Denes laughed. "I bet she does. But you seem like you're quite well behaved. I hope that Miri turns out something like you." A well behaved, friendly girl would be nice, though Denes did hope she went easy on the destruction and mayhem. A dash spiced things up, too much wrecked homes. And made parents, as Dageus put it, 'reeeeeeeeeeally mad.'

It was impossible not to notice the flying sand caused by the human (or rather, wolverine) cannonball. Miriyan immediately looked up and aroud for the source of the miniature tornado, ears twitching and turning in the process. All she could see was a bit pile of sand- even bigger than it had been a few moments ago. Bouncing in place, the joey leaped forward excitedly, making it to the top of the pile in two jumps, and continued to jump up and down once she had reached the summit.

"Pffffft! Pah! PAAAAAAAH!"

Still spitting out massive mouthfuls of sand, Dageus pulled a wry face at his predicament. That was stupid, to say the least. Now he felt like an idiot. He attempted to scrape the sand off his tongue with his claws, only to find that his claws were also completely sand-encrusted. Ugh. Not helpful.

He vaguely felt the pile of sand shifting, and he assumed-- incorrectly-- that Miri was still digging at the side. Gah. Maybe he'd better get out of here before he got completely buried. Having decided on that, he commenced to wiggling himself out of the sandpile, a task made harder by the fact that the sand on his back was really heavy. Sand? Heavy?! Who knew?!

After what seemed like eternity-- in reality, nothing more than about twenty seconds-- he managed to squirm, dig, and otherwise roll his way out of the pile, leaving the sand to do whatever he pleased in his absence. "Bloody dirt!" he swore. How irritating.

Joy turned to shock as the pile of sand Miriyan was jumping on started moving. MOVING. As a relative newcomer to the world, Miri was still learning, but she knew that the ground moving underneath her was Very Very Bad. Flailing, she toppled over, and started to slide down the pile headfirst, into the sand.

A quick reaction from Denes allowed the tot to tumble into his arms instead. "Careful, love," he murmured comfortingly, holding her close. "It's okay. You're fine. Everything's okay, see?"

Shaking a little, Miri peeked her head out and looked back into the sandbox. It looked calmer. Maybe it would be safe to go out again.

Still spluttering and muttering various nonsensical obscenities about sand, Dageus sat upright and used the relatively clean portions of his arms to clean the sand from his face. Gnarly stuff, it was. It got everywhere!

Remembering suddenly that his destructive activities hadn't been done alone, he glanced about for Miri for a moment before spying her safe in Denes' arms. Wait a minute... what was she doing over there? Oh well. At least he hadn't accidentally sat on her or something. Reaching a hand into the wreckage of the pile, he rescued the toy car and shook it, sand pouring out of every opening. "We wrecked it!" he said cheerfully, meaning the pile, of course, and not the miraculously-intact car.

The wolverine boy glanced from his wrecking partner to the flattened pile and then back to Miri, grinning from ear to ear. "Let's do it again!"

Denes, who had been chuckling over the wolverine boy's antics, quickly stopped. Again? The boy had just been drowning in sand, and Miriyan had nearly been buried alive, and he wanted to do it again. "I'm not sure that's a good-"

Oblivious to her father's disapproval, Miriyan's ears perked up at the word "again," and she tumbled, only slightly in control, and landed back into the sandbox. Considering that she hadn't fallen and actually gotten hurt, the whole thing had been pretty fun. Maybe this time it would be even funner!

With one hand to hid head, Denes sighed. "Just be careful, okay?"

Careful? Dageus ran that word through his limited mental dictionary and came up with a definition of 'don't break anything.' Okay! He could do that. Grinning from ear to ear, he set the car aside and very carefully held out a hand to help Miri. She didn't look entirely stable, after all.

Meanwhile, his mind was racing with the endless possibilities of how big this sandpile could get. They could use all of the sand in the sandbox... all of it! It'd be a huge pile! Huge! And then they'd wreck it, and it would be glorious. Oh yes. It was brilliant.

Delighted, Miriyan took the offered hand and used it to pull herself up. As soon as she was steady she grabbed at the discarded car, plowing it through the sand again. She didn't have any dreams of sandy grandeur, she just wanted to play again. And whatever happened, happened, as long as she didn't get hurt in the process.

Still sitting on the bench, Dorian looked at his watch, did a double take, and called out. "Yo, Den!"

Denes didn't take his eyes off the sandbox. "I'm busy, Dorian."

"But Den-"

"Fine!" Shaking his head, Denes looked at Dageus critically. "Mind watching her for a sec? I don't want anything to happen- to either of you."

Giving another growly chuckle, Dageus watched Miri play with the car for just a moment before he commenced the assembly of a new sandpile. He vaguely heard the other strange male calling, but the conversation was of little consequence, especially now that the sandpile was growing. When he realized Denes was addressing him directly, the wolverine looked up. His expression betrayed his confusion for a moment, and then his brain processed the request. Him? Watch Miri? "Okay," he said slowly. Why would anything happen to her? Or him?

As if sensing the situation, Aiodhan unfolded his legs from beneath his body and stood, padding carefully over to the sandbox. "If you need to go somewhere, I can watch them," the dragon-man spoke up, tugging his coat more tightly about himself. While Dageus did not need close supervision, the baby 'roo likely did, and Dageus wasn't exactly babysitter material in this case.

Dageus, a bit perplexed by this whole thing, waved a hand in Aiodhan's direction. "'S my dad," he said to Denes before returning to his sandpile.

So there was a guardian around. Denes hadn't seen him before, but then again, he hadn't exactly been looking either. It was reassuring, and he nodded gratefully to the dragon-man before heading off to see what Dorian wanted. "Thank you. I should only be a couple minutes."

Still focused on pushing the car deeper and deeper into the sand, Miriyan didn't even notice her father's departure. The car was new and interesting and getting filled with sand, but every time she lifted it a little, the sand poured out through the windows and doors and wheels. Wonderful!

"No problem," Aiodhan said easily, settling himself down beside the sandbox. He had an infant and two toddlers at home, not counting his infant grandchild. Really... how bad could a baby kangaroo be??

Due to the fact that he now had his father closely scrutinizing his every move-- the bane of every wild child's existence-- Dageus realized that Miri had lost interest in the sandpile and had moved on to something new. That was a new game to him, and he halted his constructive efforts to watch her dump sand out of the car. Huh. He could do that with his hand. That being so, he scooped up a handful of sand and let it run between his fingers, watching as it trickled down through the fur. The sand ended up landing on his legs, which were sticking out straight in front of him, and somewhere deep in his brain, two neurons connected in a fatal union that signalled trouble brewing. Struck with this sudden idea, he started heaping sand on top of his feet, grinning wickedly as his ankles and most of his feet, save for his toes, disappeared.

Playing with the car was interesting, especially when Miriyan turned it in different directions. But even that lost interest when she saw what the big boy was doing. Why was he piling sand on top of himself? It looked funny... but also fun! Bouncing over, Miri grabbed a handful of sand , and tossed it at the furry, mostly vanished legs. It didn't have much effect, considering the fact that her hands were so small and most of the sand leaked through her thin fingers, but the act delighted the girl nonetheless, and she quickly grabbed another handful of sand.

Uttering a mischevious chuckle at this new game, Dageus happily heaped sand on his feet. He paused for a moment when Miri hopped over and tossed some sand on his legs. It wasn't much, but considering her size, he had to consider it a great accomplishment. "Wonder if we can bury all of me," he pondered for a moment, looking thoughtfully down at himself. It would take a lot of sand to do it, but it seemed fun enough, so long as the sand stayed a respectful distance from his mouth, eyes, and ears.

"Let's do it!" he declared before scooping up another double handful and dumping the sand in his lap. Oh, this was going to be so much fun, never mind how much of a sandy mess he would be when it was all said and done.

Aiodhan just sighed and shook his head. At least the boy wasn't attempting to take down a fifty-foot tree with his bare hands-- no, paws-- again.

The game of pick-up-the-car had been fun, but this new game, the game of tossing-sand-onto-people, was even better. Miriyan picked up another handful and allowed the grains to sift through her fingers, enjoying the way it felt. Sure, she had been practically rolling in the sand moments earlier, but she'd never tried to pick it up before. It was almost like trying to pick up water, and just as hard.

But she'd done it before, and she could do it again, couldn't she? Bending over, Miriyan scooped up another handful of sand. This time, she threw it straight up, scattering granules everywhere.

After several more handfuls of sand were dumped in his lap, Dageus took a moment to run a handful through his fingers, chuckling wickedly at the way it tickled the sensitive skin between his furred fingers. This stuff was too much fun. He had to wonder what would happen if he added water to the mix! That would have been so much fun. He had a feeling Dad wouldn't go for that idea, though, so perhaps it would be best not to bring it up. At all.

He sneezed suddenly as a small rain of sand pelted down upon his face. Blinking furiously, he glanced about to see where it came from and saw Miri. It didn't take him much more than an instant to figure out what had happened, and he made a face. Sand? In the air? He picked up his own small handful and tossed it up, albeit not as high as Miri had thrown hers. It did make a cool little rain of sand. He grinned. Fun!
