(( there was no aura there, only symbolism )) The red lioness excelled at finding the wrong thing to say, and she could not have picked a worse time. Suddenly the lion was on his paws, his full height towering over the desert sands. Dark talons extended, paws flexed, maw parted in a vicious snarl, fury burning in his gaze.
"You know nothing! Do not propose to know my brother or the realm to which his trail leads. Foolish mortal, what do you think you know of a creature who has existed for millennia, who died and been reborn for every generation of this land."
He was angry, furious at the lioness' words, fire blazing in his voice and his expression, each word spoking with a growl and a snap of his fangs.
"I can feel him, we are connected, as we have been since life began. You could not possibly understand."
He could understood how she felt, how she must have desperately wanted to see her daughter returned home safely. But she did not understand, could not have possibly comprehended what lay ahead. There were four other children who needed her, who could not lose their mother. She would perish if she followed him, why couldn't she get that through her thick skull?

((naw, I didn't mean he was using his aura skills, just that she could feel his anger.))
Kiuma lept to her own paws with a snarl, whirling and stalking up to put her face right into his. Fangs bared and eyes flashing, she shouted right back into his face. She'd been itching for a fight, and now it seemed she had one. "Mortal! How dare you! Have you forgotten you're no longer a god? You're just as mortal as me, fluffbrain!" She yelled at him. "Though I guess you're not even that. Not mortal, but not a god either."
The red lioness's whole body trembled with her anger, her fur puffing out as her hackles rose. "You're right, I don't know anything about what's between you two, but you havn't exactly been forthcoming about it all! You just run away and brood and yell at those who are suppose to be close to you! You're a selfish, over-blown pig! If you could see past the end of your nose you would know that you need my help. If I had been there when Mrost took my daughter, he would be dead and Kali would be safe. When you had fallen, I would have picked up the slack and finished him off. What will you do when you fall again, and I'm not there? You'll die! You'll die and leave me alone to raise your cubs!"
Her tirade broke off as she sucked in a deep breath of air, everything in her blazing with anger at him, anger at Mrost, anger at fate. How could things have come to this? Just a few months ago, she'd have sworn life couldn't get any more perfect. Now it was all dust... Dust and ashes.

A vicious roar echoed from the lion's maw, jaws parted in a warning against the lioness. His fur ruffled as dark talons sank into the earth, tail lashing in his anger, wings quivering as a serpent warns with the shaking of it's tail. Every part of his posture was aggressive, a final warning. If the lioness wished to push him further until he struck her, then so be it, he would hold back no longer.
"Do I look mortal to you?!"
He raised one massive paw, talons bared, to emphasize his point. Tanaka was massive, a giant among lions, towering above mortal creatures.
"I may have lost my wings, but I assure you I am far from mortal, and if I should fall I will be reborn as I always have been."
His paw clenched, talons hungering for blood and it seemed for a moment that he might strike the lioness, but for the moment his self-control held and he refrained, instead answering her with a snarl and fangs that threatened to snap at that red pelt.
"And just how do you propose to have stopped Mrost? Would you sprout wings and fly after him?! Idiot! Do not speak of what you do not know! It was not I who fell, it was my brother! And now that his magic has been spent I will destroy him the next time we meet. And I would not let you lay a paw on him even if you were there."
The last statement was harsher, unyielding, a warning not to be questioned.
"Stubborn creature! Do you really think that you have the strength to fight a god? A creature who's power you do not understand? Are you really so foolishly stubborn that you are willing to wrench both parents from our sons?!"

The lioness trembled with her anger, her ears pinned back as she snarled and tore the ground with her claws. For anyone else, the sight would have been frightening, so fierce did she look. She'd never been so mad at someone in her entire life... though that episode with her brother was a close second. Why were the men in her life such idiots? Even her father had taken on a rogue, alone, and died of it.
"You are a fool! You don't understand, and you can't see beyond your nose! If you just looked, you'd see... But you don't care. You don't care about anything but your stupid pride and your anger! Mrost could kill you, alone, and it matters not a wit what might happen to us without you there... You say I couldn't stand against him, yet you'd leave us without protection!"
Her jaws snapped uselessly on the air, her tail lashing wildly. Forget it... it wasn't worth fighting with him, and it solved nothing. He might not believe in her strngth, but she knew he would need her help.
"I'm not thinking of myself, but of our cubs. I want them to have two parents, not just one! You want to search on your own? Fine!" Snarling helplessly, she whirled and slashed her claws deeply into the sand, then sprang forward in a ripple of red fur and muscle. He could search on his own then, but she wasn't going to let it end like this. She'd follow just close enough to not get lost, and when he needed her... then she'd be there, and she'd prove herself to him. Slipping over a dune, she bounded down the other side and kept going.
Space... she needed some space from him to cool down.

The great lion snorted, talons slashing at the earth in anger, a thundering roar echoing after the retreating form. Stubborn, stupid female. All she could do was yell and never listen, never admit she was wrong. Why couldn't she understand that she could -not- follow him, he could not allow her. She would be of no help against the blue demon, she would only be a hindrance, one that he could not afford. He was too closely matched to his brother to allow anything to distract him.
But now she had fled, and he was tired, relieved to be alone again and away from the argument. Though he doubted the red lioness would give up so easily, but if she dared follow, he'd deal with that as it came. He'd knock her out and leave her behind before he let her follow him into Mrost's domain, into storm valley.
Now, it was time to rest, to sleep through the night while his wounds healed. Soon he would strike north through the heart of the firekin, then on to the fortress where his brother waited.
