DeArca took the bag of dust into his hand and stared into the flame. He had a wish, however, the last time he made a wish, he found what he was looking for...but it didn't turn out how he wanted it. Ash stood beside DeArca, staring into the neat fire as he poked DeArca's leg. DeArca looked down and gave a small smile. "I have to make a good wish this time! Something that might help us along..." He said, knealing down to reach Ash's level...sort of, and held a handful of dust.

I wish to find a way to free Illyana from the crystal she rests in... He thought, looking back at his wagon a moment and then turned forward to the flame, throwing the dust. Ash watched the glistening speckles enter the flame, hearing a crackling sound and then a flash of bright blue light as he hid behind DeArca's leg from the surprise. DeArca didn't turn away because his eyes were focused on the blue flame, seeing a small image inside of the flame. He saw Illyana smiling brightly at him, waving her hand as DeArca reached out. "Illyana..." He muttered and the flame died down to normal, its orange glow returning as DeArca sighed. We'll be together again, Illyana...I promise

Heather recieved the bag but instantly gave it to Amkia first, Kala wasn'told enough to know what was going on and she wasn't having the naughty toddler spilling it everywhere so it was Amkia's turn first.

Amkia took the bag and sighed, he threw in the dust and wished for his friends and sister to be happy, what he saw was Kala in his arms and it confused him greatly. He said nothing and gave it back to his mother, holding Kala briefly as she threw the dust in.

Heather threw in the dust and wished for happiness for Susa, she missed the girl greatly and what she saw were more of the vials that Susa and her sister had. Heather smiled and nodded before handing the bag to someone else and taking the hissing Kala from Amkia before sitting down, still not saying a word. The family were staying in the shadows today.

(Hope this is okay. :3 I couldn't picture Altaira seeing anything, nor Sindri actually understanding what she meant by 'wish'.)

As mischievous as he was, Sindri also had a tiny malevolent streak that dearly wanted to bat the bag of firedust out of Altaira' hand and straight into the neat little fire- just to stir things up. To make it burn wholey with some exotic colour. The thought of it made him growl softly, happily to himself where he lay as close to the flames as he could without singing his fur. Its warmth was cheering! Their bellies were full. No threats about, no enemies. Why couldn't they just have fun? Maybe they'd laugh if he knocked the bag in. Maybe they'd rage and he could have a merry chase...

"Too close to the heat, firestarter." Still purring, he looked up when he felt his mother stroke across his heated fur before she picked him up. He was heavy, and Alt only moved him back a little bit where she felt more comfortable about the proximity of the fire. Then she knelt down next to him. He could not throw dust as he was a bobcat but they were a family, the pair of them - unknowing of Thuban yet - so they'd wish together. Alt picked up one tawny paw and place it messily on top of the small pile of dust in her own palm.

"Wish, dear imp, wish. Looks like we're staying for now."

The sparks flared up a bright blue, the hot-cold blue usually found at the base of the hottest flames. Sindri saw shoes. Little shoes. Little shoes cast by the side of a road. Though why he could not imagine why anyone wore such things. The idea of encasing his feet was as alien to him as pulling out his whiskers. He used his claws for so much and balanced on those agile toes so often...why would he ever care to be shod like a mule in soft leather slips like his mother?

Altaira saw nothing, which surprised her greatly, and wished: I wish this small family happiness and luck in the days ahead...that Sindri will be /safe/ and well, and I continue to find friendship and family. With a sigh, she passed the bag on.

Tamlin took up the bag next, this was her first time ever being welcomed into a family aside from her birth. she stood up squared her small shoulders and gave an impish smile ready to introduce herself to everyone and re-acquaint herself with the meiji.

"Hello all and thank you for being so kind and letting me join your caravan, My name is Tamlin Maire Sorcha I'm 19, from Ireland originally but I've been traveling the mainland for most of my life with my family, we are traveling musicians and acrobats. Thank you again for your kindness."

she had a fair idea of the process after watching the other members of her soon to be family. she enjoyed that idea, it had been too long since she had been a member of a family. she realized that that was her wish. she reached into the bag she grasped a small handful of the dust and scattered it on the fire as she sent her wish to the meiji "i wish for a family, my own family." the fire happily licked up the powder and turned a deep, comforting burgundy which welcomed Tamlin as she looked into it.

there was a little girl who resembled her little sister, but not exactly. she was spinning in an elaborate dance with the fire swirling around her. then the vision spun back into the normal orange and red fire.

Tamlin stared bemused into the now blank fire, it was an odd vision but it enthralled her and made her feel so warm and happy. who was that little girl, her dance was so captivating yet she was so small and innocent.

she passed along the bag and sat back down thinking about what was shown her.

“Welcome Tamlin” Mirela spoke in soft greeting, a warm smile gracing her features as she reached out to take the bag from her new sister. Reaching into the bag and securing herself a handful of the firedust, the young gypsy passed the bag on as she mulled over the wish with which to beseech the flames.

I wish for the safety of my son in the face of what awaits him to the south, Mirela wished with the entirety of her being, throwing the dust into the flames.

In response to the particles the flames rose high, dancing with a mix of fiery hues, and in their midst a vision formed.

Horse-like hooves struggled over the soft and murky soil of what appeared to be marshes. If the steps were hurried, fearful, or merely awkward could not be discerned, but they continued to move relentlessly across the landscape. Suddenly the hoofed feet paused, turning back the way that had come. In the same instant a sharp cry filled the air; the emotion indecipherable as it was soon drowned out by the crackling of the flames; the vision receding.

Frowning, Mirela held her son closer. The scene within the flames had been cryptic, and had left the young mother with only more questions.

Baptiste receives the bag next, and he looks into it dubiously. It's just dust. To...put off flinging some dust in the flame for the sake of doing as Romans do, he looks around at the assembled group. It'd gotten much bigger, he notices. He must've tuned out at some point.
"Bonjour," he begins with a polite head-nod. "My name is Baptiste Kirpatsh. I am from...far away. I've always been a gypsy, though. My wagon is Mossy Charm, and I am so very flattered to be joining a real caravan again after so long." That'd do.
Shrugging inwardly, Baptiste takes a small handful of the dust and flings it into the fire. I wish for passion.
The fire flares just for him and turns a deep, rich purple. Before his eyes, shapes come into the fire. It's a dimly-lit wagon, and two figures lie in rumpled bedclothes, fingers entwined.
And then the vision fades and he passes the bag to the next person.

Caroline gets the bag of wishdust next, and she knows what to do instantly. She smiles at the newcomers, then joyously scoops a handful of dust and pours it into the flames.
I wish for Rojiza to be happy again.
The flames roar and turn a searing yellow-pink (fire can be whatever color it bloody wants, evidently). Caroline now sees her vision. It's a young woman with her back turned. She has long, dark hair. She holds an infant in her arms.

Rojiza takes the bag from her mother. She remembers doing this once before. She'd wished for a voice, but hadn't gotten it yet. She decides against wishing for a voice again, because the finicky meij might look unkindly upon double-wishing. And she didn't want the powers that be to be angry with her. She looks at her handful of dust thoughtfully before catapulting it with her paw-like hand into the flames.
I wish for...a purpose.
The fire crackles and becomes a lovely shade of bright red. Rojiza's vision appears, but it isn't clear at all. It's shadows and movement and light and implied sound. But the scene seems to be cheerful. It fades and Ro's lips twitch into a brief smile before she passes the bag on.

Thuban had hung back when Tamlin had gone forward, since he was just a vistor and she'd left him behind to make her wish. He watched from a way away, studying the group. From the distance, he couldn't make out his sister kneeling with her bobcat-son...but he did spot Wind Wheels.

Holding his near-empty bag so it couldn't make a noise as he walked and avoiding the gypsies, he snuck around to the painted cart as swiftly and as unnoticabley as possible. Almost like a theif though the canvas door didn't even have a lock for him to pick. Only Tamlin knew he'd come to observe, after all - maybe no one would notice him going in.

Valelldia put her fingers to a piece of dark coal that she had been holding in the folds of her skirts. It had appeared in the middle of her scrying bowl the week before, when the gibbous moon had given her a vision. It was not the best thing to have seen. She sighed. So few things were well and happy in her eyes these days. She would have to speak to Silver. Soon.

"Aisrhan, Rojiza, and Anezka? Would you please come forward?"

Rojiza's heart jolts. Her? For what? She hadn't done anything. Whatever this was, she'd meet it head-on. She steps forward, head high, furry hands clasped tightly behind her. She draws nearer to the wagon-mother. Her eyes hold a question: Yes?
Her eyes flick around, looking for her friends.

Caroline's breath catches in her throat. She puts a hand to her thick neck as her daughter goes forward to meet Valelldia. Could it be her time? Nay, best not to hope for big things--she'd only be disappointed in the end.
Caroline's lips curl into a smile as Rojiza juts her chin out, almost defiantly. She'd taken after her mother, then. Ro's moods had been so inconsistent lately. First she'd be meek and quiet, then suddenly full of passion.
She shakes her head, still smiling with pride at her young girl.

The three came forward, and Valelldia looked at them each in turn. It was the soft-furred, silent child that her eyes hit upon first. Yes- it seemed right. She would be first.

"Rojiza, would you please do me a favor? Would you pick someone in this assemblage who isn't your mother, and take their hands?"

Rojiza is struck odd by this request. She nods, signalling that she would, but she now has to think. This is obviously important, her squirrelly brain tells her, so who should she choose? The first person to come to mind is Anezka. But Ani seems to be in this thing too, so perhaps she should leave her alone.
And then it hits her. The choice is obvious.
She walks over to Kale and takes his hands, her brown eyes expressionless, but at the same time full of emotion. She looks back at Valelldia.

Silver sat cross-legged on her bed, mending her skirt which had gotten torn on their way out of the port. She had apparently gotten it caught on something, but couldn't remember for the life of her when it had happened.
She looked up now and again from her sewing to watch her children; they were playing hide-and-seek, though Aisrhan was only pretending she couldn't see Khevashi crawling on all fours behind one of the narrow table legs. Aisrhan eventually "caught" him and he instantly errupted into rhaspy, croaking giggles that very much reminded Silver of the ominously beautiful bird he once was.

She attempted to ignore Valelldia's summoning... at least for a few minutes. She wanted to stay with her children as they played innocently on the large green rug that covered her wagon's floor. Nothing and no one could harm them while they were there in Weathered Melody with her. So she sewed, and the children played, though Aisrhan continuously looked up at her mother to see if she'd noticed. She herself had grimaced momentarily when the meij reached her. It was tainted with the Wagon Mother's signature and she was still a tad wary of the woman.
Eventually, Silver's very soul began to ache - for the fire, for the music, for the dancing, for her family, old and new- and she could stand it no longer. What could happen to them at a wagon ordering anyway? Certainly nothing bad. Valelldia would never allow it. She put down her skirt and put away her box of notions. They would be late, but it would be alright. She gathered Ais and Khevashi and ushered them outside, never seeing the look of disappointment and irritation in Aisrhan's glowing eyes. The girl fidgeted with the ring that her mother had given her distractedly as they made their way toward the fire.

They arrived at the fireside just in time to hear Val call three of the oldest girls forward, Aisrhan included. Ais's eyes widened and the look she gave her mother held a twinge of fear. "Go on, honey, I'm sure it's nothing," Silver told her as Rojiza reached out and grabbed Kale's hand. "Look, Rojiza's out there too. You'll be fine," though Silver couldn't help but wonder what was happening herself. Asirhan slowly slithered her way to the center of the group to where Val, Ro, and now Kale were standing, fidgeting with her ring the whole while.

"Then he shall be responsible for you, when the DarHeld comes to pass." Valelldia said, nodding, her voice sweet and sage, for all it's mystery. She was an infuriating creature for the sake of her words, always veiled in so many meanings- but there were few who could hate the woman. There was just something about her which suggested... that she told not of the future for the sake of her own gain, but rather, for the givings of her wagon family. She only wanted to protect them.

With that, the meij accepted the responsibility passure, and bathed the squirrel-girl in a red and gold light. Little sunburst blots of green tore through the meij-light veil, followed by branches of green that snaked around the curtain like the delicate paintings on a silk screen.

When the light cleared, she was... what she was.

"And for you, Aisrhan, I have a gift for you and your mother. Will you come to receive it?" She said it in a way that sounded as if she were apologizing. Her hands were folded at her waist. "Also, there is a gift that is rather pressing for the to-be mother... for Irina, will you come as well? There are many more that need to be blessed with gifts. These two... they are the first."

Irina watched Ro's transformation in awe, and Kal clutched her leg as she too watched the events of the ceremony unfold. The squirrel girl was no longer a mere child, but a teenager. "Look Kal!" she exclaimed, pointing Ro out to her daughter, who was already staring at her intently. "One day you'll be big like that too!"

As Val called Irina forward along with Aisrhan and Silver, she grabbed Kal from the ground and hoisted her up on one hip, walking forward slowly as Kal clung to her arm, claws indenting her skin just a little bit. "Hello Val," she said, greeting the wagonmother with a wave of her other hand and a slight smile.

Caroline very nearly faints at the sight of her precious daughter being enfolded by the Meij. She's growing. And as her now-grown-up little girl emerges from the red-gold light, Caroline has to lean on whoever is next to her in order to not fall over. "Rojiza Fidelia," she breathes. "Oh, niña mía..."
As Rojiza walks back over to her mother, she smiles a beautiful, mature smile. Caroline hugs her suddenly, and tightly. "Eres preciosa," she murmurs into her daughter's ear.

Rojiza herself is rather...disoriented by suddenly being a foot taller. She looks down at herself and her face splits into a grin. She feels like dancing! She wants to laugh and cry and sing all at once. She doesn't try to talk yet. She doesn't want to spoil the beautiful moment. She walks back over to her mother, who hugs her. She embraces back, finding it odd to be on the same level as Caroline. She glances toward Kale, to see if he'd reacted at all.
