Jacob looked up from his paper to the building in front of him and raised his eyebrows.
There was no way in hell this was the place. Just...no.
He looked up at the big red hearts painted on the building, but for some reason felt ridiculous himself. He looked around him to make sure there wasn't anyone giving him funny looks for just /being/ outside a building this weird. For a moment, he almost considered just turning around and going home. Then again, curiosity killed the cat.
Wait. That wasn't as encouraging as it was supposed to be.
"Well..." he paused and looked around him again. You never know when people might seemingly jump out of alternate dimensions in order to stare whenever you are in an awkward situation. "It can't be that bad... can it?" he told himself out loud. Still, as he walked under the large banner and through the ludicrously decorated red doors, he couldn't help but think he would regret this.

Ari smiled sheepishly. It wasn't too bad talking to Dacian. He had always been nice and rather cheerful, which was never hard to handle. "Um...I'm doing alright," she murmured, fingering the bottom of her skirt unconciously. She didn't think she was going to get used to it at all. "The decorations are really beautiful...don't think I could have done better," she nodded. Not that she had ever done a party like this or anything.
Ina blinked and shook her head, "No no, silly! What ur name? I INA!" She needed a name, how else would she call the other girl if she wanted to play or have her follow or something? Names were very important! Even her puppy had a name, so why wouldn't this girl? Unless she was born nameless? How horrible!

As Jacob entered, there was a bowl of candy hearts right inside the door - practically begging to be eaten.
Dacian gave Ari a rueful glance when he noticed her fiddling with her skirt. "Sorry about the costume...it might not have been the best idea to let Ahneta design them."
Feeling his ego puff up a bit, Dacian held his head a proud angle. He thought it made him look refined.
More like it made him look quite silly, but how was he to know?

Ophiera reflexively opened her mouth to respond, as she was so used to seeing Natalie do. But of course, nothing came out. So she pointed to her open mouth, instead. Then she smiled again.
Ina was a pretty name! So was Ophiera, but she couldn't tell Ina, nono. Hm. What to do...

If he felt awkward before, Jacob felt even more so now. He couldn't tell where the music was coming from, and then there was the people! What circus did they come from?
He looked to his side at the bowl of candy. "Take some"? He double checked that that was actually what it said. He wanted to take one badly, but it was getting really hot. He felt so out of place, not sure if he knew anyone there or not. All he could do was loiter by the door until he saw someone he knew. Did the sign really say he could have some? He checked again. No, the sign hadn't changed. Still... he didn't care if the sign said "Take some", dammit! He needed to make absolutely sure! Still, he reached for a piece and slipped it into his pocket until then.

Dacian looked up from his conversation with Ari, and grinned at the man who had just entered.
"Jacob!"
The newest guardian...probably rather nervous, considering that he was the only one he knew, so he made a waving gesture to direct him over. Hm...the man didn't have on a costume yet? Had he not eaten the candy hearts?
Well, he'd correct that.

Ari laughed a little, "It's ok...it's really not that bad." Haha, she was lying through her teeth. But...concidering this was Ahneta they were talking about, it could have been way worse. However, it was impossible not to smile truly at his look. He really did look funny...holding his head like that. It didn't suit him.
Ina frowned. "Wha? You not talk? Did a pixie steal ur voice?" she asked with a very dog-like c**k of her head and a blink of her eyes. Mommy had read her stories about pixies and witches doing things like that. Maybe that was what happened to this funny girl!

The apocalypse must be descending, for Patricia was actually attending a social event. This was probably the most ridiculous holiday in existence, yet for some reason she couldn't help but at least show up. Maybe for just five minutes. Alright, maybe longer. Despite the obvious festivities--whoever chose those decorations had a very interesting sense of style--she insisted in staying in her own style of monochrome black. Basically every part of her was covered, from a high-collared neck to the ends of her ankles where her dress swished back and forth.
Gavin held onto her hand tightly. So much red! And hearts everywhere. What was going on? Friends? Friends were fun! At a glance he could see Natalie and Ari, which must mean that Ophi and Ina were there too. Okay, so missing Hawk Man for this didn't seem so bad anymore.
Patricia spotted the bowl of candy. Usually she avoided such guilty pleasures, but considering she had already taken a giant leap by even coming...why not? She popped one in her mouth, letting the sweetness melt on her tongue.

Jacob stared at the man waving at him. At least he knew the guy but... why the pirate...
No, he probably shouldn't ask.
He walked cautiously over and pointed over at his shoulder back at the bowl of candy.
"Hey. Um, can I have one of..." his voice trailed off as he looked at the candy by the door.

As Patricia ate a candy heart, there was a result that somehow, this narrator doesn't think she intended. Rather then a gradual enveloping from the ground, as with most things, she was instantly inveloped in a thick blackish smog - and then there was a bang.
Rather like the soung of a gun shot, to be quite honest.
And when it disappeared, well...her outfit was quite interesting. She seemed to be dressed up as a female cop...and very sexy female cop. A very sexy female cop who tends to exist only in movies or manga, as no real cop would ever wear anything quite so...revealing.
Oh my.

Natalie jumped at the sound, then turned around, laughing slightly. Oh my. So the costumes did get more... interesting.
Ophiera jumped too, looking like she was shrieking. But, of course, there was no sound. It was like watching a silent movie. She was disturbed enough by the sound to ignore Ina's question. She just hugged her fox tightly, shaking a little.

Dacian nodded to Jacob, with a smile. Good! he wouldn't have to convince the man...
"They're for everyone, so go ahead and have a few! They're really good."
It was a good thing Jacob didn't ask, since that would ruin the surprise...and he wanted to see what Jacob wound up in! It could be just fun, or it could be /very/ interesting, indeed.

Dmitri was a very excited young man. Mainly because there was a party, and eighteen that was enough to get the young man who was currently crashing at Tristan's excited. The decorations amused him too, well at least one of them was happy.
Holden's mood was hard to place, while he didn't seem too upset about being dragged away from the apartment and his nap, he wasn't happy either, his eyes were simply wide, taking in everything around him.
And while Tristan's mood had certainly improved since the arrival of Holden, today he was down. He didn't like Valentines Day, at least not since his break up and he was frowning too. His clothing showed his bad mood as well, dressed enitrely in black and his hair in his face.
"you guys are no fun," Dmitri scowled back at them but found it hard to stay unhappy for long for they had gotten to the auditorium and there was a bowl of candy, and how could anyone be upset when there was candy?
"If you hadn't made me come, I would be in a better mood," Tristan replied, while he normal tried to hide his bad moods today he didn't seem to care.
"Yes but then you'd be back at the apartment and you would get to introduce your cute little boy to everyone, isn't that right Holden?" Dmitri grinned down to the raccoon boy.
Holden wasn't paying attention though, he had seen the candy too, and while he hadn't been around that long, he still knew the wonders of candy.
Dmitri pat the boy on the head and took a handful of candy.
Meanwhile Tristan looked around the room, noting the interesting decorations and... people in costumes? He suddenly had a bad feeling.

Patricia coughed, choking on the smog and jumping at the sound of a gun shot. What was the meaning of this? Maybe the apocalypse really did happen. When the smoke cleared, it might have been better if the world really had ended.
"Picia, what you wearing?" Gavin pointed at the police uniform. A police uniform with tiny shorts that showed nearly all her legs, pale from an extreme lack of exposure to any form of sunlight. The shirt buttoned tightly over her modest chest. She could only stare at herself in horror. World. Ending. Please.
She did the only thing any self-respecting woman who'd lived most of her life believing that anything above the ankles was synonymous with naked would do. She screamed.
Gavin laughed.

Jacob pulled the candy out of his pocket not-so-surreptitiously, smiling awkward "Are you sure?" He may have just thought he heard him say...
Well, at this point he thought he would be safe.
Then he put the candy in his mouth.
