Relic? Huh? Oooh. It's shiny!

Nessylove
Another day, another damn mission. And it was early in the morning. Dupli hated early-morning missions. Not that Demetrius cared. Oh no, he had come in, bright as a bluejay, and hauled her naked butt out of bed. Bodily.

Well, she'd gotten him back for that. The changeling remembered very well his last horrid breakup, and had her face on before he could even get her all the way out of bed. That'd teach him. The b*****d.

It sounded easy enough though. Almost lazily, she brushed at the silver of her bodysuit. It would change with whatever shape she assumed, and would garb her accordingly. Useful, and quite fun to play around with.

"Demetrius, if it weren't from the Master, I'd kill you right now." But the slight smile didn't leave her lips as she thought of the darkly debonair 'brother' of hers.

Calling to mind a certain popular, annoying personage of this area, pink bobbing curls became sleek blonde hair to her waist, a bow holding some of it back. Azure eyes and a dress of a similar color spiraled down her figure, leaving her breathtakingly lovely. Only the chill in her gaze and the smirk on her lips showed her for what she truly was.

It was rumored that there was an Orb of power here, and she was sent to fetch. Like an errand girl. Well, she knew why that was, but she was still ticked! She would have been a princess, had things been different. Well.

It went smoothly enough. No one questioned her presence, indeed, she seemed to fit in. Measured responses befitting her assumed station, glowing smile, radiant eyes. Yes, she got in just fine.

Until she touched the orb.

She felt it. The silent, magical trigger tripped by her presence. It was almost if they knew she didn't belong. Abandoning all pretense, she snatched at the Orb, and turned to run.

She ran straight into the now-bladed door. As the steel ripped through her body, the blonde waves faded to black, unruly curls, and the cream skin tanned slightly. Smoky grey eyes were full of pain as Duplika Range fell to the floor, dying slowly.

Her only thought as she took her last breaths, were how upset Demetrius would be with her. Oh dear.

[Dg]
However, Demetrius would only find out about this incident when and if Dupli told him. For it had not been her touch that had tripped the system. It was another power that she had never known of. The orb was placed onto her person, in the way she'd been planning to carry it. Though this was done just as soon as her body-with the orb- was removed from this place magically and the traps cleaned and reset. When someone came to check on the orb they were going to be pretty surprised.

Repairing the body was a bigger job then usual. There were many puncture wounds and a ton of blood to clean up and replace. Though the task was done as per usual and a golden chain was placed around the woman's neck-a chain that would later hold a relic with the soul of a reborn god in it.

The soul and body had to go to separate places now. The body, left on a bed on the Tison Space Ship the Samadueanna, and the soul taken far away to a realm where the souls of deceased Tison deities resided.

Duplika's body was left there as a spirit let one of the ship's main staff-the tactician and assassin, Charlene Dartsmoore-know that there was a new guardian to inform of her duties. Also a file with information on Dupli with a photo of her natural form appeared on the ship's more private computers. Only members of the staff could use this part of the computer system and Dartie made sure to pick up one of the palm pilot like mini computers with the woman's specific information up on it. That way she could read up on her before she did the informing. Handy thing to do.

The woman's soul on the other hand was engaged in something she nor the spirit who chose her, would ever remember. When the guardian soul was brought into the realm a spirit of one of the deities was drawn to it for some reason and the two souls bonded. When Duplika's soul was sent back to her body, the newly bonded soul was taken with her-going into a newly appeared relic when she went back into her body. Now the woman was able to wake up, able to feel once again. There was no pain but there was the feeling of the relic on her neck and the orb in her shirt.

And standing at the edge of her bed, clad in leather and metal, was a woman with a very very odd hairstyle, waiting for her to wake up so she could get to explaining. "Yo." was the first thing she heard this woman say.

Nessylove
"Yo momma." What? It was the first response that came to mind, and she was groggy as could be. Wait. Wasn't she dead? With a sharp intake of breath, the young woman sat up, and black curls became shockingly pink. The tanned skin returned to a pale, creamy white, and her chest grew a bit. Duplika didn't notice, as this was an unconcious change for her, one she kept in her mind always.

"What the hell happened to me? I was dead. Wasn't I dead?" She could remember so clearly, the feeling of the cold steel in her chest, the chill that covered her body as she languidly drifted from the land of the living. A shudder wracked her body, and she wrapped her arms around herself. Two things happened at once. The orb fell out of her cleavage, and the chain and charm tumbled down into her vision.

Seeing the orb snapped her back a bit, and her green eyes went from confused to furious in a heartbeat. "Alright. I want to know what is going on."

[Dg]
"Many different things are going on. Your bra stuffings are falling out, and you're talking to a drunk who hasn't had alcohol in about 6 hours. Be happy I'm sober cause if I weren't your head would no longer be connected to your body for bringing up my parents."

Dartie cracked her neck a few times and looked at the other with a more trained eye. "As for what happened to you, yes you died. You died because someone, somewhere, wanted you to become a guardian to a reborn deity from some other universe. Why you? Hell if I know. No one knows. For all we know there could be a giant wheel with pictures of all the people who reside on gaia's pictures on it and whoever it lands on is killed to become a guardian. All we do know is you died, you got bonded with a spirit of a dead deity from this other universe, and then they sent you back to your all fixed up body." Dartsmoore wasn't the best person to have explaining things. She would ramble on a lot unless asked specific questions about things she actually knew about. Which hopefully Dupli had questions about.

Nessylove
"Oh go cry me a river. Or go drink yourself into one." She was definitely irritable. She had died, and now she was in who knows where with this...girl? who wanted who knows what from her.

Though she had GREAT hair. Dupli looked intently at it, wondering if she could pull off a change like that. It would be interesting to try, but not at the moment. She really should stay focused. Scatterbrains never got you anywhere.

Really, she only caught the last part. "Dead deity? Like...a god?" That sounded interesting. But why her? She was just a punky little changeling, that did what her Master and her brother told her. Of course, she was beautiful, and incredibly intelligent, and all-around wonderful.

But a deity?

"So. Since you seem to know everything, which deity decided to fasten itself to my rather shapely a**? And what the heck am I supposed to do about it?"

[Dg]
"I'd love to but I'm on guardian duty and the captain b***h a** says that if I drink on duty she'll cut off my supply and that'd really suck." Dartie mumbled.

"Yes a god. or goddess. Depends. They used to rule this universe called Tison-that place I'm from-and one of them went bad and killed the rest of them. Someone found out the others had to be reborn to keep him from making the place go to hell in a handbasket so people from gaia or this ship are somehow chosen to be guardians."

"Hold out the funky thing on your neck and I'll see if I know the symbol from anywhere. A lot of the gods had symbols but not all of the symbols are used as the relics. The soul of your deity is in that relic. You can't take the chain off and you cant' really avoid what's gonna happen. In 2 days just about you're supposed to have some sort of funky dream where you float above your body and see a door and when you go through the door you see a kinda lifeless figure and when you touch it it becomes a baby and the relic goes away. So um.........I'd say over the next two days you're gonna want to be getting ready for a kid."

Nessylove
"Oh that must blow. I feel bad for you. Demetrius is the same way. He hates when I space out or try to mess around with him when I'm supposed to be working. He's such a stiff." But there she was, smiling again. The girl really was hopeless.

"Tison hm? I'll have to remember to look it up. There's so many systems out there, that I forget them all sometimes. Not really important to remember them, except the ones that have a bounty on my head. It's such a pretty head, don't you think?"

And she could really use a mirror. Really, this place looked advanced, but if they didn't have something so simple as a mirror, what was she to do? Really, this was all a face on her feelings. She had died. And was brought back. With a godling chained to her neck.

Wait. Did she just say a child?

"You just said a kid, right? Like...living, breathing infant thing?" Hurriedly, she held the chain and charm out. "Please tell me I didn't get some goody-goody goddess or something. She wouldn't do well with me."

[Dg]
Dartie leaned forward and grinned. "No.........you most definatly did not get a goody goody anything. I'd know that symbol anywhere. You have got the goddess of pranks and tricks and general mischeif. She's famous for her curses. I've read her spellbook. Prettty damn useful. I like the spell where anyone who sees the rear end of the person you put the spell on has the uncontrolable urge to kick them. It's great at parties when there's someone you don't like there cause you put that spell on them and then like everyone at the party kicks them and they usually land in something like the punch bowl." Dartie had a short attention span but a rather interesting memory for useless stuff. "I suggest hiding anything you don't want broken, thrown or gotten into. She's gonna be a hella interesting baby." there was that grin-the grin that said "I am a very very evil person and love it."

Nessylove
Oh that pleased her. Quite. This was something that Duplika had wanted for ages; something to piss Demetrius off! And it wasn't even her fault! That filled the young woman with a sick, delightful glee, and the smile she returned to Dartie was razor-sharp.

"I think I'm going to like this mission of mine. I think this kid will do me a world and a half of good. Who knows. She might even give me one or two." Apparently the deity part hadn't escaped her entire. Duplika knew what tools she had, and she knew how to use them. This would be no different.

Giggling almost like a child herself, the pink-haired changeling was filled with an entirely new burst of energy. She couldn't wait to get home and drop this bombshell into his lap. Oh man, the look on his face would be priceless!

"Well, give me a call if you ever want to get superbly drunk. I'll buy the drinks!" Laughing and all but dancing, she called up her own personal portal, and hopped through it.

This was one guardian who was incredibly pleased with her new role~!

Hay guess what I did? I DIED! :;

Fingering the shiny Relic around her neck, the cotton-candy haired woman hopped out of the portal in the main hall of their little palace. Well. It wasn't little, it was actually massive and crawling with Demetrius' lesser minions. Not many regarded her, but they did note to stay out of her way.

Like it or not, Duplika was a Power. And Powers were not fun when angry.

Though, honestly, it didn't look like much would upset her right now. If anyone had paid much attention, they would have seen her all but skipping down the hallway, curls bouncing to different lengths and styles as she moved. It was rare that she was THIS happy, and it probably hadn't happened since they'd taken this place over.

With a gleefully wicked giggle, Duplika threw open the door to what could only be called the throne room. Only it had a large table, a dual-dais, and her delightfully sexy brother was sitting at the head of it.

"Demi, I'm back! And you won't believe what happened!" Now her steps were measured, hair sleeking into a graceful collarbone-length sweep of pink hair as she stepped carelessly on one man's lap, then up on the table. As she walked towards the head, she kicked papers, glasses, and plates out of her way, making what could be called an unholy mess.

Stopping halfway, she smirked, raised one eyebrow in challenge, and with two fingers, pulled the glowing orb from her cleavage. The answering smirk from Demetrius only made her that much more daring, and with a seemingly-negligent gesture, sent it whizzing at his head like a bullet.

Not that it mattered. He caught it.

"Good to see you returned, but you certainly took your sweet time about it. Really Duplika, do you have to be so irresponsible?" Perfectly tanned skin stretched as he smirked, unruly black locks falling into hard-as-agate eyes. It was a normal look, and a normal response, from him.

Pouting oh-so-cutely, she fell perfectly into his lap, and his arms reflexively caught her, so that she was snuggled up, coy as you please. "Now Demi, that's the worst thing for you to say to me! And after I died, and all you can say is it took me too long?"

The squeak that she made when he dumped her on the floor and jumped out of his chair was really something. She hadn't known she could still MAKE that noise.

"Everyone. Out. Now." Though he did make sure to grab his sister by the hair so that she couldn't move. He had to hear her explanation for this, and it would probably end up being more than a little violent.

"Now tell me what the hell happened. And don't you dare play with me, I'm not in the mood." Indeed, he seemed angry. And real anger was rare. He was cold as ice. Hrm.

"Well, I got the orb. That was easy as you thought. Stupid people, they should know their princess was never that smart." She hoisted herself up onto the edge of the table, a foot on each arm of his chair, elbows on her knees, face in hands. "But something just didn't feel right. I wouldn't say I'm extraordinarily clairvoyant, but I know when stuff doesn't feel kosher."

Sitting up, her arms came around herself as she shivered and remembered the next part. "Something tripped their system. I didn't know what at the time, but I tried to get out there, and ended up with five blades in my torso." Her voice was quiet, and the tone was that of a little girl. "I died Demi. I was stone-cold dead."

She didn't even notice when she was pulled down and hugged by her brother, being held close. If she had, she might have been worried. He was never this affectionate. But then. She HAD been dead.

"I don't remember anything. Next thing I know, I woke up, and this Space Freak chick, with the most phallic hair I have EVER seen is standing over me. She tells me that the spirits of Tison, heard of it? No? Oh well, anyway, the spirits of the gods of Tison chose me as a guardian. We're going to have a baby soon!"

Hair springing back into jaunty curls, the green-eyed girl beamed up into the aghast face of her brother.

"A....a BABY?!"

A baby just for us! Oh Demi it'll be great! :;

Oh the look on his face. It was priceless. It would be forever affixed on the changeling's memory. She had finally gotten Demetrius to not thinking of anything but one little word she said.

Unfortunately, that word was baby.

"Mmhm. The chick with the overly phallic, yet cool hair told me that this was some sort of goddess living in a chain around my neck, and she'd turn into a baby. Isn't that great! And I made sure it wasn't some little goodie-goodie. This is a goddess of pranks! She'll be great fun, Demi, really."

Sometimes, Duplika was almost childish in trying to please her brother. They were twins, but he was always the dominant one, and she would do anything to please, or enrage, him.

Standing up, and brushing off her bottom, the pink-haired girl smiled charmingly. "It will be nice, won't it?" She snapped her fingers in front of his face, sure to get his attention.

It worked perfectly, and he snagged her wrist, twisting her arm behind her back. "It will be awful. Take that thing off this instant." Using his free hand, he grabbed the charm, and yanked on the chain. He had intended it to break.

Remembering what Dartie said, she screamed in pain. "No no no! It won't come off, stoppit, you'll decapitate me!" She could barely get it out, the chain was sawing into her skin, and she knew it would be raw later. Hell, she was surprised she wasn't bleeding.

Kicking him painfully in the shin, she whirled away and slapped him soundly. Of course, he slapped her back, but just as a reflex. It was a key note of their relationship, especially when angry.

"Listen to me once in awhile. I am not your underling, I am not stupid, and I am not going to submit always! I let you run things, and delegate, but the Master will listen to me if I were to tell him how you treat me." And she would. It was her worst threat. They were supposed to work in tandem, not with him as her superior.

Turning on her heel, she strode from the hall. Fine. She'd take care of the girl on her own.

The First Prank:;

Nessylove
This was thoroughly exhausting. Demetrius wasn't leaving her alone now, and kept trying to yank the damn necklace off. There was a permanent mark, or rather, there WOULD be one, had she not covered it up; on her neck where the chain was forcefully pulled.

Not even his sword would break the chain, and he chipped the strong metal in trying. And it was pissing her off. "That moron. I told him. But he doesn't listen to me no! Now I have to talk to the Master, and he'll notice!"

And he wouldn't be happy.

Sighing softly, Duplika lay down in bed, and closed her eyes, drifting to sleep much quicker than she had thought she would.

How nice....

[Dg]
As the woman drifted off, a strange dream began. Duplika floated above her body, in a spirit seeming form. She was obviously still sleeping, she could see that beneath her, but the relic around her neck was glowing and she was sure that she was floating here above her body. And ahead of her, was a strange large door, one she'd never seen before, had appeared on her wall. And the ghostly relic around her neck seemed to be drawing her to it.

Nessylove
Was she dead again? No...she definitely felt the pull of her body behind her. This didn't hurt, but was weightless at the same time her body pulled. No, this was much different than the last time.

Only...curses. Her hair was black, and her skin the dark color she was born with. Apparently her shape-shifting didn't hold in the spirit world!

Sighing, she felt the warm glow of the doorway, and the corner of her lips tilted up. Well. As long as she was here.

Turning away from her warm, slumbering body, Duplika entered the glowing door.

[Dg]
On the other side was a strange room. The floor was light blue with lovely paintings on it and there were MC Escher esque stairs all over. The walls-that didn't seem connected to the floor-were rainbow. There was a kitchen on the ceiling and laying on the black and white tiled "floor" of that kitchen was a woman, whose body didn't seem to believe in gravity.

Her hair was long-at least the back was. The sides were feathery cut and her bangs were too but there were also curved face framing bangs and two big long curl like side strands. The woman's hair color was white with hot pink tips. She was short and thin with a spendexy top on her thin frame. It showed her lack of a check and it was black and white striped with a big red ladybug on the front. On top of her head was a pink and blue joker hat that had been tied to look like a bandana with bells hanging off the back. Instead of pants she wore an over sized puffy skirt with many ruffle. However this skirt didn't extend past her knees and had a giant bow and ribbons hanging from the back. She wore spiral patterned fishnets which seemed to have rainbow threads and she wore big clompy combat boots with sparkly adornments on the front of them. To complete the outfit was a kiss the cook apron that didn't go at all with the loud outfit. This was probably an outfit for show alone but it surely was interesting.

A broken boombox on the floor next to Dupli and a bunch of things that looked like chcoolate bugs which had fallen from an empty tray on the counter next to the dead woman seemed to indicate she'd been partying it up and baking before she died. Probably for a prank of some sort.

It took a trip up a few stairs for Dupli to reach the woman. It was odd to be standing on the ceiling but she was in ghost form so she was fine. The woman had a mark on her forhead-a gem made it obvious with a slice down the center of it. She'd been stabbed in the head. And the strange relic around Duplika's neck beckoned her to lay a hand on the woman.

Nessylove
Oh man did that look painful. She'd been stabbed in the chest. She knew. And this room was perhaps the coolest place she had ever been. Man if she could duplicate half of this effe...oooooh!

Her outfit was amazing. Simply amazing! Man, if this kid grew up to be anything like this girl it would be one hell of a party~! Giggling a bit girlishly, the young woman knelt down to the body, but was a bit hesitant to touch. After all...she was a goddess, right? I mean, there's no other reason she'd be here.

Right?

Lightly, the shape-shifter touched the wound on the girl's forehead, smiling softly as she felt the pull on her neck. Well, it wouldn't be so bad would it?

[Dg]
The body began to glow in a way that kept Duplika from seeing the woman. And the relic around her neck glowed too and seemed to shoot from her neck into the body causing it to shrink. When it was done shrinking to a smaller size the glow vanished. And there on the floor before her was a cute little baby girl, blinking with a huge grin on her face. That white hair, the feathery bangs, the longer back part, the pink tips, this was definately the goddess as a baby. Her ears were pointy but still soft and she definately looked snuggly and cheerful. Oooh what would Demi think when he saw this! All Dupli had to do was take the baby and find a way out. biggrin

Nessylove
Well that certainly wasn't a feeling Duplika was familiar with. It was almost...caring? Loving? Nah. That was what she had for Demetrius. Who was going to s**t a brick when he saw this little girl~! Her hair was very amazing, and Dupli wholeheartedly approved.

"Well cutie, you're mine now. I hope you behave, because Demi isn't going to be very pleased. Well. He won't, but I sure am!" Giggling like a bubble, the young woman picked up her godly baby, cuddling her close.

Seeing the left-behind apron, she swaddled the little girl close, and kissed her forehead. "I think I'll call you Austrailia. I heard of it once, somewhere, and it was always pretty. You don't want a name like mine. Trust me."

Thinking it would be as easy as calling out her portal, Duplika was incredibly shocked when her handy pool of darkness did not respond like it normally did. "Oh hell. Bloody hell. Remind me to yell at someone later, okay sweetcheeks?"

Somehow talking to the kidlet made it easier. Some company was better than none!

"Alright. If I were utterly insane, I would put the door..." on the floor! That sounded about right, and totally normal to the changeling. Fumbling around a bit, she found the outline, and beamed.

"See? I knew it would work! Maybe you're not so bad off, Aussiegirl!" Laughing again, she pulled herself up through the doorway, and back into her world.

[Dg]
It was lucky for Dupli that she'd picked up the child before searching for the door as the door only reappeared when the child was claimed. However the woman and baby made it through the door and were able to wake up in their own bodies. Time to tell Demi! biggrin
