First Impressions
((Note: This RP is backlogged from previous times. ))
“Watch where your going!” Were the first words to leave a hurried shoppers lips as the startled and confused child ran head long into what he had no idea would become an intricate part of his future.
Evarobby was upset. No…he was more than upset. The child was simply and purely distressed at this point in his life and was concentrating more on holding back the tears which threatened to spill from his eyes, rather than where he had been going. Paper boxes, fancy tissue and other nick knacks lay jumbled about the area catching a few laughs from a nearby group of snot-nosed teenagers and quite a few stairs from snobbish shoppers.
A elongated sigh came from the irritated shoppers lips, whatever had caused the strange boy in front of her to crash against her, must have been very distressing…distressing enough so that the shove carried enough force to knock her over. It wasn’t until she saw the look on the little boy’s face that she grew worried over the “distress” factor.
Kid looked like he was about to loose it on the floor of the nicest, most expensive store in all of Gaia. The last thing Naito, for that was her name, Naito, wanted was more stares in their direction. “Hey—hey kid…” she stumbled up faltering for a moment on her five inch heels before turning her attention back to Eva “It’s ok. Look, I got the bags. No worries. Don’t cry over spilt milk now. Erm…uh” the boy showing no signs of cheering up prompted a muttered question from the blonde hipster, “You got a name sweets?”
Half dazed, voice running over and over again his head, Eva turned to the girl now towering above him. From a very young age Eva had shown great reluctance to talk but once he had found the ability to express himself, he used it quite freely. The taboo of talking with strangers had yet to bother the child. Freize and Arafel had warned Eva of the danger that could lie in wait from an unknown face, but the child always brushed it aside, eager to cheer a down face or simply make a new friend.
It had been a very long time that Eva had worked on speaking. First he started with a simple word (or name rather), turned words, which easily grew to phrases, sentences and so forth until he was now quite good at expressing himself verbally. Except, now where words would bubble from his lips, exchanging cheery greetings and shy “sorrys” they failed him. Nothing would come…only…only some sort of dull numb pain at the back of his throat, a lump which only reminded him of why he felt this way. Dad wasn’t coming back. Eva didn’t want to talk with this lady. All he wanted to do was grow strangely silent. He wanted to go back to when he was younger, when he didn’t talk…but a time nonetheless where he had Freize.
“Uh—Hellooo?” A fleshy white hand waved Eva from his rightful sorrowing on the floor. “And people call me blonde…anyone awake behind that thick hat of yours? Got a name?” At the less than comforting treatment Eva’s ears swiveled back but he quickly stood up and replied, even if he didn’t want to talk, it would feel odd not to at least give her his name and a brief sorry. “Evarob—” he was cut off as Naito gave him less than sufficient time to respond.
“Eva, huh? We’ll I have to say it fits you in an odd sort of way. Here--” Quickly before Eva could protest (not that he would have) Naito shoved several large bags in his arm. “Ya can help me carry these to my car. Think of this as um, helping me pick up my bags, when you were still too stunned to do so.” Perhaps expecting some reluctance from the roo child, Naito was pleased to find he didn’t say a word. In fact, the only thing Eva did was tilt his head to the side, an age old habit he had picked up from his younger days to express his usual confusion. This woman was rather strange…strange but at the same time kind of interesting and so he decided to follow.
Stepping from the large store, Eva turned and made a sharp right towards the exit, expecting it to be the only logical direction but was suddenly veered strait as Naito’s fake nails dug into his shoulder. “Not yet, I wanted to get some Coco first—been craving it all day. You want some too?” Tossing her head back to rid herself of a pesky some hair Naito headed off towards the nearest standard cheap and easy coffee stand. “You look like you could use something warm to chase off your troubles.”
Ears perking up Eva nodded and moved closer to the larger woman. “ Uh…yeah. Coco sounds nice. I like hot chocolate. Yes please.” Tail swishing as he walked on, Eva thought of how he enjoyed the delicious warm liquid. He didn’t like solid chocolate that much…but coco was nice. It was comforting and warm and delicious, not the same as Chocolate which was hard to swallow and sometimes lumpy.
Looking down at the bags in his hand, did Eva only notice his other hand to be free and now holding a steaming paper cup with a lid over it. It seemed as if he had been lost in thought only moments before thinking of how nice Coco was, but not nearly as good as apples…and then that only reminded him of Freize and— “Ah!” Eva shifted slightly as he almost lost a loose rolling package from underneath the crook of his arm. It was unusual for the little one to loose his balance and as if on cue, Naito turned around to comment upon it.
“Distracted?” The blonde asked before giving a smack of her lips and taking her receipt. Eva couldn’t do anything before she chimed in again. “Family driving you nuts at Christmas? I know mine is. Speaking of family…” Naito nervously glanced form side to side, “I didn’t steal you away from yours did I? Last thing I want is to be accused of is kidnapping. ”
The last combination of Naito’s strange sentence didn’t trouble Eva, it was the mention of family. “ I don’t—have a family,” The first thing out of his mouth and he didn’t care to think more on it until the woman pointed out that he was, “Very well dressed for an orphan.”
Eva quick to correct his mistake, fumbled for words overstepping a large crowed of shoppers. “Oh I, I didn’t mean it like that. I have a family well sort of…people to look after me and I kind of got a sister. She’s like me, but were not related…and dad’s gone now.” Eva’s blue eyes fell as he mentioned Freize and suddenly it was very hard to find the words he meant to say. “… and I love every one very much but without him—”
“Feels kind of empty inside?” Naito cut in once again, before reaching out to hold open the door which lead to the parking lot. The child nodded, not sure if that’s exactly what he meant or not, but it was close enough.
“Well I have to say I’m sorry to hear about your old man,” huffed the blonde as she side stepped a puddle reaching for her car keys. Two quick beeps and the contraption swung open of its own accord “But I suppose you can’t do anything about it. Funny how that works, huh? People always tell you to move on…and you don’t want to, but you have to. Shitty situation if you ask me.” Heaving a couple of bags into her car Naito turned and glanced at Eva who peered back at her just as intently as she was staring at him.
It was unusual for an adult to be speaking the way this woman was. Anyone else he had tried to talk to gave him a sad glance or a pat on the back, but her words were different. They stung a bit, like a waking shock. “Who knows either way,” Naito continued as she lifted Eva’s bags and shoved them into the already stuffed trunk. “Maybe he’ll come back yet. Also I know your probably going to be celebrating Christmas with people you already know but—here—”
Reaching into her purse Naito fumbled around until she had found a tattered piece of paper big enough to write her name and phone number upon. Finished, she stuffed it into Eva’s empty right hand. “Call me if you want to come over for the holidays or something, you know, get your mind off things?”
Hands curled around the paper in his fingers and Eva nodded. The roo child wasn’t exactly sure if he liked the idea of forgetting things so suddenly but his visit with this woman was rather nice. “Thanks,” Eva nodded again, smiled shyly and then waved as he turned to leave. He had half a mind to stay, but also wanted some time to think things over. Not that he was worried he would be a bother if he remained with Naito, he just…just had to give this all a good thinking, something he rarely did. But as Naito had pointed out with his dad, needed to be done. Not pleasant, but necessary.
With the boy turned and heading away from her now, a slow smile crept over the blonde woman’s face. Still and frozen as ice, she watched Eva head back towards the area from which they had come. For you see, it wasn’t “if” the boy would call, it was “when” he would call.

Meeting New Family
((Also backlogged entries))
"Hey," brown eyes lit up, a sweet smile was passed to the crowd before him but before the lovebird could say anything else he was tackled by the head of the house.
"Paxton!" It was more of a squeal than his name, but the feathered teenager didn't mind. The boy was expecting that on site his mother would smack him, not hug him, the affection was welcome. Then again, what kind of loving parent would hurt their child? Naito may have had her moments but that didn't mean she would miss him terribly if he were gone. "It's good to see you to Ma'..." He sighed absent mindedly and closed his eyes nestling his head against the old familiar scent that was Naito.
The heart warming reunion did not last long however--"Have you gotten taller?" Naito frowned, stepped back and placed her hands on her hips in sudden disapproval. Puzzled at the strange welcome Paxton looked down at himself? It had been months since he was trapped in that hospital bed, in all that rush, the hustle and bustle, could the impossible really be true? Had he grown up? Mentally he didn't feel different, but the proof was in his height. The last time he had hugged his mother she had been the one to lean down...but--ah, hey, wait a minute...?
"Have you grown fatter?" The words were off his lips before he knew it and Naito on him.
"Are you a jackass?! I think that blow went to your head!" Oh boy, Paxton must have touched on a sore spot for the girl was really mad. Naito's face just kept getting redder and redder.
"Ow! Hey Ma'--" the boy held up his arms flinching under the wrath of a women whose weight had just been insulted. Geeze, how could she get so upset over just a few pounds? If she didn't like the way her body was going, she should lay off the cake a little. "Hey--Hey Ma'--No, wait really--" Paxton pulled away trying to get a better look at the creature peaking it's head out from behind Tsukasa's side. "Who's that?"
At the sudden notice, Evarobby's ears perked up and his head tilted to the side. Was this guy talking about him? Ever since he had moved into Naito's strange house, he was curious about this 'son' she kept bringing up. Curiosity, however, didn't do the real thing justice. Paxton was unlike anything he had been expecting. It was those colors! Just how many of them was he wearing? Blue eyes blinked as Eva curiously Eva wondered what his new...house mate was like. Heh. House mate...it was still a little early to be calling each other brother.
But...he would get over that right? The thought alone made Eva's brown ears swivel down to his side. Freeze had been gone a while now, still...it was hard getting used to it. Part of him still couldn't believe his dad of all people had abandoned him, left him and everyone else. He just...Eva wasn't ready to accept it yet. That didn't mean, however, he wasn't going to make the best out of this situation. Stepping away from the blonde haired boy he was hiding behind, Eva cocked his head to the side and gave a small wave at Paxton. 'Hi' he said, in his own way, still not much for speech.
"Oh him?" Naito turned and glanced back at the roo child. "That's Eva, I picked him up at Christmas while you were away." Her face turned into a sour-sweet grin. "He's staying with us until...until..." rather embarrassed Naito peeked an eye open at Eva, who looked worried at the woman's lack of knowledge. "--Until however long he wants to!" She quickly blurted out, hoping this would cover for her mistake. It did. Eva smiled back...just a little.
Paxton bit his lip. "I see…WAIT, WAIT, WHOSE THAT?!" Feathers were flung as a frantically waving lovebird pointed at the sleeping orange and white stripped child in Yahto's arms. Just what had happened while he was away in the hospital? "Oh?" Naito looked back at Shi, who slept soundly in the smiling blue-haired man's arms. "That's Shi..or...as the tiger in my dream called her Shi Xiang? Shi Xianggu? Whatever." Frustrated Nai threw her hands up into the air and proceeded along with her story, as if this were the most normal thing in the world. "So yeah, came from a arrow--blah, blah, blah. You we're gone a long time. The world just doesn't stop for you. You know?"
Deep in the pit of his stomach, Paxton had a horrible sinking feeling. This...was going to be a bad week, wasn't it?

Adjustments
"So, how do you like it here?" Naito looked up from her knitting, curiously searching Eva's eyes for any sign of discontent. But, the child whom was playing with some toys on the floor, seemed to have none. Life was wonderful like that, Naito thought to herself, putting the yarn aside for a moment to give the boy a bit more attention. Eva was wonderful. Yes, yes, it was certainly true Eva was heh, need she say it again? Wonderful. And as if to complement this very fact, the child looked up from his play and gave Nai a soft, endearing sort of smile. "It's nice," the phrase was simple, not too complex, and while other 'foster' parents would be offended at such a generic answer, Eva got that Naito would get what he was trying to say.
"I'm glad. You had it rough for a while, but tough things come to pass. Yadda...yadda..." she didn't look up, as she took on her knitting again, but Evarobby's ears went right on down. His new 'mom' was...a little unconventional wasn't she? It didn't bug him, in fact it was kind of nice not having someone always on his case for climbing the furniture or trees...heck, he could even be a picky eater. Yea, it was great in the sense of lawless order every kid dreamed of. But then again, it wasn't 'home' it wasn't Freize.
He stopped, haunted by this thought that seemed to catch him at the most peculiar of times. Some days he woke up perfectly happy and it felt like nothing had changed, life was as normal as it should be. Then something like this would happen, one creeping little thought and he was back where he had started several months ago alone and without a family...
"Hey munchkin, I'm talking to you--" Naito snapped her fingers in a sharp concise manor, which caused Eva's ears to roll back. 'Sorry', he didn't say it, but he looked it, those big blue eyes of his growing possibly a bit larger. "Naw, it's fine--" the older blond grinned as she moved about the cushion she was seated on, trying to find that perfect spot. "You were just looking a bit, 'deer in the headlights' I had to save you." Eva nodded, he was thankful for it...though he still hadn't forgotten.
"Anyway," his mentor continued on, working the yarn she was holding into a nice loop, "I was saying I want to get you out of the house more. You've been kind of moping around ever since you got here. A small period of grief is good but...yeah, I was thinking you should go see your sister. You know, get your groove back, you're too good looking to be antisocial."
It wasn't the last part that made Eva speak up, but rather the first, "You mean, I should go visit Ilori?" To be perfectly honest, the idea that he could leave the house had never crossed his mind. It was true he wasn't being held hostage here, but ...he had never thought about going back, until now.
"Yea, yea," Naito waved a hand, "You know get out, go see your sister, meet your friends again. Hey I could even hold you a party if you wanted."
"Oh, no thanks--" Parties were fun, with lots of friends and usually good food, but it didn’t seem…hmn, right on this particular occasion. "But I will go see Ilori, perhaps Teagan too." His eyes rolled up as he looked to the ceiling searching for some sort of answer. How could he have forgotten about those two? All right, not forgotten but...what had happened to them since he had gone away? Did Teagan even know he had moved away, what had happened...another sigh, that damn thought had struck again.
Of course, Naito wouldn't have it, though, and promptly came to his rescue. "Eh-hey-hey--quit moping, kids like you should be full of energy. Off with you now. Go...climb a tree or something!" She waved a hand and while she pretended to keep her gaze directly at the scarf in her hands, from the corner of her eye she watched him stand up and dart out of the room.
Climb a tree? Hmn, Eva could do that.~
