Edict could understand the anger, the resentment, she knew what it was like to be forced to do something she hadn't agreed to in the first place. Always the guinea pig, always the experiment, always the one to take the first risk.

"A ritual is like a ceremony, um," She stammered, realizing that ceremony might not be understood either, "Well it's like a special dance we have to do. It won't take too long but, I suppose I could try to sneak you a quick peek at the others. We'll have to wait for my Master to be distracted first..."

Khalindra felt secure as she was in Donny's free arm which gave her a bit more confidence to say her next thing, "Why do you want to help us if you were trying to do something else to begin with?" Always count on Khalindra to ask the difficult questions. Poor Edict probably didn't know how to or didn't want to answer that question! But of course the star child seemed to expect her to do so and do it now.

Dancing, though, caught the female's attention and the little girl looked up at Adonis. Gypsy blood ran through the blonde's veins and there was absolutely nothing more she liked (besides night, that was) than dancing. Her feet were already itching but she kept them firmly against the ground. "Adonis..." she murmured softly, "What do you think?" Her little hand grasped tightly at the other.

Normally Chailyn would've been a little surprised in a place like this to feel anyone touching her. Except she could feel Donny's presence, though it seemed a bit different. Maybe everyone was as confused as she was. Wrapping her own arm around Donny, she nuzzled against him. Whether she was trying to comfort herself or felt she was trying to comfort him was anyone's guess.

It took her a moment to notice Khalindra, she'd never met her before and wasn't sure what to think. If she was a friend of Donny's, she must be a good one. "Who are you?" she tried to ask the girl, hoping she could have another friend in this strange place. But the mention of dancing spoke to her, mostly because she'd been taking so many lessons. Maybe they had something in common?

A sneak peek? This devious plan shed a new light on their 'jailer'. He felt a glimmer of hope shard through his heart, and nodded at her suggestion. "Then we'll wait." He responded quickly, "And see. Them, I mean. I want to see them." Was this getting them home any quicker? No, but it was important. Unexpectedly, Khalindra posed yet another important but just as heavy question. Where did the little one come up with such big thoughts, he wondered? He was older and yet, the question of why was simply not on his mind as much as the question of when, how long, how fast, and where were his other friends. Still, the quick way that this woman seemed to give way to him and do as much as she could to appease the children in her care made him feel that much more powerful. They were not as helpless as they seemed. It made him feel much better about their situation.

He looked down at Khalindra when her eyes lifted to his, searching for advice. He hesitated, turning to Chai when she spoke to Khalindra, and settling his gaze on her for a moment. They didn't seem as frightened as they were a moment ago, and he blamed that completely and totally on his own inspiring presence. He turned back to Khalindra and smiled, waiting for her to introduce herself to Chai before answering her question.

"I think we'll be fine. As long as we're together we're safe."

Edict listened to Khalindra's words and paused as she thought about the reasons herself. She took a deep breath, "I never intended for anyone to get hurt, but it doesn't seem like my Master shares the sentiments. We were only supposed to borrow your essence for a while and then give it back. But..." she chewed her lip, "things don't always go according to plan."

At Adonis' response, Edict nodded and stood still as if she was listening for something. Putting a finger to her lips, she raised a hand and drew a circle in the air. Her fingers left a trail of hazy smoke that lingered until it came to a close. Within the ring, the other Tales shimmered into view.

((I'm gonna have to discuss something with Syrie first but feel free to assume the last few posts in Khia's Tales thread are what your character sees

((Gotcha. If he says no I'll just delete this xD))

Donny surged forward as the circle formed and he started recognizing Tales. The first one he noticed was Tybalt, with his wings and colors catching Donny's eye immediately. His weapon was drawn, and his friend looked upset, even angry. So far this did not look good. What he noticed next, however, made his heart jump. He could see Elena, now that the image had sharpened. Though awake now, he could still barely make out the fact that she was bleeding from the head. She was hurt?! That wouldn't do. Donny rose his fist up, making to bang against the image. Though somewhere deep down he knew they couldn't hear him, he still couldn't help but scream her name.

"ELENA!"

Gallu sniffed and paced just outside the barrier-magic that kept him apart from his quarry. There was something going on. It could feel it; it was waiting for it - it might be the best chance to get at it's prey. Someone had used magic, someone that wasn't supposed to - and it weakened the barriers a bit; at the same time, the positive magic was being used (presumably by Edict to show the Tales in her "care" what was going on with their counterparts) and that too weakened the boundaries for the six-eyed nightmare beast lurking in the 'between.

Crows made from shadows whirled round the Tales kept in the Wizard's prison, their cries shrill and grating all at once. The dark-skinned Tale that had sent them to harry his peers could not have known that it was his use of magic that would weaken the barriers enough to allow It in. Gallu roared and dug it's claws into the shimmering barrier magic, ripping at it just as the shadow-born birds ripped at the dimensional magic; tearing through the barrier much in the same way as the birds were now tearing at the Tale's hair and clothes.

It was then that the wizard noticed the dark-skinned child had stepped away, had done something that was jeapordizing his experiment. "Rotten little creature!" The old man snarled and muttered archaic-sounding words in a low, hissing tone; a twist of gnarled, arthritic fingers and Ayden would find himself bound by invisible bonds and slammed into the cold granite of the Tower. "Stay there until I need you!" The mage then turned his attention to his spell - Edict would have to handle the beast, there was no time for him to waste now!

The spell was almost done, almost ready: Runes that had been drawn in blood glowed eeriely on the floor and walls; each symbol making slow revolutions and changing as the magic wove together and pulsed with the beating of the old man's wizened heart - a heart that it was indeed bound to. Edict would learn soon enough that she was not to return with the Wizard; he had enough essence and power left in himself to work the magic gate for one, but not both. It had been the Wizard's blood, mixed with the essences of the Tales that was used to unlock and begin the ancient magic, and it would be the same that would end it.

He returned to his spell, chanting the words for the next part even as the barriers were torn open by the Gallu. They could all become shields! It didn't matter - he was going home!

A single tear rolled down Elana's cheek from her wide eyes; she was still held in the Wizard's thrall, but it was hurting her to see the others being hurt - to see her sibling slammed back into granite, held as tightly as she herself was. A crack formed in the spell woven around her and for a brief moment she was in controll of herself once again; she knew what she must do.

Elana gathered her energy and cast one last, desperate spell of her own: one that would - she hoped - reach those Tales that had not yet been entangled or drawn into this dark place...to see if one of them might be able to help. If nothing else, one of them might be able to get through to the raging beast that had battered it's way in before it was too late.

OOC NOTE: At this point, if anyone that was not originally signed up in the MP would like to have their Tale drawn into it for SPECIFIC PLOT REASONS (Ie, you would like to have your Tale's memory wiped, have them lose a limb, etc) PLEASE CONTACT THE MULE TO DISCUSS. :3

Also...at this point, the threads are about to become one - please post any and all replies to the appropriately marked thread~
