The filler counts, it happened.

The filler really is just episodes in the series with no real relevance with the main plot. In this case if it's not dealing with fighting Akatsuki or finding Sasuke.
He was just kind of saying it. It could also be a translation issue. In japanese it might have ment why do you always feal faint or something.

I noticed this a while back. I've come to these conclusions:

1.) It's just Kiba's attitude. He's the type of person to emphasize.
2.) Kishi did this on purpose to give the readers a hint that Hinata still likes Naruto to a major degree.
3.) During the 2.5 year period, se caught fainting spells whenever Naruto was mentioned. [[<-- Crack. Ignore.]]

I really think it's either one or two...or both combined.

I agree with your first conclusion.

Was that even in the manga? (it was too long ago and I'm too lazy to look)
