A baby?! Jamie's mind had shrieked at the very idea. His eyes had grown wide, the surprise more than evident. Laced within the emotion was nothing more than the sheer uncertainty of the situation. It was ridiculous! A glowing light and babies. Maybe his mother had been right about the stork? Maybe there was a stork? If baby's came from light, there was always the chance of them being brought down a chimney, or left on a door step, by a big bird, wasn't there? Even with the comedic thoughts of the stork, Jamie failed to find the amusement in the idea of parenthood. He barely made enough to support himself. He barely had the food to feed himself. He was late on rent as it was, and now he was intended to be an expecting father? What cruel joke had fate started? Was it punishment?
His jaw ajar, Jamie had stared at the Reverie - then at Aure, before shaking his head and setting a hand on his head. "I'm going to need an anti-depressant." His voice had mumbled, the chipper nature becoming somewhat grim, down-trodden. "One thing to have a ball of light following you, but babies require time, and I gotta work." Everything had been whispered, solitary concerns seemingly intended for himself, as if he were having some minor argument of excuses and options.
He felt like a teenager all over again.
With his shoulders shaking on a breath, the man had once again smoothed back his hair. His hand had clutched the tattered bangs and held onto them tightly as his eyes scanned the ground. Aure's comments had flooded over him. It's Greek. Something about Greek? He'd completely forgotten the topic of conversation! Until it once more concerned children and guardians. Suddenly he felt a bout of anxiety. Whatever that light was - that Reverie - that, that child? Whatever it was, it was relying on him. What pressure. He almost wanted to crack, turn, and run. If he caught a train, maybe it would never find him? But... He had shivered. Life and death. Death and life.
He couldn't do it. Too many times had he faced the road alone, and too many times he had been let down. He was better than anyone who had let him down. He was reliable, so he believed! Even if he was irresponsible at times, he was reliable. Honest. A melancholy look on his face, Jamie had rubbed away at his arm, the hand motions and fidgeting continuing as a result of how uneasy he felt. "That's not something you hear every day, you know? Not unless you're careless." His voice had trailed off, fading behind a loud throat clearing.
The Reverie - Sarin - had seemed to quiver at the gloom expressed by the man of which he had attached to. In a bout of frenzy for the optimistic, he had traveled back to Aure, keeping a small distance between himself and her hand, but close enough.
Jamie had watched the light slink for a moment, then flee, as if it were as distraught as he was. His grin returned, strong, determined. He wouldn't let anyone down. He could do it. He'd just have to work. Food wasn't an issue. After all, he worked at a restaurant, and dinner was free if he felt like cooking there and having a small portion of his check retracted, smaller than it would cost if it were casual dining, anyway. It was the necessary items of which he worried about. However, he supposed... If he got a cheaper apartment, or worked out a deal to pay rent in two installments each time it was due... It would work. "It's fine, though." His voice had piped, his features brightening and filling with confidence. "Surprising. Way surprising. This sort of thing happen often?" Curious. He was curious! "And who's Shen?"

Aure's lips thinned out; she rearranged her features into a strict face. She seemed to sense where his train of thought was leading. "If you try to run, he'll just follow you." She cuddled the light close and petted it where its head would be. Her smile came back as Jamie seemed to adapt to the idea of having a son, and she eventually let the light escape back to Jamie.
"It's been happening a lot more recently. I'm one of the oldest, and I'm seeing new Illu every week."

Sarin had seemed to enjoy the little pat. Thankfully, he had jittered and brightened before fading off to Jamie once again. At a turn of events, the man's surprise had seemingly worked itself down - for Sarin was greeted rather than shunned or stepped away from.
Jamie was not too fond of the idea of something following him continuously - and in the manner of which it did. Yet, he figured the options were rough. He was set on succeeding. How it would affect his job was a minor concern, and, if all else failed, he could work in the kitchen or clean up tables instead of taking orders and dragging out the food. With a faint look of sheepishness, Jamie had set a quaking hand out to touch the light. It had not even given him a chance to get near. Almost instantly, it had knocked itself against his hand, forcing the motion all on its own.
"Sounds like a ... er ... Rabbit has been busy, then?" Jamie had spoken, not entirely sure of what the idea of more appearing quickly meant. He was new. He knew nothing, and only time would edify his ignorant mind. "I thought you were an angel?" His face turned wry, as if he had caught the girl in her story. "Would that make these guys you say are coming angels too?" With a slight motion, he had shaken his head. His feet began to shuffle a little as he looked back at the bridge, his mind veering in path - what unknown journey had he been making in leaving the ridiculously cheap motel room? Whatever it was, it would never be completed, he supposed, for he had forgotten its exactness.

Aure picked up her backpack and threw it over her shoulder, smiling in satisfaction at the two. "Perhaps. Or perhaps it's been a god?" She straightened her jeans and pulled her tendrils of hair out of the way.
"Well, I lied." She skipped away, disappearing into the heavy forest.

In silence, Jamie stood, left alone with the blazing red-pink light containing a solitary flower. The wind grew still, and the chaotic sense of his mind had vanished entirely. No longer did the rent matter, or his job, or his life. He felt nothing for a time. Nothing but a tightness in his chest and a bout of blissful peace once it had unwound. With sloppy stance, he had lightly touched his shoulder, wincing and mentally berating the action. Shoulders were such sensitive areas for him, much like joints.
Soon the pain faded away, and the silence was once more replaced by the wind. With Aure gone, and his shoes fixed, Jamie turned and began walking. The little reverie followed after at an eccentric pace. Neither of them crossed the bridge.
