I agree with you entirely. But kiddie MA has also turned into an alternate source of "fun", so as long as parents see their kid is having fun, they won't complain. It's true adults for themselves can do their own research.

FiaNari I agree with you entirely. But kiddie MA has also turned into an alternate source of "fun", so as long as parents see their kid is having fun, they won't complain. It's true adults for themselves can do their own research. Thats what I mean. I personally believe that Kiddie MA should be a source of fun and exersize. Few children are going to continue in something that is not fun. So say there are two places. School and McSchool. They offer the same style of Kiddie class. Only McSchool is 15/mo cheaper. The parants are going to choose that one. four years down the road, the Kid is now 13, and wishes to take it seriously. He has learned through word of mouth, internet or whatever that the more expensive place is better, and asks his parants to make the switch. The parants will say "You have been there for four years. Also its cheaper." That will be the end of that more then likely. Now there are some parants that will make the switch. And a good kid wont press the issue either :p Just offer to pay the extra cash with allowence smile

If they get allowance. it's true parents are kind of foreign to the MC Dojo concept.

DarklingGlory Those are good points, but you're forgetting that a true mcdojo would be 15/month more expensive... No idea personally smile Just some random stuff I made up on the spot. But if said McDojo where seriously concerned about the real deal across the road, it would be cheaper. Esperically for classes that are going to be used by parants for day care purposes.

it willbe more expensive if their less confident about their bullshidoist expertise, if they feel like they can draw a mass audience it will be cheaper.

Jackie_M I see a lot of "[random style] is better than [random style]" crap, even around here. Total s**t. To say generalize an entire style and all it's practioners as sucking is pretty asinine. I agree with you upto a point, however there is a point where you have to accept that some styles offer a better, more adaptable, method then others, however slight or large. FiaNari having authentic MA places actually drive the bullshidoists out. If they get no revenue they will quit. Meh, I'm getting offers all the time to teach/go into partnership. Flawed logic really, just because I may be a good fighter does not mean I'm a good teacher.

true, it's up to each individual to know whether or not they are up for teaching.

I for one, am probably not the type of person who could be a teacher. For kids classes at least. Teaching adults seems like it would be easier, if only because they'd be more likely to respond without having to be threatened. But I wouldn't like to teach kids. Having doubled up with the younger class at my dojo, to catch up on classes that have been missed due to weather, I've realized the kids are a bunch of fools who don't take it seriously, don't pay attention, and just frig around and talk to each other when they should be paying attention. I've probably made it sound worse than it really is, but compared to the adult class, thats how it is. I've felt like bashing skulls on more than 532 occasions. Sometimes I do, but the kids think I'm just messing around with them, and act up even more. In any case, kids usually don't bother me, and in fact I'm pretty good with them, as my mom was a babysitter for several years. Having to teach ones that don't want to learn though, doesn't appeal to me. Blah, that was a lot of words and it says nothing. Basically, I'm not likely to ever teach martial arts. Especially not to kids. That being said, I respect anyone who can.

Yeah if anything I'd only teach adults for the reasons you mentioned.

Dude, I'd teach everybody, but only threw sparring, Saku style. lol. Meaning, you'd have to learn by getting your a** kicked.
