Another day, another damn mission. And it was early in the morning. Dupli hated early-morning missions. Not that Demetrius cared. Oh no, he had come in, bright as a bluejay, and hauled her naked butt out of bed. Bodily.
Well, she'd gotten him back for that. The changeling remembered very well his last horrid breakup, and had her face on before he could even get her all the way out of bed. That'd teach him. The b*****d.
It sounded easy enough though. Almost lazily, she brushed at the silver of her bodysuit. It would change with whatever shape she assumed, and would garb her accordingly. Useful, and quite fun to play around with.
"Demetrius, if it weren't from the Master, I'd kill you right now." But the slight smile didn't leave her lips as she thought of the darkly debonair 'brother' of hers.
Calling to mind a certain popular, annoying personage of this area, pink bobbing curls became sleek blonde hair to her waist, a bow holding some of it back. Azure eyes and a dress of a similar color spiraled down her figure, leaving her breathtakingly lovely. Only the chill in her gaze and the smirk on her lips showed her for what she truly was.
It was rumored that there was an Orb of power here, and she was sent to fetch. Like an errand girl. Well, she knew why that was, but she was still ticked! She would have been a princess, had things been different. Well.
It went smoothly enough. No one questioned her presence, indeed, she seemed to fit in. Measured responses befitting her assumed station, glowing smile, radiant eyes. Yes, she got in just fine.
Until she touched the orb.
She felt it. The silent, magical trigger tripped by her presence. It was almost if they knew she didn't belong. Abandoning all pretense, she snatched at the Orb, and turned to run.
She ran straight into the now-bladed door. As the steel ripped through her body, the blonde waves faded to black, unruly curls, and the cream skin tanned slightly. Smoky grey eyes were full of pain as Duplika Range fell to the floor, dying slowly.
Her only thought as she took her last breaths, were how upset Demetrius would be with her. Oh dear.

However, Demetrius would only find out about this incident when and if Dupli told him. For it had not been her touch that had tripped the system. It was another power that she had never known of. The orb was placed onto her person, in the way she'd been planning to carry it. Though this was done just as soon as her body-with the orb- was removed from this place magically and the traps cleaned and reset. When someone came to check on the orb they were going to be pretty surprised.
Repairing the body was a bigger job then usual. There were many puncture wounds and a ton of blood to clean up and replace. Though the task was done as per usual and a golden chain was placed around the woman's neck-a chain that would later hold a relic with the soul of a reborn god in it.
The soul and body had to go to separate places now. The body, left on a bed on the Tison Space Ship the Samadueanna, and the soul taken far away to a realm where the souls of deceased Tison deities resided.
Duplika's body was left there as a spirit let one of the ship's main staff-the tactician and assassin, Charlene Dartsmoore-know that there was a new guardian to inform of her duties. Also a file with information on Dupli with a photo of her natural form appeared on the ship's more private computers. Only members of the staff could use this part of the computer system and Dartie made sure to pick up one of the palm pilot like mini computers with the woman's specific information up on it. That way she could read up on her before she did the informing. Handy thing to do.
The woman's soul on the other hand was engaged in something she nor the spirit who chose her, would ever remember. When the guardian soul was brought into the realm a spirit of one of the deities was drawn to it for some reason and the two souls bonded. When Duplika's soul was sent back to her body, the newly bonded soul was taken with her-going into a newly appeared relic when she went back into her body. Now the woman was able to wake up, able to feel once again. There was no pain but there was the feeling of the relic on her neck and the orb in her shirt.
And standing at the edge of her bed, clad in leather and metal, was a woman with a very very odd hairstyle, waiting for her to wake up so she could get to explaining. "Yo." was the first thing she heard this woman say.

"Yo momma." What? It was the first response that came to mind, and she was groggy as could be. Wait. Wasn't she dead? With a sharp intake of breath, the young woman sat up, and black curls became shockingly pink. The tanned skin returned to a pale, creamy white, and her chest grew a bit. Duplika didn't notice, as this was an unconcious change for her, one she kept in her mind always.
"What the hell happened to me? I was dead. Wasn't I dead?" She could remember so clearly, the feeling of the cold steel in her chest, the chill that covered her body as she languidly drifted from the land of the living. A shudder wracked her body, and she wrapped her arms around herself. Two things happened at once. The orb fell out of her cleavage, and the chain and charm tumbled down into her vision.
Seeing the orb snapped her back a bit, and her green eyes went from confused to furious in a heartbeat. "Alright. I want to know what is going on."

"Many different things are going on. Your bra stuffings are falling out, and you're talking to a drunk who hasn't had alcohol in about 6 hours. Be happy I'm sober cause if I weren't your head would no longer be connected to your body for bringing up my parents."
Dartie cracked her neck a few times and looked at the other with a more trained eye. "As for what happened to you, yes you died. You died because someone, somewhere, wanted you to become a guardian to a reborn deity from some other universe. Why you? Hell if I know. No one knows. For all we know there could be a giant wheel with pictures of all the people who reside on gaia's pictures on it and whoever it lands on is killed to become a guardian. All we do know is you died, you got bonded with a spirit of a dead deity from this other universe, and then they sent you back to your all fixed up body." Dartsmoore wasn't the best person to have explaining things. She would ramble on a lot unless asked specific questions about things she actually knew about. Which hopefully Dupli had questions about.

"Oh go cry me a river. Or go drink yourself into one." She was definitely irritable. She had died, and now she was in who knows where with this...girl? who wanted who knows what from her.
Though she had GREAT hair. Dupli looked intently at it, wondering if she could pull off a change like that. It would be interesting to try, but not at the moment. She really should stay focused. Scatterbrains never got you anywhere.
Really, she only caught the last part. "Dead deity? Like...a god?" That sounded interesting. But why her? She was just a punky little changeling, that did what her Master and her brother told her. Of course, she was beautiful, and incredibly intelligent, and all-around wonderful.
But a deity?
"So. Since you seem to know everything, which deity decided to fasten itself to my rather shapely a**? And what the heck am I supposed to do about it?"

"I'd love to but I'm on guardian duty and the captain b***h a** says that if I drink on duty she'll cut off my supply and that'd really suck." Dartie mumbled.
"Yes a god. or goddess. Depends. They used to rule this universe called Tison-that place I'm from-and one of them went bad and killed the rest of them. Someone found out the others had to be reborn to keep him from making the place go to hell in a handbasket so people from gaia or this ship are somehow chosen to be guardians."
"Hold out the funky thing on your neck and I'll see if I know the symbol from anywhere. A lot of the gods had symbols but not all of the symbols are used as the relics. The soul of your deity is in that relic. You can't take the chain off and you cant' really avoid what's gonna happen. In 2 days just about you're supposed to have some sort of funky dream where you float above your body and see a door and when you go through the door you see a kinda lifeless figure and when you touch it it becomes a baby and the relic goes away. So um.........I'd say over the next two days you're gonna want to be getting ready for a kid."

"Oh that must blow. I feel bad for you. Demetrius is the same way. He hates when I space out or try to mess around with him when I'm supposed to be working. He's such a stiff." But there she was, smiling again. The girl really was hopeless.
"Tison hm? I'll have to remember to look it up. There's so many systems out there, that I forget them all sometimes. Not really important to remember them, except the ones that have a bounty on my head. It's such a pretty head, don't you think?"
And she could really use a mirror. Really, this place looked advanced, but if they didn't have something so simple as a mirror, what was she to do? Really, this was all a face on her feelings. She had died. And was brought back. With a godling chained to her neck.
Wait. Did she just say a child?
"You just said a kid, right? Like...living, breathing infant thing?" Hurriedly, she held the chain and charm out. "Please tell me I didn't get some goody-goody goddess or something. She wouldn't do well with me."

Dartie leaned forward and grinned. "No.........you most definatly did not get a goody goody anything. I'd know that symbol anywhere. You have got the goddess of pranks and tricks and general mischeif. She's famous for her curses. I've read her spellbook. Prettty damn useful. I like the spell where anyone who sees the rear end of the person you put the spell on has the uncontrolable urge to kick them. It's great at parties when there's someone you don't like there cause you put that spell on them and then like everyone at the party kicks them and they usually land in something like the punch bowl." Dartie had a short attention span but a rather interesting memory for useless stuff. "I suggest hiding anything you don't want broken, thrown or gotten into. She's gonna be a hella interesting baby." there was that grin-the grin that said "I am a very very evil person and love it."

Oh that pleased her. Quite. This was something that Duplika had wanted for ages; something to piss Demetrius off! And it wasn't even her fault! That filled the young woman with a sick, delightful glee, and the smile she returned to Dartie was razor-sharp.
"I think I'm going to like this mission of mine. I think this kid will do me a world and a half of good. Who knows. She might even give me one or two." Apparently the deity part hadn't escaped her entire. Duplika knew what tools she had, and she knew how to use them. This would be no different.
Giggling almost like a child herself, the pink-haired changeling was filled with an entirely new burst of energy. She couldn't wait to get home and drop this bombshell into his lap. Oh man, the look on his face would be priceless!
"Well, give me a call if you ever want to get superbly drunk. I'll buy the drinks!" Laughing and all but dancing, she called up her own personal portal, and hopped through it.
This was one guardian who was incredibly pleased with her new role~!
