Thoughts of her talk with Hayden suddenly flashed into her head. "Yes," Looking around a little bit, she frowned. "But I'm not sure what... But...Ha..." She bit her tonuge. "Someone I know here, said something along those lines... but didn't go into detail... I think they were scared that we were being watched..." Looking around again she got a chill.

Could they be being watched now? Could she be getting Hayden in trouble? She was worried now.

Samantha frowned as well. "Someone you know here? How long have you been here, exactly? Or if you have connections, maybe they know something..." She was just musing aloud at this point, trying to work through her own racing thoughts.

Rather than seeming fearful or nervous like Karen, Samantha seemed to only grow more intense as the conversation continued. "Ya' know, I'm getting really, really tired of all this secrecy and crap." Subconsciously starting to pop her knuckles again, she thought back to the conversation she'd had with Shawn on her first day out in the yard. "If I find out that I'm being used for something without my knowledge or okay...well, let's just say that someone is going to pay..."

"I've only been here a little while... and I wouldn't really call them connections... just one of the guards... Hayden... I like him," Karen laughed weakly and shook her head slowly. "We were talking... and... well... He's spooked about something... Like something isn't right here..."

She wanted to say that he knew... but she didn't want to put him that position, and for all she knew he just suspected, so she wasn't going to name him as a person to oust.

She cared for him, and didn't want to betray him.

"Hmm...interesting..." Samantha's analytical mind was turning now. She'd been presented with a mystery and she meant to solve it. Plus, she had landed smack dab in the middle of it, so it was sorta' personal.

"Wait...Hayden, was it? Why does that name sound familiar...? Can't say I've met him yet, but I think I've heard his name somewhere before..." She shrugged, dropping the issue for now. She'd think of where she'd heard that name later, when she wasn't trying.

"Something definitely isn't right here," Samantha continued. "I've been to plenty of places for experimental procedures and not one of them has had security anywhere near this insane. This is more than just some research facility for a new medical procedure. Something very weird is going on here and I plan to figure out what it is, one way or another." Unwittingly admitting more than she had intended, it was obvious that Samantha was getting careless due to her emotions. Looks like her fiery temper was going to get her in trouble again if she wasn't careful.

"Experimental medical procedure? You were sick?" Then biting her tonuge Karen waved a hand. "You don't have to answer that, in fact all of this is off the record, truth be told I don't have my stuff to write anything down, I really wanted to get to know you and well, some of it could be useful if I remember it, but the interview was more of an icebreaker than anything..." She smiled weakly and bowed her head a bit.

"I seem to be lacking friends at the moment, most of the people I called that are off the island, and I have no idea if I'll ever be leaving it again..."

Samantha paused long enough to smack herself in the forehead with her palm. "Thanks...to be honest, I'm getting sick of telling that story anyway, as well as the looks of pity that seem to accompany it." She glared at the ground for a moment before Karen's last sentence sunk into her brain.

"Wait a minute...what do you mean by that? Why wouldn't you be leaving the island?" Samantha's eyes narrowed in suspicion. What in all Hoenn was going on here?

She stood up rather suddenly, slamming her drink bottle down on the bench. "ARRGH! This is frustrating!" Pacing back and forth, she started thinking out loud again. "First, I show up for 'experimental medical treatment' and afterwards, no one will talk to me about anything, not even what they did while poking around in my insides! Then, I keep hearing about people getting strange injections and having gas pumped into their rooms...and now, you're saying they're not going to even let you leave the island again!" Stalking over to the punching bag, she let out all of her pent-up anger and fury into a single straight-arm cross, sending the bag swinging wildly, despite its weight.

Ignoring the bag, Samantha rubbed her fist and turned to shoot an icy glare towards the lab building. "I don't know about you, but I've had enough."

Karen sighed. "Hayden... commented on it... and I believe him..." Standing slowly she brushed her pants off carefully and shook her head again. "I didn't know people were gassed... that's... sinester..." She thought for a moment if anything like that had happened to her... strange injections? "I came to the island by helicopter..." She started mimicing Samantha. "I met Hayden for the first time, did a short interview with Dr. Hakan, drank some coffee, got Hayden to escort be back to my room... Started to hit on him... Passed..." Her face suddenly darked. "Passed out... woke up... Went to find Hayden again... He seemed a bit edgy..." She started to chew her lip. "Told me to be careful and that I probably won't get off this island again, in not so many words..."

Suddenly she started to fidget. "I hope I didn't get him in trouble..."

Samantha's look darkened, mirroring Karen's. "Sounds like they're using different methods on everyone. They're adapting. That's more dangerous than if they were just using the same routine on everyone. In your case, I'd say it was the coffee. Sounds like the best opportunity for them at least. Mine was easy. They knocked me out for the surgery and were free to do whatever the hell they wanted."

Practically growling as she considered the implications, Samantha's fury was quickly growing beyond anything she could possibly hide. "DAMMIT ALL!" she shouted, kicking the bag angrily and setting it swinging again. "What the hell did they do to me? What were they doing while poking around in my insides?!?" Breathing heavily, she clenched her fists so tightly that she practically dug her nails into her skin.

The door leading into the lab opened and a new figure slipped into the yard. Taking in the scene between the two woman just feet away, the woman grinned, raising the bottle she held to her lips and tipping it back. Drinking a generous portion before stopping, she smirked to herself, listening to the other women for a while.

"Tsk tsk," she interrupted at last, leaning against the wall and raising her voice to reach the other two. No need in actually joining them; she was more comfortable over here on her own. Despite all of her black clothing, the sun's warmth felt good and she took the chance to enjoy the sunlight for now. "You two have been here how long? And you're still clueless...how pathetic."

She laughed, but it was a harsh sound; not pleasant in the least. Glaring at them through her bright-blue slitted contacts, she smirked again as she took another swig from the bottle. At least Dr. Hakan had made good on his promise. This wasn't any cheap crap, that was for sure.

Karen turned, mid-stride to going to place a hand on Samantha's shoulder to try and calm her down. Frowning a little she raised a brow. "And you know what's going on?" She asked, eyeing the other woman up and down slowly, trying to gather as much information she could from first glance.

"They seem to be want to hiding it, since they wouldn't really tell me anything of much importance when I asked, and I'm writing for a paper, so if they'd tell you something, you must have some sort of leverage the either of us lack."

Like sleeping with the good doctor maybe...

Raising an eyebrow, Eliana grinned like a cat with a mouse in its paws.

"You really don't know, do you? I wasn't even serious before..." She pointed the bottle at the other two women, grinning arrogantly. "Guess you two just don't know the right questions to ask. Kinda' sad for a writer. Don't they teach you that sort of thing, sweet cheeks? You know, get the story, no matter what? Isn't that how it goes?"

She paused, eying the other woman. "And you. What the hell is wrong with you? You look like you're ready to gouge someone's eyes out or something. Lemme guess...you're Doc Hakan's niece, right? I've heard about you. Talk to your uncle recently?" she taunted.

The janitor peered out from under the brim of his cap, pulling long and deep from his cigarette. This one, he would be keeping an eye on.

Phil leaned on his broom, not even pretending to be busy anymore. The new girl- well, he'd met her type before.
More than met, actually, on several occasions.
Talking like that, she wouldn't be making any friends- Especially not with the hot-headed Samantha. And despite the very recent martial display by the latter, Phil suspected Sam might have to be careful around this one.
She's going to play dirty.

Phil smirked. Who are you in bed with, Missy? Who gave you that bottle?
Who's pocket do you think you're in, that you believe you can get away with alienating other people when already in an alien situation?

Things were going to get interesting. He liked games like these.

As if she wasn't angry enough before...

"Rrrrnnngh!" Slamming her fist into the punching bag with all her strength once more, Samantha whirled around, eyes flashing dangerously as she sized up the new arrival. "Alright, I don't know who you think you are, and I don't particularly care. What I do want to know is what right you think you have to stalk in here like you own the place, strutting around like some self-important little peon, and doing everything in your power to absolutely piss me off!!!" Breathing heavily with fists clenched tightly, it was all Samantha could do to hold her ground and keep from dashing across the yard and smashing that damned beer bottle over the woman's smug face.

Sure, she'd been known to have a fiery temper, but she'd neve experienced a fury quite like this before. Of course, between the strange circumstances of the past few weeks, in addition to her suspicions that she was being used and any number of side-effects from the drugs of the surgery...it was no wonder. It would pass as long as she could hold on for a few minutes without pummeling the obnoxious woman.

This could prove difficult.

Eliana snorted derisively, shaking her head with amusement. "You call me the 'self-important peon?' Don't tell me you haven't been strutting around here, acting like you're something special just 'cause you're Doc Hakan's niece and he got you in here easy. Some of us had to work to get in here," she practically spat in Samantha's direction. Her slitted eyes were narrowed dangerously as if daring the other woman to try something.

Like she was supposed to be impressed by that little show of anger a minute ago? Yeah, right. As if that was supposed to scare her.

Karen reached out and gently placed her hand on Samantha's shoulder. "Samantha, I really don't think she's worth having an annurism over..." She said gently, turning her eyes to Eliana.

She was insulted at the crack about her intellegence, but there were other ways to screw these people over, and kicking their a** wasn't one of them. This would take some time... and some plotting, but it was do able.

Turning her gaze back to Samantha she wanted to make sure the woman at least tried to calm down before she sugested that they go elsewhere to talk, no since in having something start.
