Briar nodded as he stood up and offered a paw to help Kechara to her feet. "The lake shouldn't be too far from here," he said, thankful that they weren't all the way on the other side of the Gummy Tree Forest or by the Candy Mountain, both of which were quite a long walk from the lake. "If your leg starts hurting though, let me know," he told her. "My offer of a back ride still stands."

Kechara stifled a giggle with a paw and nodded once. "I'll do that..." She wouldn't, of course. That would burden Briar even more and she couldn't do that to him, he had already down so much for her. Her wound throbbed with her heartbeat but she didn't show her pain, she had learned that as well.
She followed his red form, glancing around fearfully for any sign of the monster who had scared her so much earlier.

Briar led the way toward the lake, and an awkward silence fell over them as they walked. He hated those kind of silences.
"How to you wound your leg?" he asked and winced. That probably wasn't the greatest choice of conversation topic.

Kechara blinked at the question but welcomed the change in the atmosphere from it, "Oh..." She flushed, "I was going to go into the forest to get some food..." She replied softly, "And I didn't see where I was going..." She shrugged dismissively, glad he was in-front of her, "And I tripped." She flushed again at the thought, why was she so clumsy?

Briar frowned a little. He knew Kechara had a bit of a clumsy streak, but he decided it was best not to comment. Everyone had their clumsy moments, after all. "I nearly got stuck on a ledge on the Candy Mountain," he admitted. "A friend and I tried to climb it, but I ended up being too heavy for her to carry even a little way up. I'm kind of fat." He paused briefly to poke at his belly as though that offered absolute proof that he was fat.

Kechara blinked and smiled faintly, "Really?" She laughed a bitbut frowned and sped up until she was next to him, ignoring the throbs from her gash, "You're not fat, Briar!" She replied sternly, "Not fat at all." She pursed her lips defiantly, "Maybe your friend just was too weak to carry you?" She glanced around again, "I've never been to "Candy Mountain"." She told him softly, "Is it a nice place?" She was far enough away from her home that she didn't recognize any of the landmarks.

Briar chuckled. "Okay. Maybe not fat, but I'm certainly not that light," he said, smiling at Kechara. "Candy Mountain is a fairly nice place. I found this nice little sweet pea like things there. But they're on the ledge..." He trailed off briefly. "But the lake is a pretty place to visit."

Kechara smiled, "Of course not. All males have muscle on them...." She trailed off, her smile fading as her mind remembered the past. She focused on Briar's description of places to keep herself out of the hole. She smiled again, "Well, if you ever want them....I'll be sure to help." She looked around again, for any signs of both monsters and water.

"Heh, I don't think I'm all muscles," Briar said with a hint of a chuckle. He caught the fading smile on Kechara's face, and he frowned himself, though didn't comment. Whatever troubled Kechara might be better left forgotten than to dwell on it. "I think it would be better for me to lose some weight before we try flying up to the ledge."

Kechara gave him a half-smile, "Whatever you say, Briar." She replied genially, "But you're still not fat." She brushed her hair out of her face with her un-stained hand and tried her best to ignore the growing pain from her leg. They lapsed into silence again and Kechara finally heard the faint sounds of water. "Is...is that it up ahead?" She asked, pointing in the direction of the sounds.

Briar still considered himself on the heavy side, though it was probably best not to argue it. He could exercise to lose some weight, and that would be that. "Huh?" he asked baffled at first until he paused and heard the sound of water up ahead. A grin spread over his face. "That's the lake all right! Not that far away now."

Kechara glanced at him and nodded silently at his statement, thankful they were getting close. They hadn't found any bandages though, it seemed she was going to have to use her bows afterall-no, hopefully-she wish fervently for this-they'd find some before she had to use her bows. She shivered slightly, remnants from her episode earlier and the growing cold. She should have asked to borrow Ryuune's scarf.

Briar continued leading the way to the lake. He kept an eye out for anything that could be used in making bandages. The lake had just come into sight when he paused, spotting something.
"Wait here a moment," he told Kechara before he bounded off toward the left. When he returned, he was carrying a blanket that he had found by some bushes. "I could rip this into strips to use for bandages," he suggested.

Kechara blinked and nodded once in responce before Briar fled to retrieve something. Her eyes lit up with relief, "Yes...!" She replied, smiling happily, "That will be perfect!" She glanced at the lake, "But perhaps I should clean it first?" She laughed softly, "There wouldn't be much of a point in coming otherwise..." She flushed again, she just talked as if she were an idiot. Of course Briar knew such things, he suggested this in the first place! "S-sorry!" She cried, glancing away nervously.

"Right you are!" Briar agreed when Kechara mentioned cleaning the wound. He blinked at her sudden apology. "You don't have to say sorry," he told her. He really didn't understand why she was apologizing. "Let's head the rest of the way to the lake," he said, directing the conversation away from that. "Then we can clean the wound and the blood." He brush a paw over a blood and tear stained cheek.
