[Forgive my lack of response, please. Our power was out until late last night. The boonies are not the most reliable of places, you see. <3 Also, feel free to give me feedback on the lesson/lecture via PM, as I'm inventing Brooklyn's magic as we go...]

Brooklyn chuckled, and rather than question them more deeply, he instead accepted their vauge statements, completely unconcerned with 'soul' magic and the like. It must be hard for the students, having to remember the methods of very different teachers. However, that was their job, at this age. "Well, then. You all seem to be at exactly the same level of knowledge. At least, when it comes to my methods. So, let us continue."

Turning toward the white board, he erased his name, before scrawling notes, as he spoke. "Mathematics is found in all of life, and much of magic uses math as an underlying principle. When the underlying principles are understood, a spell can be modified to fit a particular element or need. When a spell is based on mathematics, or even has a mathematical component, then knowing the math gives you that ability to change your spell." A pause, and he glanced back at his students, "If you need to, take notes, as this will be on the exam."

"As you may have learned in other classes, there are several parts to each spell. The Purpose, Process, and Product. To create a spell, you need to use all three, which I shall go into extensively. In laymans terms Purpose is not only the reason behind the spell, but also the ingrediants involved. Process is the steps which it takes to create a spell, including any words, movements, or combining processes. And lastly, the product is what you intend to do with the spell, and the will behind it to complete whatever you happen to be trying to do."

Alaqua nodded at Gabby's question, though the girl answered it herself in her long speech. Then the teacher started talking again and Ala focused her attention to the man. Well, at least they were all on the same level. Which was good, right?

The koala girl was already writing down what Brooklyn was saying when he commented about taking notes. Math in magic? Ala supposed it made sense. Maybe.

The girl groaned inwardly as she got another set of names for the three parts of magic. From what the other kids had said, it seemed each teacher had their own names for them. Fun... wouldn't that be so much fun to keep up with?!

Chath looked to his other classmates and took out his note book and flipped it open. His last notes written in there were from Thomas's class. Flipping a couple pages over he wrote the date and the teachesr name before taking some notes.

Spells were like math? oh dear. Math was one of his weak points...this should prove....hard. And what the teacher was saying was complex, it made his head spin. He tried jotting down what sounded the most important.

Purpose, process, and product. . .

these did what again?

Purpose = ingredients and reason. . .

Process = the steps involved. . chanting ectera

product = ??

Chath could of swore...what did product do? Right right... the result. Okay.

H-E-double hockey sticks.

"How late're we?" Etian demanded, feeling like his arm was about to get ripped right out of it's socket if Tovar ran any faster. He struggled to keep up, feet pounding away at the hall. He had a number written on his arm in pen, something Tovar had told him to write down. Room number.

"Late," Tovar growled, the only answer the young man was willing to give as his eyes scoured over the tops of the doors they passed, boring down the numbers in search of the one they were looking for.

They skid to a halt. At least, Tovar did. Etain whiplashed around, Tovar managing to catch and hold him before he went cauterwalting further down the hall. Panting, the two looked up at the door.

"Yahtze," the man breathed, hastily turning around and straightening the front of Etain's shirt. He spit in both of his palms, forcing the unicorn's natty curls back out of his face. "You apologize, you hear? Don't give your teacher any excuses either."

"But it was Michae--" Etain protested, cut off just as quick as he'd begun to blurt his objections out in the first place.

"Doesn't matter, nobody'll care but you and you'll just end up disappointed when you're still in trouble. Suck it up and say you're sorry. There." Dropping his hands, Tovar straightened. "I'll pick you up later." And with that, he opened the door to the lecture hall and shoved Etain through.

The blond staggered inside, plastering himself to the door the second it had closed. He'd come right in the middle of something - not that he'd been expectingly anything differently. "Uh," he said, clearing his throat awkwardly. "S-sorry for being late, uh," His eyes snapped to the man who lecture he'd just interrupted, letting his gaze flit away quickly before his skin could decide if it wanted to crawl or not. "Sir. My dad's -- ...Sorry."

Without meeting the teacher's eye, Etain quickly scuttled to the nearest available seat and plopped down in it, hunching sheepishly over himself.

Mathematics? Gabby gulped and a small sound of panic escaped from the lovebird’s mouth. Math? Math oh god. What did Math have to do with Magic apart from the fact that they both started with ‘Ma’. Raven hadn’t said anything about that at all! Gabby’s eyes widened and she did a faint attempt to scribble all down that Brooklyn had said. Math!

Purprose, Process, Product, the three important ‘P’s. At least in that she recognised some of what Raven had said.

Gabby was still writing down the last of what the teacher had said when a blonde creature momentarily distracted her. Hey, she had never seen him before, what was he anyway? Gabby grinned cheerfully and chirped a quick hello as her eyes darted over her classmates. Sahra was still ignoring her. Was her cheetah sister doing okay?

[Due to my long surprise hiatus, I think it unfair to ask you all to finish the lecture, so instead, there will be one homework assignment, and a test for the students. For the homework, the children may ICly help each other, with a post in their journal saying so, and must only use the knowledge they gained ICly. Etain missed the lecture, so he may only guess on the homework, unless he gets help from a peer. After this, will be the test, which the homework will help prepare the student for. Your child MAY cheat, but they also may be caught, resulting in a zero on the test, and a lower grade in the class. <3 I'll post the homework shortly.

When it's completed, please post in this thread, having your child show up for the test, with their homework included in the post.]
