The only thing I'm really wondering is weither the bullet brushed his eye or not. If it actually made full contact with his left eye then I'm pretty sure he would have died. He looked like he had a pretty bad injury after he got shot though...hmm i think he got mustangs shoulder too. Thats why it was so bad. Archer probably shot twice, first one mustang almost dodged, it hit him in the eye, and the other one hit him in the sholder (maybe? i dunno, im just going by memory) It could be either of them! I mean you don't hear Archer shoot...ever... but then Hawkeye has a perfect aim... Also there is the factor that she could have missed and hit Roy because she was really nervous and scared... It's so hard to choose! no, im pretty sure it was archer. If you watch it, when she ran up archer was just standing there, then she noticed him and shot him a few times until he went down. Mustang had already been shot. Yeah from what I saw Mustang was already down on the ground. Who knows though he might not have even gotten shot at all. Perhaps he was just really tired from his big fight earlier and Hawkeye managed to shoot Archer before he could do anything to Mustang. nah, then why would he wear an eyepatch?

Haha this doesn't help at all. I found a source that told me that Roy Mustang looses his eye in his battle with Pride but then I also found another source that says that it is assumed that he lost his eye from Archer but it is possible that Hawkeye might have shot him on accident because we never hear Archer's gun go off. The sources say that any of us could be right xd

I wouldn't be able to stay calm even if I was the same kind of level headed person she was! Her hands were probably shaking and her eyesight blurry thinking about what might have happened to her beloved Mustang!

I could have sworn that I was Hawkeye hit Archer with every bullet she shot though =/ heh this is confusing.

Mustang had lost his left eye shortly after his battle with Führer King Bradley (the Homunculus Pride), in a standoff with former officer Frank Archer, and now (ironically) wears an eye patch as Pride once did.
According to Wikipedia Archer caused Roy to loose his eye.
I also remember Riza Hawkeye telling Roy that everyone had done their part but her which was to protect Roy. She states that she should have arrived earlier. This causes me to believe that it was Archer who shot Roy not her..she just arrived on the scene a little to late to save Mustang from being shot.

Melina_Grimm I watched a clip from that part and I wanna confirm that Hawkeye hit Archer every time she shot him. Also, when they showed Mustang laying on the ground (or steps...whatever) he was all bloody on the side of his face where he's missing the eye. Yup I watched it recently and saw that too. 3nodding

yeah! i was watching that episode the other day! is it okay if i suggest something?
okay, i agree that roy was shot in the eye by archer, and riza came in late so maybe she didnt hear the gunshot over her panting and running(it's possible ya know?) and then she came onto the scene and shot archer 3-4 times(srry i forgot how many it was) but i think the reason mustang didnt die from the shot, is because if the shot was made at the right angle with the right precision-which would be more likely since archer shot with his left robotic arm- that it shot roy directly in the eye. and if that were the case you see, the brain is above the eyeballs from that position, so i think when roy was shot, the bullet went strait through the eyeand was slowed down by the cushion of the eye's material and slowed the bullet to a point where it stopped , still in his head, but not making contact with any vital parts of the brain...the bullet might have later been taken out of his head and been confirmed that roy would never see out of that eye again due to the damage of the retinas and to the eye itself...
but of course this is only a hypothesis and if possible, maybe roy did try to move out of the way, but then his eye got shot through a side ways angle which would have either made the bullet come strait out the side of his head, or that it stopped there like i said before and would have made retrieval an easier task...im srry this is so long! but i cant help but wounder!

There were pillars on the steps, right? It's possible Archer could have shot and missed. A bullet could have ricochet off and hit Mustang in the eye. It might have less force to it after hitting the pillar.
