped up into the air, beating his enourmas wings with huge powerful strokes. Asriel took a few circles around the mansion before letting Rain guide him towards a large balcony, on the second floor of the building. He landed with a clatter of talons on tiles, allowing Rain to step down off of his back onto the porch. Rain strode to the sliding door, pushing it out of the way. She went right in, followed by Asriel.

"Na, ah ah! Wait outside for a moment," hissed Rain, pushing him back through the door.

Asriel swished his tail, sitting patiently on the balcony. The room just inside was Rain's own room. She fingered the blankets on the bed, her eyes stinging with sudden tears. She really had missed this place. Her little room, where she had spent so much of her childhood. Rain turned away, jogging out the door. She sprinted to the bathing room, grabbing a towel that lay folded on a shelf. She quickly ran it under some hot water, making sure it was nice a wet. Then, Rain dashed back into her room and out to the balcony where Asriel waited.

COURTSHIP ROLEPLAY
Asriel heart Aleraya

Asriel was perched atop the Whiting mansion, preening his open right wing with his curving jet black beak. His firey orange eyes flashed in the glowing sunset light, the image of the setting sun reflected on their surface. The large red creature had been waiting for what seemed much too long. His long tail swished back and forth anxiously, the thick black tuft at the end making a soft floofy noise as it moved. His large back paws braced again the steep shingles, his front claws scraping against them with a sound similar to human nails on a chalkboard. Asriel, however, was not listening to that noise. His full attention was being commanded by another thing entirely, flying steadily toward him from another direction. It was a gryphon, a female to be more exact. A blue gryphon with dazzling eyes that seemed to call Asriel, tugging at him to come forth. Asriel purred deep in his throat, raising his great black wings to greet the his love. Asriel was usually thought of as a hot-headed gryphon with no respect towards other people. This was generally true, except when it came to Aleraya. The shimmering diamond amongst barrels of coal. When it came to her, he was always nervous.

Asriel's heart was beating again his rib cage, echoing in his ears. Would she accept him? What would she say? His thoughts were racing. His cheeks would have turned a blushing red if not his feathers were already that color. He would give it his best shot, and hope for the best.

Aleraya glanced up at Asriel, a smile hinting at the corners of her beak. She hovered in place, her wings beating faintly. She had had to fly quite some way to meet him here. Aleraya had spent the larger part of the day sleeping on a golden hill, letting the soft wind caress her feathers. It was her favorite spot, out in the countryside where no one ever went. She had been alone with her thoughts all day, wondering what to make of them. After some time of careful thinking, Aleraya had made up her mind to meet her lover, for she knew exactly what she wanted to do with herself.

Aleraya landed on a long protruding branch on a large oak tree. Her balance was perfect, her landing superb. Without any effort, she lay down on the branch, gazing up at Asriel, who had now taken to the air.

Right infront of the waiting female, Asriel did a move he had practiced for quite some time. It involved doing a long string of flips and turns, going on into an up-side-down free fall, then ending with a backwards flip to avoid crashing into the thick mansion lawn. Asriel had slaved over this trick for hourse beforehand, practicing it until it was absolutely perfect. When he performed it infront of the female, he poured his heart and soul into all the tricks. The first flips and turns looked unreal and amazing. Feathers fluttered and flew, his body becoming a speeding crimson blur in the orange sky. His spiraling dive looked almost like a real fall, except with much for elegance and perfection. His pulling-up flip was the only thing that didn't work, however.

Asriel had tried to flip numerous times beforehand, doing it every single time perfect. He had practiced on the mansion's front lawn, where there was nothing but a small sprinkler head to mess him up. But he was now in the back lawn. He had forgotten that on this side of the house, there was a large white picket fence going right through the middle. With a loud smack, he went hurtling right into it, snapping the thick 2x4 wood into two clean pieces. Asriel ended up flat on his back, looking up at Aleraya in the tree. He clacked his beak together, closing his eyes in his own embarrassment. He was so angry at himself. He had just screwed up his only chance at winning Aleraya's heart. How could he have been so stupid?!

Asriel groaned, rolling to his feet. He glanced up at the tree, half expecting Aleraya to have left. But the saphire female was still there, peering at him with a laughing expression. Aleraya glided down beside him, brushing up beside him.

"It was absolutely amazing until that last bit," she said, nuzzling his cheek. Asriel was surprised as he looked at her. He had expected her to make fun of him, then fly away as if his love hadn't mattered at all. Asriel nuzzled her back, leaping up into the air again with a great flap of his wings. He went straight to the spot on the mansion, turning to look at Aleraya. Aleraya was slowling making her way behind him, a glint in her eyes. She had excepted

Without hesitation, the great red gryphon took off from his perch, gliding down to meet the female. Asriel went up real close, looking straight into her swirling saphire eyes. His coiling tail entangled with the females, his talons clasping with her own. Aleraya felt her heart swell as she realized they were rising. Rising up before the dive. Her heart fluttered for a moment, more like a small butterfly than a beating heart, before calming down. Asriel knew what he was doing, and she felt safe and secure with him. Asriel nuzzled her cheek with his beak, easing her over into the dive. And all at once they were spiralling down at breakneck speed. Even though the wind was whipping against there feathers, screaming and howling in the ears, tearing at them, they continued to look straight into each others eyes. The strong connection that had formed between the two had strengthened into a unbreakable bond that tied them both together. They both wanted to spend the rest of their long, immortal lived together.

At last they were forced to break apart, flying each in different directions. Asriel landed gracefully on his perch atop the mansion, his crimson feathers rustling in the cool breeze. Aleraya went the other way, landing on the top of a tree. She gazed at him for a time, until she again lifted off, flying toward him at a slow easy pace. Asriel took off too, gliding next to her.

Clasping talons together, they swore to each other that they both wanted to be together forever, no matter what.

Asriel flew in a wide circle above the barn, his great red wing feathers spread wide. He screeched loudly, the note filled with a happy vibe. He had been circling for some time, for he wanted his message to be spread throughout the land. He had been screeching out into the wind that he would soon be a father. A father of what he hoped would be a happy healthy chick. Asriel screeched again, diving back into the barn to greet his love.

Aleraya looked up as Asriel dove into the barn, watching his graceful landing with an affectionate glance. Then, with a more stern expression, she looked into his eyes. "Asriel, please try to keep it down. You never know what such noise could do to harm the egg," she said softly, nuzzling the small egg with her beak. The egg sat in the curl of her tail, glowing softly in the light of a lantern.

COURTSHIP ROLEPLAY
Torak heart Akana

Akana was having one of those days. One of those obsessive griffin days where one does nothing but clean themselves over and over and over again. The spotted griff had never looked so sparkly clean, and yet she was still not satisfied. At the moment, she saw a large flaw in the long flight feathers in the wings.

"They won't stay still," she churred angrilly, slamming her long coiling tail against the lawn on which she was layed out on. She clacked her beak together, her sharp eyes narrowing. Her day was turning out to be rather frustrating. Akana planned to break the silent law that had been layed out by the two griffins whom she respected above all others; Asriel and Aleraya. Akana thought that the too where just the perfect pair, both in personalities and in looks. Akana looked down at herself, frowning. The griffin she had the hots for didn't seem to like her back...and if she were to follow the tradition Ace and Aya had laid out...that would mean waiting for the impossible. That would mean waiting for Torak to ask her.

Akana shook her head. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to be male... she thought to herself, than stopped. considering that for a brief second. I take that back, being female is fine.

Akana lifted her head, stretching her limbs out in different directions before moving to her feet. She looked about her at the sprawling green lawn, then to the towering white human mansion to her left. Humans are such tacky creatures.... she thought to herself as she eyed a peculiar statue.

Akana made her way back to the barn, for it was beginning to darken, unaware of the gleaming orange eyes that watched her every movement from the high branches of a nearby tree.

~ ~ ~

She must really hate me....She didn't even look at me... Torak thought gloomily to himself, slumping against the tree trunk. Torak had no idea how to ask Akana to mate with him. He had been stupid when Asriel had offered to give him a tip and he had merely retorted with a "I already know everything" kind of remark. Asriel had shrugged and gone off to play with his son Ichiro. "Damn, I'm a real idiot..." he clucked to himself, sighing. He hadn't really ment to say it outloud, more of a thought to himself. Torak hadn't expected Akana to turn around and look straight at him.

"You say something?" she called up, her lime green eyes flashing in sunset's light.

"Noooo...." he answered, trying his best to sound innocent. It didn't work.

"You're a really bad liar," said Akana softly, shuffling her wings together against her shoulder blades. She was feeling something strange, bubbling up in her chest. She had a sudden urge to fly up and meet Torak in his tree; and she followed that instinct.

Akana landed a few feet from Torak, clutching the thick tree branch with her talons to keep from falling. She didn't really like being in high places when she wasn't flying. She always had trouble recovering from falling. She was good at just flying normally, however.

"You don't like it up here, do you?" said Torak smoothly, nodding towards her shaking legs. Akana shook her head, squeezing tighter to the branch.

Torak chuckled through his beak, sliding closer across the branch. "This might help that-" he said softly. Then, against all of Akana's thoughts, pushed her right off.

She screeched loudly as she fell, her eyes wide in terror, her talons raking the empty hair. Akana didn't hit the ground. Instead, she was caught by two pairs of sturdy talons and a laughing gryphon face above her own.

"Gotcha. Really think I'd push you off?" Torak said, grinning broadly. Akana squirmed out from his talons, hovering beside him for a moment.

Akana's mind was whirling. She had actually thought something else....something else entirely.

"I thought you wanted to...."

".....fly with you....?"

Torak finished her sentence, nuzzling her cheek with his beak. Akana found her cheeks growing hot. "Impress me first." she said with a sly flick of her tail. Torak nodded his head, thinking quickly of what he would perform for this gorgeous female. Then it came to him. It was the move he had done when he was only a little chick, trying desperately to impress to childhood crush...who had later dumped him because she hadn't liked the deep shade of red his tail had turned into.

Torak dove beneath Akana, flying upside down beneath her to show off the gorgeous brown strips on his wings. He screeched a few times, puffing up his chest as he did a few flips in the air. He topped that off with a few cork screws and dives, flashing his red tail like a bright red torch. Akana had a "is that it?" look on her face. Torak shook his head, readying himself was the big finish. He flew up right next to Akana, so that his breast feathers touched hers. "I really hate how tradition says that the males are to impress the females....Why don't you fly with me?

Akana was surprised, but hid it under a mild smile. That was what she liked about the red-tailed gryphon. He's everything I'm not: outgoing, daring, not afraid of anything...

The two gryphons flew together for a while, blissfully unaware of the world around them. Unaware of the fact that they were out till the very late hours of the night. Unaware that it took them a while to finally get together to clasp talons and fly together in a spiral dive. Unaware that Asriel and Aleraya were chuckling inside the barn with their chick, knowing exactly how the two where feeling.

Kids.... They were both thinking.
