The speed and momentum at which Kichanga was running downhill made his ears and his tail and his scruff flap behind him. He loved the feel of the wind fighting against him and the gravity pushing him along. He was absorbed in it.
So imagine his surprise when, suddenly, a furry tan-black-and-white blur went tumbling past him. He stumbled a bit, and almost went rolling down himself, but steadied a bit and slowed and laughed watching Kinye go rolling down the hill. He crept down carefully and paused at where she landed, tail lashing. With an irrepressible smile, he bent down and asked, "Are you okay?" If she wasn't, he'd probably stop smiling then. He had to be sure.
But, she seemed to have enjoyed herself, so he sat a moment, catching his breath. This old dog wasn't made for this kind of exertion. He panted wildly. "Glad you're enjoying yourself," he gasped. Then, after a moment, he added, "I think I'm going to get myself killed if I keep going like this."

"Killed?" Kinye repeated, seeming almost freaked by the prospect. FRIENDS WERE NOT ALLOWED TO DIE. It'd probably be blamed on her and she'd be taken the Wild Dog court, andandand...
"AHHHHHHH!"
The entire prospect nearly sent her sprawling back to the ground, but, being good like that, prevented herself from doing so and instead looked at him, as if asking him to explain.
"How does playing kill someone?" she inquired, that being her underlying worry on the top of her list. Kinye LOVED to play, but if it could kill someone, she might have taken like.. a BAZILLION YEARS off of her life.
That was a scary thought!
But it might have just been paranoia in her mind.

Kichanga gritted his teeth, cringed, and shied away, poor assaulted ears flattened back against his head. Okay, wrong choice of words. Way to go, dunderhead. Now how was he going to fix this one?
Once he thought he could risk it, he uncoiled his tensed muscles and released his clenched ears and slid closer. "Hey, hey, hey! Calm down, magpie," he said soothingly. "I'm not really going to die. I was just exaggerating!"
But she was still panicking. He sighed and hung his head and murmured "Butternuts..." under his breath before adding, "It's okay! Playing can't really kill you. I mean, if you're really, really old, you can hurt yourself playing, but you're still very young, and me? I'm not really that old yet! Like I said, I was exaggerating." He chuckled a little to show her it was okay and wagged his tail. He just wanted to get the poor girl to calm down--she was so worked up now. He was exasperated, but he couldn't help but feel a little guilty too.

Kinye seemed to hyperventilate a bit, but still quieted down enough to listen to Kich explain what he'd meant by the statement. In fact, it seemed to help a ton, as she slowly calmed down more and more as he spoke, while her mind went 'Oh, durrrrrrrrr.'
In fact, she felt kinda dumb for over-reacting. But that wasn't her fault as well. She'd never really been around quote-unquote 'old Wild Dogs'. Mommy and Daddy and Reizt were all fairly young, so was everybody else in mommy and daddy's family.. and pack.
Oh, how she missed them all, even now.
"That was quite a bit of exaggeration." she commented, tail wagging a bit, once she'd been fully convinced that she wasn't going to die and early death because she liked to play so much.
Kinye then stuck her tongue out a bit at him.
"You really scared me, might I add...... can you still hear?"
Yes, she was very aware of how loudly she'd started to yell.

Kichanga's brows furrowed with worry until Kinye's breathing began to slow. Kich may not be dying, but he had briefly thought he may have killed Kinye with his big, stupid mouth. He hoped he hadn't caused her too much undue worry... though from her big freakout, he felt it was pretty safe to assume that he had.
Kich wondered briefly if his social skills had gotten rusty. He'd been pretty well on his own since he'd become an adult. He hoped he hadn't upset her too much; he knew he needed other wild dogs in his life... even if they were hyperactive and childlike.
He frowned a bit at her comment. "Yeah... I'm sorry," he murmured. "Really. Sorry." His frown deepened when she stuck her tongue out at him. If she weren't so sweet underneath, he'd be starting to lose his patience with her.
He sighed and pulled himself back together. "Yes, I can still hear. Thank you for asking." And no thanks for hollering. But he didn't say it.

Kinye seemed rather chipper now that all worrisome thoughts on her mind had been lifted by the clarification from Kich (even if he had gotten his brain scrambled by her yelling.. seemed to be a talent she had, brain scrambling..)
"Don't be sorry~" she insisted, puffing up her little chest. "It was -me- who misunderstood, afterall~" she beamed, ears perking up and tail wagging happily. It was amazing her tail hadn't fallen off yet.. or that this guy hadn't totally decided that she was loud and annoying, and started to ignore her.
Reizt did that sometimes, and it made her smile. It was cute when the blue WD lost his patience. He, however, didn't have the luxury of just dumping her as her new friend did.
"So... what were you doing out here until I came and demanded play?" the cream colored female inquired, seeming to mellow out a bit, something that had been coming to her with age, thus.. she tried to practice 'not being loud' at times.
It wouldn't last that long, though.

Kich breathed a small, subtle sigh of relief as he saw Kinye relax and cheer up. He wasn't sure what he'd do with her if she panicked again, or stayed angry. Actually, he wasn't sure what he was doing with her now... he supposed he was just going with the flow.
But he couldn't help but smile at her forgiveness. She may be... a little psychologically interesting... but he still found her endearing, like a little girl. He was rather glad he hadn't upset her too badly with his comment. He too wagged his tail, somewhat slightly. "Yes, but I should have been clearer," he countered to her own insistance.
He cocked his head to the side a bit as she asked him what he was doing before they met. He hadn't really thought of himself as doing anything. When he thought about it a moment, he finally replied, "Well... I was just walking really. I don't really have any family, or friends, so between eating and sleeping, I just kind of... wander..." He shrugged. "It's something to do."

Kinye's ears drooped a bit at what Kich said. "Oh..... how sad." she said, recalling her own rather large family she'd so happily ran away from when she was so much smaller. The space she now lived in without the pack was almost deafening to her. She missed it, but she'd never admit it.
"But no friends?" she suddenly piped, trying to look very insulted. "But -I'M- one of your friends, silly!" Kinye insisted, hopping to her paws and pacing around the older male in a circle, before sitting back down in what she estimated to be about the same spot.
It wasn't quite, but she wasn't about to admit that she'd been a bit off on her calculations.
"Life shouldn't just be 'something to do'! It should be something fun and exciting that's worth living~!" she chimed, tail again going off on it's happy wagging.
Kinye was one opinionated little girl.

Kichanga shook his head. "It's not that sad, really, I'm just as happy by myself as with others," he explained. At least, this was what Kichanga was trying to have himself believe, what he'd been trying to convince himself of for quite some time. He wasn't really... wasn't really happy without others. He'd grown up an only puppy, very close to his parents. But his parents passed away when he was just an adolescent, and since then he'd been quite on his own.
And then Kinye really surprised him. His eyes widened... but then he grinned. Friend? Kinye really thought of him as a friend already? He thought he had been perhaps an entertaining aquaintance, but not much more. "Well, I'm certainly flattered that you think of me as a friend," Kich told Kinye. "I think I really would like to count you as my friend." And his tail wagged about as hard as Kinye's then, which was fairly impressive for him.
He shifted and turned a bit to face her in her new place, and she surprised him once again. He was a little flustered now, uncertain of what to think about Kinye's adament life philosophy... he supposed she was right. "But... I'm just not sure how an old dog like me can keep his life exciting," he claimed. "It's different for you, certainly. You're still a young girl. Everything's still fairly new to you. I mean... I still like to wander, to see new sights and explore the world... but I've yet to see something really, genuinely new." He shrugged. He supposed he had just seen everything there was to see.

Kinye grinned as she was also deemed with official 'friend' status, proud of how her tail-speed had been passed on to the older male. She was infectious! Or.. something like that.. infectious.. obnoxious?
Reizt had said something of that nature once.
However, she had to tilt her head to the side a bit when he explained how he didn't really find anything new in his life anymore due to having seen many things already.
The cream colored female seemed to consider this for a minute, before shaking her head, refusing to believe it. "You only say that because you're lonely. You need to make more friends and travel with them, silly! I mean, if you don't have anybody to talk to, you might miss the little things other people notice, or you can't appreciate sitting in the shade having a nice conversation, or splashing someone at a river."
The adolescent female nodded firmly, as if this was absolutely true, since she'd researched it.
"And stop calling yourself -old-. You can't be any older than my father is, and he's nowhere -near- old. You only feel old because you make yourself -think- you are!"
This was followed by a look that was her attempt to brainwash him.

Certainly, Kich thought of Kinye as contageous. At least, her energy was. He felt energized in her presence. And he didn't find her obnoxious at all. Interesting, odd maybe... not obnoxious.
The next thing she said struck a very deep part of him. Wasn't this girl just full of surprises? He couldn't help but blush a little; he felt like she was invading his mind and soul. It was a very exposing feeling. He curled his tail around himself now, almost protectively. Maybe he really was lonely. He was realizing this now. "You're right..." he whispered, then trailed off. He wasn't sure what else to say. He stared at his off-white toes in thought.
He chuckled a little as Kinye insisted he wasn't old. "I guess I'm not," he murmured. "I'm just... older... All I know is I feel sore a lot, but that may be because of the travel, rather than age."
Eventually, though, he looked up, and he looked imploringly into Kinye's gaze with his olive eyes. "Miss Kinye," he began, regarding her with the utmost respect, "Would you and your friend Reizt mind terribly if I were to travel with you?"

Kinye also stared at his toes, pondering, internally, what was so distracting about them. Then again, her toes weren't special enough to be white.. so she was kinda jealous. But Reizt's toes were BLUE, so he won the award for coolest toes ever.
She looked up at Kich with her lavender eyes when his attention drifted from his toes, taking her attention away with it. Kinye tilted her head to the side as the older wild dog spoke, taking the effort to appeal to her mature side, which wasn't exactly big enough to appeal to normally, one of her ears flopping over one of her eyes from the motion.
"Well..." she considered his request with as much consideration as she could muster which, in her case, wasn't that much.
Well, Reizt was no fun, Kich was LOTS of fun... probably would keep her from driving her blue companion to the brink of insanity...
Hey!
"Y'know? I think he wouldn't mind that much. In fact, I think Reizt would -love- another friend!" she beamed, head straightening up, though her ear remained in it's -lovely- pose. "He'd probably like an introduction first though... probably means we need to go HUNT HIM DOWN!"
This declaration was met with the girl leaping to her paws, and waiting for her friend to do the same, so she could run off, screaming for the other male to come and meet him.

Kich waited in anticipation as Kinye processed his request in her dysfunctional brain. He tapped his paws and lashed his tail impatiently. He was a good dog, but he hated waiting. He wanted to know. Needed to know.
The tan wild dog had gotten himself so worked up that by the time an idea actually lit up Kinye's face, it took all Kich's energy to stop himself from jumping. "Really!? You think!?" he cried, lashing his tail in excitement. He was very nearly overjoyed. It had been a terrible long time since he'd had anyone to travel with, since he'd had any real friends. He knew this would be good for him... even if Kinye was a bit odd in the head, and no matter how bitter her friend Reizt might be.
And as he was wistfully pondering this idea, Kinye was hollering and on her feet. She was waiting, but Kich knew she wouldn't wait long. So, he shook himself out of his little daydream and went scrambling after the younger dog, to meet his new traveling companion.

The moment she saw that Kich was moving, Kinye was off and in action again, her tail wagging happily as she started back off towards where she had left the her blue companion (though he was only such in color, not persona...), though she looked back over her shoulder every now and then to make sure Kich was still there, before grinning and resuming the RUN OF DEATH.
"Hee! I can't -wait- to see his face when he meets you!" the sandy female yelled over one shoulder, then turned her attention back towards where she was going.
Once she paused to sniff the air and make sure she knew where she was going, before changing her direction a bit and running off towards a tree she could barely see in the distance.
"Bet I'll beetchu there!" Kinye then added.
It was time to go introduce the new friend to the old.
