I'm not trying to be defensive... then again I read into characters a lot...

But shouldn't we keep giving LKH a chance? Maybe right now she doesn't know how to deal with all the "sex". It's like a writer's block. She makes a situation and she's trying to figure a way out without being flamed by her readers?

Yes...and that's why I have kept reading her books...pushing through the sex and trying to find the awesomeness again. I'm not trying to flame her. On the contrary I love her and I want her to do better...ya know?

Thanks for not jumping my s**t for voiceing my opinion though...
I appreciate it.

*looks offended... then laughs* We wouldn't do that! We of Anita-verse love must stay united!

I think what LKH doesn't understand about all of us who continually complain about all the sex Anita is having, is that we LOVE Anita. We are so loyal to the Anita we met in GP-OB that the morphing of the character we love is just so shocking. I keep holding my breath that maybe she will make the stories about the mysteries, cop plots & zombie plots that we fell in love with. I am not saying Anita should become a prude or a nun, but the changes are just so drastic, I am still in shock. But she can and does write the stories as she sees fit. That is her perogative.

Thank you Narniakat! You summed it up in one post. That's how I feel. I want more of the meaty story of Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter.

I think the sex can be cut down... but not... alot, but I have to say the best part of the begining of the series was anticipating the sex. The first few books that were sexless while Anita is surrounded by the sexiest men alive, was like torture. My favorite book is blue moon when she finally sleeps with Richard after calling the munin. Hawt.. <3 but if LKH had just kept each book to like a few... sex scenes I would have been happy. Or maybe had just increased the sex alot for the books where Anita was struggling with her new powers, then toned it down. Also you have to remember Anita's healing, and the way she basically taps into the trio's power is through sex, and touch, [healing - sex , trio -touch.]. So yes she is going a tad over board, but it will eventually tone down I think.

I don't think shes doing it with the intentions a lot of the negative reviewers believe (obviously not in this guild, but on sites around the web). I think the sex is really supposed to be more... representive of Anita pushing her way out her comfort zone and into the arms of the monsters. You know, showing the only way to destroy the monsters is through understanding them. Also, I think it actually helps Anita understand Jean Claude more.... whom I wish very deeply to see more of in the future. The sex has been... blaring... but Im almost positive itll cut back. None could expect it to be gone, though (like a few people on the web have asked for) because sex appeal was even in the TITLE of the very first book! (which I found hilarious due to the reactions of others who saw the title)

That's also a good point. I see what you mean...I don't want it GONE! surprised
I just don't want it to be every other page...

I just really hope she doesn't do the same thing shes doing with the Merry story and cut the last book up into three smaller books just to make money. It was annoying to read the latest gentry book and have the story be like a tiny fragment of what it usually is.

I will keep reading lkh's books , anita and merry, only because I just adore the characters so much it would be very hard to not read them but I just remembered that along with edward she has cut a few other people out of anita's life like dolph for one and they had a decent relationship businesswise going and were ok as friends. all this like massive orgy spontaneous sex has like driven alot of her closest human friends away and I think taking that side of her out of the story is kind of wrong. I do want to see more necromancy come back into the picture and hear more about her partners at work again. those small things added to her personality along with her harem of hot men !!!

I havent gotten to obsidian butterfly yet, but even though I heard theres a lot of sex in the later sirese I'm still collecting all of the books. I read merry gunthry, couldn't get past the first page cause' there was nothin' but sex.

Now dont get me wrong, I dont mind sex, but I do if its on every other page. Or if its in places thats not nessisairy. But whatever, maybe i'll like this still. Oh well, no matter what I'm sticking with AB.

i understand that anita now has the ardeur to deal with but couldn't LKH, if not actually cutting back on the sex but just not always have to go into so much detail every single time she has sex and then there'd be more room for an actual storyline.

i agree wholeheartedly. it was like a short story that really got nothing done with the storyline much.

I remember when I first started reading AB one thing I really liked about it is that at the end SOMETHING got accomplished. The storyline of her and JC and Richard kept going and had no resolution but the murder she was investigating got solved and the main conflict in the book was solved. It left you with a sense of SOMETHING being accomplished and yet anticipating the next book to see where the JC and Richard issue was going...I really wish that style was back. I was very shocked when I read the first "no definite ending" book. I felt cheated. :sigh: like I said before...it's something I EXPECT from Merry...but I really wish it didn't pollute the AB books.
