Mkimya's ears flicked up and she stood up again. She grinned widely forgetting completly what her mother just said, though she would probably remember it again later.
"Darn, you caught me again," Mkimya giggled. "Oh! Oh! Mommy! Did you meet Kibaraka! He's the hare I met the other day!"
The fawn seemed excited. If fact, she was.
Koi n looked to the cheerful fawn. "So, this is your daughter, eh?" he asked peering at the small fawn. Koin grinned and chuckled. "I don't think she heard anything.

"That hare?" she snorted as Kibaraka emerged from the grass, and pressed instinctively against Mkimya's leg.
"Charmed," he said, plainly, and Chachili narrowed her eyes. She was supportive of her daughter's new hare friend - hares, she knew, did make good buddies - but she couldn't help but feel uncomfortable around this guy. Ignoring the bunny, she shook away the thought, and pushed Mkimya forward to Koin with her nose.
"Isn't she beautiful?" Chachili nudged her daughter's muzzle, "She has a sister, too, although Pura's probably asleep right now. That, or wandering off. This girl's quite the wanderer, too, Koin. I wouldn't be surprised if she went her own way, just like your little ones."
She looked at her daughter. She was growing bigger now, likewise with Pura. Soon, it could be time for the girls to leave for the world... but still, she wanted to stay close to her babies. Not always together, but always close. The love of a mother for her children was strong.
With a warm smile, she bent close to Koin and gave a worried whisper in his ear.
"Hear anything? I... hope not."

Mkimya giggled and nipped at Kibaraka's ear as he pressed against her. Though, when she was nudged foreward, she tripped. "Whoops," Hshe said skittering to stand up.
"She is adorable," Koin said with a smile.
"Hear anything? I... hope not."
"Can't said for sure," he mumbled back with a smile to fool the young ones.

"Well, Koin... it's been wonderful seeing you again," the grey klipspringer brushed the wild dog's side affectionately, with a humming sound that signified joy, "We must catch up sometime again, to talk things over. Hopefully our next meeting will be much... lighter."
She hoped it would be. Talking about subjects such as abandonment and loss really took it's toll on the poor mother. In fact, she'd felt so grevious before, that she wondered how she could stand putting on such a happy face in front of her daughter.
"Well, then," she dipped her head respectfully, and looked into Koin's eyes, "We'll have to meet again. Feel free to stop by the High Grass at any time, you're always welcome here."

Koin bowed his head respectfully as well. "Alright. I'll stop by soon," he said.
He nipped at Chachili's ear affectionatly and patted Mkimya on the head, along with the little hare. "See you all later," he said trotting back towards his home.
Mkimya blinked at she was patted on the head. Despite that, she giggled; he tail wagging like her brother's.

"Bye, Koin," Chachili called out, a distant look in her eyes. In a way, she was sorry to see her friend leave... but then, she looked to her daughter. Mkimya was clever. Mkimya was smart. And Chachili suspected something.
"Hare, I apprechiate you being my daughter's friend, but-" she paused, "We need time alone."
Kibaraka paused, then nodded.
"I understand. I'll leave you two alone, then. Well, farewell, Mkimya. See you when I see you next," with that, he gave her a longing look, and darted into the grass.
Chachili relaxed. He was gone... and now, it was time for some mother-daughter time. She dropped to her child's eye-line, and looked her sternly in the eye.
"Mkimya... how much did you hear?"
"How much did you hear?"

"Byebye, Kibaraka!" She said and tilted her head at her mother.
When her mother looked into her eyes, she adverted her gaze and felt guilty. "... Everything..." she said. "I heard everything you said Mommy. I didn't mean to..." she said. She wouldn't lie.
She couldn't lie to her mother. She bit her bottom lip, hoping she wasn't in trouble.

Chachili pressed against her daughter. Hard.
"Don't be scared," she said, licking her daughter's ear, "I'm not angry. If anything, you should be angry at me. But... I need to tell you something."
There was a silence, and a cold wind blew through. It made everything all the more eerie, now that Koin and Kibaraka had taken their leave. Chachili mustered all her courage, and spoke.
"Kukuru is your brother. So is Makuu, of whom you haven't yet met. But, if you ever see Kukuru, for I know you're in contact with him - " she stopped, and didn't say anything for a few more minutes. That silence again. It was so awful, so full of grief that it almost overwhelmed her.
"... you -" she choked on the words, trembling, "- you mustn't tell him. You mustn't tell him that you are brother and sister, Mkimya. Otherwise, it'll come after you. The dark lion from my nightmares. And... I can't loose any of you. For now, lie low... but in the future, maybe, there's hope."
She brushed her muzzle against her daughter's pelt. It was like smooth, purple velvet, with a hint of Chachili's own grey fur. Mkimya reminded her so much of herself as a fawn. Curious, young and inquistive.
"Don't tell Pura of any of this. I know you twins are close, and connected... but... it's a secret. Please, Mkimya. Please."

"It's okay Mommy," Mkimya said licking her mother right below her eye. "I won't tell them if it means that much to you."
She didn't want to make her mother upset. She didn't like when her mommy was scared of sad. It made her sad, too.
She tilted her head and smiled while wagging her tail. "I'll keept is a secret..."

Chachili noticed her daughter's tail wag, and at once her stomach dropped. She felt sick with guilt - where else could Mkimya have learnt such a canine habbit but from one of her sons?
"I'm sorry," and as she said this, her throat thrummed, in a way that spoke of affection for her daughter, "I'm sorry for keeping this from you. From the both of you. But please, let's forget about it. At least for tonight. Come, it's time for sleep."
She gave Mkimya a small push on the rump, using her head.
"Come on," she said, leading the way to the High Grass, "Let's go home."

"It's alright, Mommy," she then gave a firm nod and rubbed against her mother.
"Let's go! I'll race you!" She dashed past her mother to the place she called home.
