"Uh, nope...sorry," Argo said, feeling a bit bad that she wasn't a bit smarter. She'd never been much for those liteary works, and she sure didn't have the capability of seeing a movie. She smiled at the boy and waved, "Hi! I'm Argo...I think."
Friend? Well, that sounded nice, but she'd never had a friend before.

((Heya! ^.^ Ne, do you think that Aiden would know about Kensukia being a Dreamer?))

Kensukia turned and smiled brightly at the sight of him, both pleased to see Aiden and a little relieved to see a familiar face when she was feeling a little out of her depth. "Aiden!" She crouched down a little to bring herself to his eye level, an action which some would label as being condescending; however Kensukia simply thought it was important to be on the same level as someone when you spoke to them. So that you could see eye-to-eye... both figuratively and literally.

"How've you been?" she asked warmly. "And how's everyone - Yamika and Orion and all of them? I've already been to see Mariana and got my sword back, but I don't feel right without my bow..." She was perhaps carrying on a little, but she never really felt like she was back until she saw Aiden, and had done the rounds with him on all of their friends and acquaintances. Orion was the best carpenter in the realm; an old man whose skill had by no means diminished over the years, he appeared gruff and crotchety until you got to know him, whereupon he was revealed to be secretly generous and fiercely loyal. Yamika was a skilled herbalist with a soft voice and great wisdom; she could be trusted with any secret, and so knew almost everything that went on within a range of about fifty miles.

Kensukia suddenly remembered Argo and started a little, chiding herself for forgetting. "Er... Aiden, this is Argo... we just met." She made the introduction somewhat awkwardly, not really knowing what to say. "She's new around here," Kensukia added as an afterthought.

[I don't see why not, seeing as he does know that she's not always around, but it's up to you in the end. razz ]

"Hello, Argo, nice to meet you!" Aiden said with a wide smile, taking another look at her before looking back to Kensukia to answer her questions. "I've been...good, Kensukia." The break before the word 'good' was barely noticeable, and he continued right on to her other question without missing a beat, his smile still in place.

"And everyone else is great! I'm sure your bow's right where you left it, too, 'cause I made sure of it." He looked proud for a moment. "You can get it whenever you want." His grin then broadened. "And, guess what? Orion's teaching me how to carve wood!" It was a mighty feat to him, seeing as he had been 'too young' for some time before the old man finally agreed. He reached into a pocket and pulled out a bit of wood that resembled a boat...if just slightly. "See? It's not done yet, but isn't it awesome?"

If because of the fact that he was still young, he bounced right back to the rest of what Kensukia had said when introducing Argo, right after showing them both the item. With it still in his hand, he studied the other girl again. "So you're new? That means you haven't seen everything yet, right? I know all the best spots to play, if you want to later! Kensukia can come, too!" He was cheerful and filled with child-like innocence at the same point, even if he was nearly a teenager.

((Okay, well in that case let's say that he knows ^^))

Kensukia grinned; Aiden had to be the best guide to have around the place, as long as you didn't want a serious tour. Maybe he'd be able to help her out with her current predicament, too.

So that only he could hear, she whispered, "I'm pretty sure this girl's a Dreamer too, but she doesn't have a clue about where she is or anything. I don't know what to do!"

Then in a normal tone she continued, "So, you finally managed to persuade the old grump to teach you something, huh? It's about time he passed on some of his long-hoarded knowledge. And looks like you're gonna be a great apprentice!" She nodded towards the boat.

Something was nagging at the edge of Kensukia's mind - a remembered feeling, something from earlier in the conversation - something Aiden had said, that made her feel... a little uncertain... but no, it was like trying to hold onto a dream; the harder she tried, the faster it slipped away, so she gave up.

"Really? Awesome!" Aiden's loud comment had really been about the fact that the girl was another Dreamer, but it could easily be mistaken for Kensukia's compliment, and how she said he could be a great apprentice. As it was, his face was red from the comment, though it was gone quickly enough.

So, Kensukia didn't know what to do about the girl? Hmm...This looked like a problem for him to solve! After all, he had always been fascinated by Dreamers like Kensukia, wondering what it'd be like to be one. He passed by the thought quickly, though; what he never told anyone - well, anyone except Yamika, seeing as he knew she'd never tell anyone - was that whenever he tried imagining what the world that the Dreamers came from, he'd find himself fading, just a little bit.

Honestly, the idea scared him, but he didn't know why it happened, and so never told anyone else. Yamika didn't know what it meant, either...

"Argo, you're really gonna like this place, I know it! It's full of all sorts of neat stuff...even though some of it, you'd hafta sneak around to see." He didn't go into detail about that, but the mischievious look in his eyes said it all: he'd sneaked before. "Maybe I'll tell you about them, one day!"

He then gazed up at Argo, a curious expression on his face. "Where're you from, Argo? What do you do for fun?" It seemed like a random question, but he had a smile on his face.

"I like this place alot. It's a lot better then where I usually hang out, and the people are nicer too," Argo said and looked down at the boat-like object. Before she could even think she snatched it up, but not with her hand. Instead, a tentacle snapped out of her body and picked it up. She yelped, dropping the object as the tentacle slipped back into her body.
"What was that?"

Aiden reached down and picked up the boat after she dropped it, checking it over to see if there were any cracks; luckily, there weren't. He then looked up at Argo, who was looking rather confused. "That was one of those things that some fish have," he said brightly, not really knowing the word 'tentacle', nor the word 'octopus' that would go with it. He described it best he could with those words, though. "Does that mean you're part fish?"

Kensukia's brow furrowed; she was at the moment more concerned about Argo suddenly snatching Aiden's boat than about what she had used to snatch it. "What did you-" she began rather sharply, but checked herself, swallowing the words 'do that for' which would have made up the rest of the sentence. Maybe it hadn't been Argo's fault that she had snatched the boat; maybe she wasn't in full control of her... tentacles. (On a side note, where the hell had they come from? Kensukia was now even more confused about Argo's race). But she still felt protective towards her friend, and had the boat been damaged in any way, she probably would have found it harder to master her anger. As it was, Kensukia managed simply to say brusquely, "You ought to be more careful," and start walking in the direction of Orion's carpentry.

"Come on," she called over her shoulder, deliberately infusing her voice with a cheerful tone. "Let's go and get my bow back, shall we?" Once she had all her things together, she might be able to think a bit better. She felt a bit disoriented without having first completed her 'ritual' of greeting everyone.

Argo cursed her impulsive nature. It wasn't that she had control over her tentacles, it was just she didn't have control over her mind.
"Maybe I'll just leave," Argo said, cheery tone leaving her voice.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 17, 2007 9:23 pm

"But why?" Aiden asked, even as Kensukia turned to leave. "If you leave now, it'll take even longer for you to understand what's going on." He then gave a cheerful smile as he gazed up at her. "I think you should come with us and meet Orion," he said suggestively, adding in that childlike charm that it seemed like few could ignore.

After saying that, he turned and darted off after Kensukia, stopping after going a few feet away from Argo, then turned back and waved in her direction, calling again for her to come with them. After all, Orion's place wasn't all that far away; she'd probably be able to see where they went in, even if she didn't move.

He thought that she'd make a good decision, and so went after Kensukia, catching up with her a few minutes after she had started off, seeing as he was going at a much faster pace. "I hope she comes with us," he commented as he caught up and started walking next to her, his pace still faster in order to remain caught up.

"Mmm," Kensukia replied, a little doubtfully. She still didn't fancy having to explain the workings of the Dreamworld to Argo, but otherwise the girl would end up wandering around the Dreamworld by herself, having to find things out the hard way.

Pausing before the door to Orion's hut, she glanced back for a moment to see if Argo was following, and then entered. "Hello, Orion," she said cheerfully to the old man who was kneeling in the middle of the hut, rapidly whittling away at a small wooden animal. A pile of other assorted animals lay next to them and Kensukia knew that they were a present for Caralyn, his great-niece, who was just two years old. "Where's my bow?"

Orion rolled his eyes and grunted, waving a hand towards a wooden cupboard that was, obviously, home made. "Over there. And damned useless it is too." He blew some fine sawdust off the animal, which turned out to be a unicorn, complete with long, spiralling horn and wavy mane. Orion had tried many times to replicate the intricate design on Kensukia's bow, but to no avail. The design was like an optical illusion; if you stared at it for long enough in a sort of unfocused way, the swirls would manifest themselves into figures: of angels, and demons, or symbols of power like bolts of lightning and flames. Orion's works were beautiful, but they didn't do that.

There was something else that Kensukia's bow could do that she wasn't sure any others could. When she picked it up, a faint glow would run through the grooves of the pattern - yet it always seemed so lifeless when it was apart from her. Kensukia had obtained it not quite a year ago, from a trader who gave it to her, mysteriously, for no money. He'd turned out to be an Otherworld thief (although she hadn't known that until a long time after) so maybe it wasn't so surprising that the bow was unusual.

"Where's that boy you seem so friendly with?" Orion asked in his usual grouchy manner as Kensukia approached the cupboard. He was referring, of course, to Aiden. "He needs learn to concentrate more, and not be so damned frivolous all the time." His head was bent over his carving once more, and he didn't seem to have noticed that Aiden was in fact within hearing range.

"Language, Orion," Kensukia replied. "Aiden's over there." She knew that Orion wasn't entirely serious in his criticisms of the boy; it was just his way. She opened the doors of the handmade cupboard. This wasn't any ordinary cupboard; after all, it was made by a master carpenter. As the doors were opened, a drawer-like compartment folded out, and in it lay Kensukia's quiver of arrows, surrounded by nails of all sizes, both metal and wooden. There was also an assortment of different blades, all forged by Mariana and Keppek, the man who had taught her all she knew.

Argo just stayed outside, debating wheter or not to leave. She hated being such a burden. Maybe she'll just go. She could figure out this world for herself, right? Oh, who was she kidding, she didn't know anything. She didn't belong in the real world and she didn't belong here. She slumped down, head buried in her hands. What was she going to do?

"Yeah, I'm right here, Orion!" Aiden said brightly, coming forward, the boat still in his hands. "I did some more work on the boat after I left the other day, see?" He held it up again, holding it carefully so that the older man could see if he chose to. "And I wasn't being fr...fr..." He paused, either unable to remember the word that had been used, or unable to pronounce it.

He then gave up and grinned. "I was being really careful." As he showed him the boat, he glanced over for a moment towards where Kensukia was, attention on watching her open the cupboard. He could see that what she wanted was in there, though couldn't see specifics because of the fact that she was in the way.

A moment later, he looked back to Orion. "Do you think, once it's done, we can make designs on it, like you do with your animals?"
PostPosted: Thu Mar 22, 2007 1:15 pm

Kensukia took out the quiver and slung it across her back. Then she reached up to the side of the cupboard and slid across a bolt, opening a door to another compartment, a tall narrow one. She couldn't see the contents due to shadow, but knew her bow was in there. She reached in blindly and was rewarded with an answering glow as her fingers brushed smooth, carved wood.

Hearing Aiden's voice, Orion glanced up briefly and granted. "Hmph. it needs work. And what makes you think that you could replicate the work of a master carpenter like me, boy?"

Kensukia laughed, emerging from the cupboard with her bow in one hand; a faint shimmering glow still lingered around the carved design. "Always so modest, Orion," she said with a grin as she shut the cupboard. "What he really means is, 'good work, keep it up!'"

Kensukia's eyes scanned the room, and she frowned. "Hey, we seem to be missing someone. Aiden, did you see where Argo went...?"

((Hey guys: we have four players now, so hows about I create an OOC forum? Didn't seem worth having one up until now, but it would be fun. I can also keep a record there of who's playing who, and some more details about the realms. (Most people, who have sense, reserve a few posts when creating an rp in case they have to put anything else later. I was silly and didn't do that. :XP smile Sound good?))

"Oi, carpenter, how much longer- Oh, sorry, didn't know you were busy."

A tall, probably about 6' 10" to about seven feet tall stood a draconian. A rare sight as Draconians were native to the Jewel kingdom. The man had long black hair, reaching down to his lower back, loose around broad shoulders. Pointed ears sneaked out underneath the ram like horns that came from his temples. Shaggy bangs fell into mud brown eyes as a sharp tooth mouth grinned at the female elven. "'Ello luv," He grinned and stepped further into the hut, showing the bottom half of his body, with scales and dragon legs, plus a long tail that lazily swayed behind him.

The dark skinned draconian turned back to the carpenter, "That box done yet?" It was a small box, small enough to fit in his hand, but it was to be carved and have several gem stone placement areas. He frowned as he saw his hand, greenish brown scales covered it. He wasn't fond of the Forest or Earth areas, his scales turned unattractive colors.
