"Three? Will you..will you take them? I know that it sounds like a large burden, but you have watched a lovely son grow...you know how they are..will you care for them, teach them?" She begged, the stubborn goddess's mind bending and breaking to understand that not one life grew within her but three, and three lives she would have to watch disappear.
"I cannot..please, I cannot..."

Mtima could see how troubled Boma was, and felt her own stomach knot. Why had she never thought like this? How could they be so radically different in this situation. Boma would not care for her own cubs because of her selfish desire not to watch them.. watch them..
The goddess shook her head vigorously, forcing the thoughts from her mind at once. She could not say no to a friend, she could not deny someone she cared about the help they so desperately wanted.
"Boma, if you truly do not wish to stay," she hesitated, swallowing hard, "If you do not stay, I will make sure they are taken care of." It was the least she could do, if Boma would not stay.. if she would not take them to Kubwa..

"If Kubwa takes them, will you guide him? I want the little mortals to be with kin, and you are my kin, if not by blood then I think by soul... that may seem odd, but I have a connection with you, you watched my birth into this world, and I want to stay close."
She thought quickly, "It would be so much different, if I had not seen my son die, if I could ignore the shortness of life, I want to see them...have to.. please do not think badly of me, please."

"I will do my best, Boma," she agreed with a sad smile. So it seemed Boma had made up her mind, she would not stay and be with her family, but instead rely on the aid of others to help them, "I cannot say what I think of you in this situation, perhaps you are seeing clearly and doing what is best for yourself.. and for them."
Mtima had to hope that Boma was thinking about what was best overall. Surely she knew what she was doing, she must. With a small sigh, she looked to Boma's belly again- trying to judge about when these cubs would make their way into the world. It was not clear, but it did not seem it would be too distant a time.
