‘Wow, Lex Luthor just told the truth, he opened up to me!’ Chloe’s mind raced, ‘It must have been very hard, I’m very sorry, how has it effected your business?’ Yes, that was the perfect response. But instead, Chloe’s brain threw out something else, “Do you want to talk about it?” was offered with a sincere look of concern but was soon replaced with her own shock. She blushed and turned her face away quickly adding, “Oh, I’m so sorry, I shouldn’t have asked, I mean you don’t want to talk and don’t want that all over the papers, we don’t know each other anymore, I’m sorry, you have people to talk to about that, I shouldn’t have asked…” ‘AHHHH! What the hell Sullivan! Get yourself together! Babbling again!!?? What’s with you?!?!?!? Damn! I have to get out of here,’
“Look Mr. Luthor, I really should get going, this probably isn’t the best time,” She said while rising out of her chair, “I think I’m just going to come back another time, better yet I will have someone else come and take this story, it’s a hot one that lots of good interns would want so…” ‘Dammit, running on again, just GET OUT!’

Lex was flattered by her stuttering, it was quite endearing and more than a little adorable (neither of which he should have been thinking). But more than that he appreciated the concern in her voice, it was more than he deserved, and he knew it. His momentary happiness died when she tried to make a hasty exit and she started calling him 'Mr. Luthor' again. Standing himself and trying to make his veritable plea for company sound a bit more like a polite offer he said,
"We can come back to this later Chloe. And i wouldn't mind the company, care to go for a walk?" Please say yes, please say yes.. his subconcious chanted dramatically, before he incredulously asked himself if he was that starved for attention, human contact, or just a converstaion with somone other than himself. Apperantly he was. Lex found himself poised, waiting for her answer with intense anticipation and praying it didn't show.

Chloe stopped dead in her tracks. She knew she shouldn’t, she knew that the right thing to do was to keep going. Yes, that’s it; give a polite “no thank you Mr. Luthor” and keep going. Despite her knowing better, Chloe couldn’t help herself. Perhaps it was the sincerity in his voice she had forgotten she loved, perhaps it was her need for closer, perhaps she wanted something from him—after all she really couldn’t completely shut down her reporter—and maybe, just maybe, it was something else…
She heaved an almost exasperated breath and turned around, a resigned almost sad face greeted Lex; but there was something more, something that light up her eyes, it was hope, and yes, maybe reminiscent of the love they once had. “Alright Lex, where to?”

He was about to let his smal hope get smashed when he heard the small sigh, but as she turned he caught a glimpse at her eyes. Sad, but touched with her ever-present fire and curiosity, along with something else he'd never noticed before. Something he really liked to see. When she agreed Lex couldn't help the triumphant little smirk as he stood. He stopped realizing he'd pretty much already walked his entire property. Not in the mood for a repeat he said, with a little hopeful air again,
"Or.. we could go for a drive? Pick up some coffee at the Talon?"
(( cool remember our little inside joke..? *handle breaks* "Um..Lex..."))
