The idea is really neat. It reminds me of some native American cultures that sent children on vision quests to find their spirit (I don't remember the actual term) guardian and would come back telling how they saw a creature. Maybe it was a hawk, bear, snake, or mouse and they would try to live their life using that creature as inspiration.

And yes, it does ring a little of the vision quests/guide cultures, doesn't it? XD I didn't really think about that, but you're right, lol.
