The realisation that other people were also roaming around the stalls and bonfire didn't make Niksia nervous as such, but the urge to cover the lower part of her face overtook. It wasn't that she needed her telltale scarf as such, she just grew rather attached to covering up some of her expressions. Her eyes were generally telling though, she wasn't overly worried about people understanding her emotions, even with the scarf on.

She missed it, as she stopped just shy of the bonfire and glanced at the people nearby. One pink haired woman (That was distinctive!) and a dark haired man talking to her (No surprise on a day like this.).

Just then another man approached, it was certainly getting busy fast. Niksia smirked to herself as she watched, this wasn't exactly an unexpected result.

Julian could only speculate on how exactly he ended up with a Kissing Booth. There were plenty of options, most of which involved pleasing Chloe Star and the good doctor, but none of which explained exactly how the man became a possible object of physical affections. Besides, who would honestly go to Julian Sweet's booth to kiss a man who was anything but the adjective his last name described? That was the type of thing Julian was riding on, actually. Nobody in their right mind would go to his booth, and even the usual crazies were generally not completely unaware of their own well-being.

The only good that could come out of the young Dr. Sweet handling his own booth was that it gave him time to work on his studies. By the number of textbooks stacked near Julian's chair, there was quite a lot to work on.

Gage, on the other hand, was quite pleased to have been assigned his current task. As he frequently if not always wore a mask, the radioactive Raevan was deemed a prime worker for the stall that did not require bare lips. With a good amount of cheer, he did his best to organize the various foods, hoping someone would soon choose to purchase some treat or other. Slowly, the Frei was getting over his shyness, and while he would never be a people person praise was never a bad thing.

Paticularly if it was from someone important. Very important.

Floating, half-hidden in the back of the refreshment booth, a silver-haired Raevan poked its head out into the world, peering at the people coming in for the party. Nervous wasn't the word for what he was feeling, if feeling is what it was to begin with. Rather...a sense of curiosity, of wondering what his place in the world was.

Kalec is what they had named him when he had been released from the stasis cell just for this event. He looked around at these brethren of his, or at least they must be even though they each looked entirely unique, and saw their guardians with them. A twinge happened in his chest as he glanced around, a pain that wasn't a physical pain. He was an analytical being, but was this some sort of emotion?

He was a brand new being inside a world that he knew nothing about. He could be in an illusionary world, what he touched, saw, heard, and felt - senses he had begun to learn about as soon as he had opened his eyes - could all be some sort of vast illusion. But there was a certainty there. The certainty that if he was in fact being tricked, and deceived in some way, HE at least existed. That thought gave him comfort.

Within the span of an hour, this intelligent and almost genius-like Raevan had begun to analyze the world around him, noting the tunnels and trying to figure out what they represented. Trying to understand what this event was about.

Love. Thats what they told him this holiday was about. What was this term? He had never experienced...this...Love thing. In fact, he could hardly feel emotions at all. Except for this awful emptiness in his heart, that he couldn't quite fill no matter how much energy he consumed.

At least he was a fast learner, he thought, the fundamental concepts of language formulating in his mind to give him coherent thinking. It seemed like, whenever he got closer to others, that hole in him began to fill a little. And there was another ache in him as well. One that craved knowledge. He hated being in the dark.

Maybe, he thought, maybe if he moved up closer to the front of the booth and interacted with people, he would learn more.

He had already captured the essence of the words that had been spoken around the area when things were being set up. A word came to his mind, something Chloe had said while she was helping make the booth he was in.

"Re..." He paused, trying to get his mouth around the word. "Refresh...ments anyone?" He tried to move his mouth to make what he saw others do when they were trying to be friendly, and the result was a smile that was a little -too- bright.

Rivener's forward advance slowed to a displeased stop as he neared Roux. The Ice Raevan had seen him coming, and didn't seem happy about it? Rivener frowned. He glanced at the Booth's sign without really paying attention when Roux pointed at it. He was more concerned with why Roux wasn't happy to see him.

Putting the camera away for now, hanging it at his wrist by the cord hoop, Rivener floated a little bit closer to Roux.

"Aren't you happy to see me?" he asked, slightly hurt, strangely insulted. "It's been so long since I've seen you, and not even a hint of a smile?"

Aphismet had chuckled at Chloe's praise of his work. "I did my best. I hope everyone likes them... Maybe we should go back later and try to win some!"

Then an odd man had interrupted them. When he'd lifted his clawed hands, Aph startled and took a step back in reflex, immediately stepping back into place and clearing his throat, hoping Chloe hadn't noticed. After a moment, he managed to talk. "Y-yes, there are many events here... The Kissing Booths, the refreshment stands, the T-Tunnel of, erm... And the Lucky Pan. Please enjoy your stay," he concluded with as welcoming a smile as he could muster (which wasn't very much).

Sam noticed the pink haired lady had to pause before answering and the man that had been near her had taken a step back. He was used to it. "Ahh, to make funds for the lab..." he trailed off as his mind worked, "Thank you for your help." He gave a large grin just to show off his pointy teeth and make her nervous, although that didn't seem to be too big a task. This woman was practically a walking bundle of nerves! Sam half wanted to pay for her to kiss him, but that would be funding the horrific lab. So, instead he gave her a sly smile, a promise of future interaction.

He broke himself off from the booth and headed for the next booth he saw, a dice game. Trying to look focused on what he was doing and look like he was having fun. He completely missed the raevans as he approached the dice game. Giving a brief look over of the rules he gave the dice a quick toss.

The feeling of vague displacement was bothering Niksia, she didn't want to get involved in a conversation that was already gaining participants by the moment. She stuck out her bottom lip in a thoughtful gesture, as she scooted away from the pink haired woman and her current conversation.

"Refresh...ments anyone?"

The words were faint but just enough to catch her attention. Niksia turned toward the sound, unaware that one hand was still creeped up under her chin in a faintly protective gesture.

She blinked at the source of the voice...

'...'

Words failed her ever so suddenly.

Alex basked in the warmth of the bonfire. She wasn't even that close to it, but she could feel it from the outer-most tents. Her green eyes skimmed those gathered, and before she could walk any closer to the fire, she froze. Her mind kicked into gear, trying to put together the pieces she saw. For the life of her, she didn't know what she was looking at.

There were...half people. Humanoid on top, and ribbons on the bottom. No lesson in her anthropology or zoology career had mentioned anything like this before! She grasped at tales that she had read long ago, stories passed off as mere myth, but they retreated into the bright surprise of what filled her vision.

A beautiful red and black humanoid was...floating near lovely blue and white one. She thought there were more, but she couldn't tear her eyes away from the first two she saw. Something in her head clicked, and she realized that the two before her were males. She also noticed some vaguely animal-like qualities to the beings; the black and red one had an arachnid-like appearance and attire, while the blue and white was more aviary. It was only when the numb shock wore off that she realized she was staring, if not gaping.

Alex quickly tucked her head down, walking close to the sharp heat of the bonfire. As she moved, she could have sworn she heard one of them talking. Her mind was reeling; she had studied creatures both mythological and real, but she still wasn't prepared for these inbetween beings. They were intelligent, and beautiful, and very, very real.

She stopped a few feet from the fire, turning to observe them again. What type of Lab had she passed on the way here?

"Darn didn't win anything," Sam said only half truthfully. He turned away from the booth and his eyes found themselves on the refreshments booth.

Sam's mind and face were a complete blank for a second. "Uhhh," he made a noise as his brain worked on the visual puzzle before him. Woman, yes, fine, other people... floating.. torsos... what? Suddenly he realized the answer; this was the new life the lab was creating! And they were using them a slave laborers how horrible! He strode over to the stand quickly, glancing this way and that for suspicious scientists. They'll probably starve them or torture them if they don't meet a quota or something! That silver one looks scared, or confused. Sam's mind invented fictitious horrors of the lab. "I'll have two glasses of lemonade! he said a bit loudly to the green one. He must help these poor 'Raevans'!!

Kalec caught the eyes of Niksai as she looked towards him, his silver-purple hair half-covering his face. Her mouth was half open and she seemed to be in shock. If thats what you called it. He couldn't be sure.

"...Is..Is something wrong, madam?" He blinked back at her, through locks of silver hair. His eyes were rather interesting, one was grey and the other was more of darker color. His skin, if thats what it was, had the smooth shine of metal but looked soft to the touch as well.

There would be more time to analyze this girl later, somewhere within him, he understood that he was supposed to be being hospitable, and so he stopped his own staring. He had been told it seemed like he was staring, and that this practice was uncomfortable to humans, even though he certainly didn't mind it. He smiled and gestured at the refreshments behind him.

"W...would you like something to eat?...or drink?"

Gage was not nearly so consumed with the idea of "love", for it was entirely mapped out in his mind. When he had first been introduced to the concept, he had questioned his guardian, and since then had been very content with the explanation provided. "Love is fleeting" was all Julian had offered, and it was all Gage needed to know about the emotion. As far as he could tell, St. Valentine's must have been a day meant for loss. It was a celebration of happiness which somehow represented sorrow, because surely nothing that was lost so easily could bring joy. The reasoning was heavily flawed, but the outcome was pleasant. Besides, plenty of distractions kept Gage from thinking on it further. Various sights, sounds, and smells assaulted the Frei all at once, like a hurricane racing across his senses. A flash of pink hair meant Ms. Chloe was about, and that steady feeling of confusion came quite pointedly from Rivener's appearance. Everyone was gathered together and the resulting feeling was warm.

It had to be the opposite of "love".

Eyes wide, as though he hoped to take the entire view in, Gage turned to look over his booth-mate. It was another Raevan, though a far more elegant looking one with long silver hair and very pale skin. At once, the coward within Gage flinched, deciding it might be best not to talk with someone a good deal more impressive. Yet, he could not help but think it would be a very lonely existance if he never spoke to all of the many people that were easier on the eyes than himself. Sooner or later he would need to muster up a little courage.

Cordially and quietly, he offered but a few words in the other's direction. "I am Gage."

However, Gage did not have much time to try and start a conversation. Soon enough one of the people with legs was requesting his attention; the order of lemonade was something the Raevan felt he dare not miss. Glancing up and down the length of the stall, Gage quickly located two pre-poured cups, gathering them up in either hand before presenting them to the human.

Roux stared blankly at Rivener, as though digesting his words and thinking carefully on them. He was happy, yes. He liked Rivener, a rare thing for the Raeven, but he didn't desire being seen in this state. He clutched the edge of his booth, frost forming on the wood and making it crackle slightly as tension and frustraition began to build in him.

A small breeze gusted from behind, causing a few more precious feathers to loosen and flutter on the breeze - no less than five - and flutter to the ground only to be cast about further in small swirls of snow and wind.

He looked with the same blank expression at the ground just before him, the wind getting just a -little- chillier in the area around him, the frost spreading out along the stand.

His cheeks were quite visibly red, lips pressed thin together. An unfamiliar emotion was racing through him, squeezing at his heart and lungs tightly so it felt hard to breath.

Chloe watched Sam walk away with definate curiosity before turning back to Aphismet and leaning against her booth. "How have you been?"

She half mindedly glanced down along the line of booths, catching a glimpse of familiar red hair bent over a book, a small smile softening her features before she turned her attention - and the smile - back to Aphismet.

When Kalec started to speak to her Niksia stopped gawking, mostly. She walked slowly toward the refreshment booth, a faint smile apparent on her face. The colour of his hair caught her eye, drawing her still slightly shocked gaze from his face.

'Nothing wrong, I'm just a little easily caught off guard tonight...'

The hand under her chin creeped up some more, as if trying to find a way toward her face without being noticed. Her other hand touched gently on the booth as she got as close as she was comfortable with.

'There is a lot on offer, by the looks of things. A little glass of Lemonade might be nice, actually.'

Niksia's smile deepened, she was slowly getting over that first shock of realising she wasn't looking at anything human. Or maybe just partly human... She was still pondering that while she tried rather slyly to get a look at Kalec while he wasn't paying too much attention.

"Thanks," he said his voice a bit tight just from being around other thinngs he knew to be expiriments. The green one had said somehitng to the other one, "I am Gage," it had said. Sam puzzled this for a second and then dropped the thought to adress other manners at hand, like drinking two lemonades at once. "Ahh... hmmm..."

He glanced at another booth and slyly siddled over and set the second glass down, as if misplacing it. He siddled back to the refreshments booth and decided to stare at the raevans.

Puchiko had been rather surprised to see a strange invitation in her mailbox, given her prior behavior in the labs. She would have thought - rightfully so - that the Labs would want nothing to do with their self-proclaimed arch nemesis and her pilfered goods. Still, it couldn't hurt to go - perhaps there would be free food, which Puchiko could certainly do with. She hadn't had anything aside from reheated pizza for the past week.

Of course she was mostly going for reconnaissance. Explore the enemy territory and all that. So with her stolen items placed in a drawstring pouch by her hips, Puchiko headed out towards the designated area, a pen tucked behind her ear and a notebook stashed in her jacket. In case she needed to take notes.

Who knew? Maybe she could exchange some strong, angry words with this so-called "Dr. Kyou." Doctor of STUPID was her guess.

She approached the festival area with an air of wary suspicion, fingers poised over her pouch in case anyone tried to steal it from her. Within the pouch itself the arrow turned and twirled idly, seeming almost bored with the affair. It was good thing it wasn't visible. Soon as she stepped into the area she noticed a fair amount of floating, half-formed beings - not unlike the one she had first encountered, she supposed - wandering round the premises, along with normal people. Curious. Perhaps she'd be able to study one later -

But for now, she wanted food. Hand placed protectively over her pouch, Puchi scurried towards a nearby booth, manned by a man who looked none too pleased with the going-ons.

"Where's the grub?" she asked, eyeing her poor victim - the man of the hour was Julian, unfortunately for him.

This was one of the things that Josh loathed with a passion… the cold. He shot a glare up at the heavens as if asking why they sent down this torture to him. Josh shivered unpleasantly as he pulled the large orange coat and pale brown scarf that adorned his form tighter around himself. The clothes that confined Josh’s body were nearly unbearable; as they threatened to cut off his circulation and covered up most of him skin save for his eyes. It was worth it though for the soothing heat that they brought.
~~~~
Josh was heading out to the Lab 305’s Valentine’s festival. The boy had heard of it around his school and found that the information immediately stirred his curiosity. Josh arrived at the festival in his usual late fashion and stopped to look over the set up. He stared at the large banners and clichéd colored decorations in awe. His eyes skimmed feverishly over they current occupants of the area. There were a few people he hadn’t seen before. With that he decided to make his entrance. Josh arrived at what appeared to be the front gates. He stepped forward from the small line of people and gave a cheery smirk at Ms. Chloe. “Hello.” He stared down to the bowl before him and examined the dice. Once he understood that it was a game he gave it a try.
