Of course some people told the truth! But that didn't mean that she knew which ones were which. Was it so wrong to put up a defense?

"I don't believe in better lions," she told him sharply, trudging past him towards her home. "Survival of the fittest," she muttered, her head low to the earth, tail flicking passively.

When he asked the next question, she stopped and looked at him. "What's it to you to earn my trust?"

She didn't believe in better lions? He sighed, looked away from her and looked towards the ground. Maybe no one else he knew would believe in them..or him either. This was beginning to seem like a pointless quest to journey on. Even this strange girl didn't believe in them.

"Survival of the fittest huh? What if someone you cared about, family, wasn't as fit as others...does that automatically condemn them to death?" he said lowly, he didn't want to face her, his sister, something was wrong, he knew it. He knew it since the last time he saw her, and this girl was saying those who weren't fit deserved to die?

"I already told you why...but you seem like you don't even care..."
No one ever cares...

"Family is your genes. If you are fit enough to protect your family, they live. This life. Get used to it." Her ears flicked back to her skull. Clearly he didn't see the true folding behind it all. You did what you could, and if you trusted, you were automatically condemning yourself to death.

He seemed depressed. Great. Last thing she wanted was his mother rushing in to beat her to a pulp because she'd made him sad. Not that she couldn't hold her own, it just wasn't wise, was all.

"Look kid, you're right. I don't care. What is there to care about? I don't know you. I'd rather keep it that way. What you don't know, can't hurt you." She sighed, and turned in a circle, pondering whether to leave now, or stay and try to knock some sense into him, for he was clearly cracked.

"What you need, is a good strong . . . whatever. Someone who will be your backup in case you trust the wrong person. Don't ask for guidance in life. Make it." She dug sharply into the earth with an unfurled claw, her eyes flashing out into the territory beyond.

"Now, if you'll excuse me, I have hunting to do."

Gharadi listened to her and put pressure on his paws to push them against the dirt beneath them. She was so confusing! Could she at least make up her mind or be more specific? She doesn't care? She doesn't want to know him? And he wasn't a kid...

He turned his eyes to her again, they were more serious then before, "Fine then, go off on your hunting, and if you don't care about what I do...then I guess I'll go this way..." he said starting to walk past her, heading towards the direction in which she had come from. She didn't want him near her family area, but she said she didn't care at all...

Well, then if she didn't want to trust him, didn't want to care, then he wouldn't care about her warnings...

Nyumbani wanted to scream.

He just wanted to push her bottons.

"Look, you," she said, rounding him off and staring him down. "I don't know what you want, but you aren't making wise choices by getting me angry. You said you wanted me to trust you? Well, you are failing, rather miserably. If you want my trust, try doing things for me?" It was half a question and half a statement.

Perhaps she could use this to her advantage.

"So long as you don't threaten my family, you're fine. That means, stay away from them. Me, if you can catch me, well, you might, just might be able to get some trust just yet. But you're going to have to try hard. That is, if you care enough to see me care."

Anything to stop him from going towards her family, anything. She still didn't trust him, and probably never would, but she could at least use his lying face to help her and the family out. It couldn't be too hard, could it?

Gharadi stopped when she got in front of him. He smirked, flicked his tail. SO what, she cared now? She should really make up her mind, did she really still think he'd hurt her family? Lionesses these days, seemed like the lot of them might be going crazy. His eyes fell on hers,

"Do things for you?"

He was curious.

She wasn't like the other lions and lionesses he met, she was more...confident, stronger too. But he still wanted her trust. Plus, he wanted to prove he wasn't a kid, heck, he'd be just as big as her if not a bit bigger soon anyway!

"Stay away from them..fine..." least he got her to talk to him instead of walking off and leaving him their like that. He turned from that direction and took a few steps from her, from that area, he sighed, then looked over his shoulder at her. "You know...I bet your not as bad when your not irritated..." he took a few more steps, turning his vision from hers, stopped, to say one last thing before he would start back.

"I'll catch you...someday you'll trust me..."

With that, he began padding home, he'd be sure to search her out in the future.
