Marshall grabbed tight to Liamh's available hand, needing to feel some sort of contact. Just to remind himself he was still alive. That he wasn't dead.

"Thank...Yah..." Marshall said, tears streaming down his face, "Thank yah..."

His leaves trembled as he sat, fixated just on the closed circuit of human - human? - contact. There was something of a yawning hull breach in his guts, it felt like. The kind where they shake the camera and flash the red lights, where the actors all fling themselves from one end of the screen to the other and the captain gives the order to abandon ship with a grave look in his eye. Well, if life were classic Star Trek, at least.

The sharp ache ate at him from inside. God, why this guy? Marshall could never deserve this... Liamh knew himself, his vices, his failings, his misdeeds, and he could rationalize his own pain. But Marshall? What was HIS crime? Smiling too much? Liamh gritted his teeth.

All the old feelings came rolling back. A lost and helpless child, unable to alter the events that hurt those close to him, a child with no armor, no power except.... Liamh furrowed his brow. He might not have had the chance to remember Marshall as he had been, fully human, but he remembered his smile. A human smile.

How many Stormtroopers did it take to screw in a... How is duct tape like the...

Liamh shook his head. He had nothing. Nothing that could make something like this better. He gave a sigh, glancing over at the guy curled up next to him. "Marshall... I've.... got a confession. I, uh... I already liked Fruits Basket." He glanced away sheepishly. "I've even got a book. I brought it from home." He felt rather dumb, admitting fandom to a girly 'cartoon', but kept going. "I just, uh, didn't wanna say it. But... thanks. It's really great."

Marshall looked up at his freind, the same freind who had just helped him. The same freind who had watched all those terrible movies with him. And played with him in Soul Callibur. Pieces of his skin were missing, he had vine-like things were muscles should be, and leaves were visibly growing from him. And yet...he was human. Marshall knew this. Despite the fact that he had a beak, and feathers, a newly formed paunch...He was human, too. So what if he was being changed from the inside, huh? He never put much thought into his looks any way!

And to think it was admitting that Liamh liked a "girly" anime that made Marshall realize this.

"Hee hee...Yahr such a dahk, Liahm." Marshall laughed, smiling up at Liamh with damp eyes.

So what if my mouth is gone?...I'm still Marshall. Do whatever the ******** you want to me. 'Cause I'll still be Marshall.

Liamh rolled his eyes and gave Marshall a light punch in the arm. "Riiight. Look at the pot calling the kettle black. Err.." he paused. "... green?" He shook his head in self exasperation, hefting himself to his feet a bit unsteadily and offered his freshly mutated pal a hand up.

Wasn't any good sulking. He knew that much already. His need for distraction had certainly not decreased by the traumatic episode... good lord, he just wanted to forget it for a while. He glanced back at Marshall and moved over to the DVD player, resting a hand on the tray. "Hey..." he said quietly. He gave a slight sniff, trying to sort through the turbulence inside. "so... How many Stormtroopers does it take to screw in a lightbulb?"

He pushed the tray in setting the disk to go. He gave the other guy a weak sort of grin, almost apologetic for the bad joke.

"A hundred. One to screw it in, and ninety-nine to get shot and fall over in the time he takes to do it."

"Thats a terribah jahke, Liamh." Marshall laughed. Even though he felt like leaving, he knew that it wouldn't change any thing. Besides, what else would he do besides go to his room and mope for a good couple of hours? So, as awkwardly as expected from some one who had just gained 30 lbs. in the course of five minutes, Marshall made his way to the movie.

"Ahl right, hets stahrt."

He was quiet for most of the movies, and didn't really eat much of the usual junk-food spread. He spaced out, staring at the TV. It was hard to tell if he was just entranced with the films or if he just had too much on his mind. Probably a bit of both.
