"Raccoons appear everywhere, especially at night." Flashing a smile, he nodded his head upwards towards the tree and further along towards the small hollow at the end of one branch. "They usually sleep during the day, but if you listen carefully you can hear some of them - especially the children." His eyes grew warm as he watched the younger cubs flit about the trees...no doubt their parents would not appreciate the gesture.

"At night, you can usually see them um..." He searched for an appropriate word to describe the activities of the creatures, they were thieves after all. "Borrowing the savoury delights offered by the humans?" He ventured, raising a brow at his own ridiculous choice of words, but it was such a difficult thing to decide upon.

"Really?" Glow smiled. "They sound so adorable! Oh i wish i had a little friend." she smiled and giggled a little. "My only friends are the flowers really..." she said lightly, smiling. "and though many think less of them they are wonderful things. and t hey are great at keeping secrets."

"Ah, so you are an avid conversationalist." He mused as he coaxed the raccoon from his wing and folded them once more, nudging it back towards the tree where it's siblings resided. All in all, they were a lively lot but their thieving wasn't malicious, so perhaps that was why he never quite treated them so strictly as other thieves...

"And a botanist." He continued, canting his head to the side in thought as his lips pursed. She was a very shy individual and regardless of what he did, he suspected she may not be completely at ease in his presence - he wasn't that bad, surely?

"Pray tell, what do they say when they speak?"

The mare perked up a bit at his question. She'd never had anyone really to talk to. "well....if you listen closely you can hear them sing..." she closed her eyes, smiling softly, swaying to an unknown tune. "Its so relaxing...and it takes away my fears..." she slowly opened her eyes and looked at him. "THey make me feel like i belong...like i am loved." she blushed a little.

[[Happy b-day Lita!]]

"Understandable, many of those I speak with would say the same thing of that which they love most as well." Grencia motioned skywards with his muzzle and smiled, "For example, I know of a few wind soquili who would claim that the winds are their friends, that they sing and whisper...while there are those who would claim rocks did the same."

He fell silent for a time at this and flicked his gaze towards the flowers in a reasonably thoughtful manner, they hadn't yet bloomed but it was only a matter of time.

"Or water, water is one I have heard before." He murmured faintly, shaking his head as he fixed the smile to his lips again and canted his head to the side. "It is a rare thing when one finds a sense of serenity in something so simplistic, it speaks volumes about their character."

"Complex things are busy things...busy things are just so..busy..and make everyone anxious...the smaller somthing seems the bigger its voice...weather or not you listen to what they say..." she said lightly, nodding. SHe smiled lightly.. "I'm glad you don't think i'm insane."

((thanks! ^^))

"If you were insane then my own mental state would be questionable." Grencia was glad to see the young mare relaxing considerably with each passing moment and offered another of his smiles. That was not to say that he was about to approach her as personal space was exceptionally valuable...or so he might assume.

"Am I to assume that you are new to these lands?" He continued, canting his head to the side as he continued to survey the pale mare, "One such as yourself...Well I would find it terribly difficult to believe that your only companions are flowers - you are a pleasure to be near."

"Well i have met others...a few mares...a stallion or two...but often i am just with flowers...its...calming and i'm never scared around flowers..." she explained. "but around others i becoem frightened and skiddish and i...like my two-legged, tend to avoid others of my kind..."

"I see." He wasn't entirely certain he could fully understand her point but he did appreciate time alone as well. He wasn't scared of company so much as he enjoyed having enough space to think but all the same... He offered a slight smile at her attempt to explain and briefly recalled his own two-legger, ah yes, Ayegali.

Rarely seen and never heard, his two-legger was as difficult as his target to locate on occasions but she always had a knack for showing up just at the right moment.

"You are close to your human, I assume?"

She nodded. "I am. Vary close. After all i have little friends and it is only me and her at our Teepee. But its vary nice and she is great company and knows me really well, and i know her fell. Do you have a human you stay with?"

"I reside nearby a teepee but I do not stay there so to speak." Grencia made no secret of his location, he had no need to in the given circumstances. "However I do have a bond with one two legger, we do not rely on one another for company though...she simply appears when she is required." He gave a slight ruffle of his feathers before releasing a sigh.

Yes. Usually the human he spoke of would appear when he was injured, distressed or otherwise in need of company. In that, they had an incomprehensible bond but they never roamed side by side on one a regular basis.

"We have an understanding, we respect one another...but we do not live with one another." He added, canting his head to the side as he kept his gaze on the mare. "She came with me from across the slopes."

"well...even if you are not close, its still good to have one around to help. they know things or ways of helping what only a human could do..." she said. she prefered others company as well. seh never liked to be alone unless she chose to, and even then is was only for short times...she always found somone or thign to talk to.

That was an understatement. Grencia was fairly certain that there were times when he would have been in serious trouble had Ayegali not come. Then of course, there were times when he knew he would never had been the way he was without her. After all, a soquili couldn't braid his own mane or tail, he couldn't attach feathers to his hair and so forth...really, in the long term it was beneficial to have one.

"Indeed, I find it rather peculiar that some do not have a companion such as that." He replied at last, brushing his thoughts to the side as he offered a small smile, "I suspect I wouldn't be the way I am without the two-legger and her companionship."

Glow nodded. "you know, i've talked to somone before who has a twolegged friend, but he says she doesn't like him around! that doesnt' make any sense to me....does that make sense to you?" she asked.

"The logic of humans and other soquili frequently evades me." Grencia replied evasively, indicating that it made little sense to him as well. It was true that one couldn't look into the life of another and thus he could only assume that the bond that linked the pair was only one they could understand. Perhaps there were circumstances that led to the unwillingness or perhaps it was an interpretation that had turned out to be false.

Regardless, Grencia was not one to comment.

"Mayhaps she prefers her freedom, or mayhaps there are alternative reasons. Who knows? Sometimes it is best to simply observe the events that transgress before us and contemplate their courses once they draw to some form of conclusion." He mused.

If he was entirely honest, there were times when he didn't want his own human to be there but that was somewhat difficult to explain...
