I believe in Atlantis. Mostly because I want it to be real, since I don't really know much about it. xD

I think that, since the ledgend of Atlantis is fairly widespread, that it is probably based on a few instances in history where similar things happened. Meaning, there is more than one "Atlantis", just the story of the sunken cities are all told as one and the same, because it was easier.

Interestingly, I've heard some theories that Ireland is the remains of what once was Atlantis. They both have similar rock formations, apparently.
Even if this isn't the case, it's still possible that Atlantis exists/existed. I just kinda have my doubts that it's still inhabited by anything except fish and other sealife, really.

I remain skeptical. I believe in it- but we are talking a very advanced civilization. One perhaps more civillized than our own. Even more so than Egypt's who in there hay day were the cream of the crop. There's plausiable evidence that it existed.
The problem is antlatis has been found and re-found so many times, it just prooves that people don't really have an idea of what they are looking FOR.

I think the tales of Atlantis were a bit exaggerated, honestly. There's a good possibility that a city could've been sunk by a tsunami or whatnot, who knows how advanced it was? Even then, there's a VERY slim possibility that there'd be any remaining residents. rolleyes

What I find interesting is that, in almost every civilization, there is a story of some ideal society, land or place that eventually gets destroyed by a flood. I believe that Atlantis was perhaps one of these places if not the place. Maybe it was the first neolithic civilization that sprung up and was very advanced for its time.

I think we need to have a spot here somewhere that actually shows gathered facts and of what we know so far to be true about atlantis, or theories.

1. It's spelled tsunami. Tsu Na Mi, three Kana. It'd be hard to mix it up how you did in the original language...
2. The stones you are speaking of are composed of a sediment that naturally fractures at right angles. There was a Discovery Channel special on this - they are not pavement and carbon date as later than Atlantis' supposed destruction, also. And considering they're composed of compressed broken down mollusk shells, this implies that the creatures that donated its material were still alive when Atlantis sank.
The sea is a very rapidly-changing and hostile place. 4 millennia is plenty of time for even a super advanced civilization to completely dissolve if subjected to its ravages.

IrishHavanaWhitewolf Now there are many scientists who claim to have found the lost contentent of Atlantis, and even have explained how Atlantis could have ended up in the sea because of a giant Tsumane caused my small earthquacks on the ocean floor. Do you think that Atlantis coud have been real? I think it could very much be real. An excavation I want to say off the coast of Greece (I'm not to sure where exactly) scientists think they may have found it. They found stones on the ocean floor that are way to perfectly put together to be made by nature. They think though they are not fully sure if it is Atlantis. I kinda think it is. Its just like the Mythical Light House of Alexandria Egypt. Scientists have found proof of that as well. i thought that it was the library of alexandria

I believe Atlantis could've existed. Its in our modern scientific society to discredit that which is not there to be seen. Our World is much more mystical & magical than society gives it credit for. All I ask is,"Would we really know Atlantis if we found it?"
Throughout the ages, stories have a tendency to expand & drift further and further from the truth. To find Atlantis, you have to sort through the stories to find the facts
