I generally take everything into account. If the writer has a good plot, good characters and generally knows how to write, then I'll keep reading the story. However, if the person repeats concepts, can't spell if their life depended on it, and has a plot that bores me to tears… Then sayonara!

I've never read a good fanfic (That's not to say that I think there aren't any). I have read 'My Eternal' and watched the slideshow. It was fun.
I expect terrible spelling and grammar from them
