. . . where Riley OD's and wakes up in a rather unreal situation . . .
Sizzla
Riley's multi-colored, mohawked head drooped forward as he leaned back against dingy flowered wallpaper. His eyes were empty once again, but he felt so, so nice. As if he was floating on a cloud. All his problems were being washed away as a wave of pure serenity washed over him, taking all his cares away.
He slid down the wall, no longer able to keep himself standing, hitting the floor with a solid *thump*. He no longer felt the floor though. Instead he was floating, flying -- as high as a kite.
Getting to the run-down house had been the hard part, but once he'd arrived, the rest was easy. It was ritual. He'd bought the packet of white powder from a man with dark, sunken eyes -- a man who had never tried to get clean, but somehow had never managed to OD.
As money changed hands, Riley eyed the packet greedily, ready to shoot the drug directly into his bloodstream. The sooner, the better.
He'd just gotten out of rehab.
He'd been given another chance.
But of course, an addict is an addict. Some say addicts never change.
But Riley was about to be given a second chance...A way to change.
As he slipped into unconsciousness, there was no one there to see him slumped over, syringe still danging from one arm.
He felt the warmth of a bright, white light that seemed ever so welcoming, and he quickly headed toward it. He was ready to escape -- to float forever.
As soon as he reached it, Riley stopped breathing.

Now the spirits which had been in charge of killing guardians so that they could be bonded with their charges hadn't planned on this being how Riley would die. In fact they'd been planning on having someone attack him to get his drugs at a later time. But the man's drug overdosing was perfectly timed and well a spirit takes whatever chance they can get.
Vanishing his body from the scene they disposed of the disgusting needle and repaired his insides of the damage the drugs had done. His soul was loose in his body and was easily removed and taken to be bonded wtih the deity he'd be guarding. His body, now fixed, was placed on the Samadueanna with a leather cord around it's neck and a dirty coin on the cord. One deity, one that had been forced to go from one home to another, had lost it's bond with it's previous guardian and was ready to take on a new one. Riley was ready for his god so the two were paired together. Little did he know that if he screwed up being guardian of this deity, the deity would die.
When the bonding was complete the souls were sent to their respective locations. The deity to the coin and the man to the body. He was now allowed to wake up.......and when he did he found himself face to face with a small cheerful little boy of about 7.

Riley had enjoyed every moment of his death, floating listlessly through whiteness peacefully and happily. To him, life hadn't been worth living...
But abruptly, the dream began to fade, and darkness crept into the corners of his dream, eventually taking over entirely. The once white and serene world had now become darker, as if he were merely sleeping.
The young man sat up abruptly and gasped for breath as life returned to his body. It was a breath like Riley had never taken before. A deep, cleansing breath...the breath of a non-drug user and a non-smoker. Somehow, he felt...clean. Refreshed. Like a brand new person.
What had happened? Had he died and then returned to life? Why did he feel so good?
Slowly, one eye flickered open, and then another, and he saw someone standing in front of him. It was a small child. A boy of less than ten years old, he assumed. Looking around, he saw nothing familiar, besides his dingy pants and ripped black leather jacket with patches sewn on haphazardly. "What happened?" he asked, hoping the boy could give him some useful information. "I thought I was dead."

"You were. But now you are not." the boy said with a nod. He was getting much more used to this. "However the price of you not being dead is that you are going to have to kiss your life as you know it goodbye and say hallo to being a father and a responsible individual."

Riley just stared at the boy, hardly blinking as his eyes went wide as saucers and his jaw dropped. He was alive again. How had...He had so many questions.
The words 'father' and 'responsible individual' didn't ring a bell in Riley's mind. He'd never wanted to be either of those things, and he sure as hell wasn't planning on doing it now.
"What the ******** are you talking about? Aren't you a kid? How do you know such big words?" He rolled his eyes at the boy, giving him a sarcastic 'humph' sound. He began to stand up, and was overwhelmed with the good feeling his body had. He wanted to run and jump and ... get the hell out of dodge!
He was ready to run from responsibility. No questions asked.

"Don't say that word. It's a bad word. Dartie will wash your mouth out with soap for saying it." the boy warned. "And Mommy taught me my words. She said if I was good and told guardians about their jobs I'd get a treat. So I'm telling you about your job. In 2 days the magic necklace you're wearking that you can't take off will turn into a baby." he told the man with a grin.

Riley looked down and saw the coin hanging from the leather cord around his neck, and couldn't help but wonder how it had gotten there.
"Hey kid, I'm an adult. I can say and do WHATEVER I want," he said, making sure to emphasize "whatever". "Well, your Mom sure taught you some big words. You must be a quick learner."
It was then that he came back to the pressing subject at hand--a baby. From a necklace. It was the most ridiculous thing he'd ever heard. "Yeah, right! You've gotta be kidding! No baby can just come out of a necklace. They're born out of their mother's womb or whatever...And I have no womb, that's for certain." He didn't bother checking to make sure his manly parts were still intact. He already knew they were just fine.

"Not on Mommy's ship you can't." he said stubbornly. Even Steve got his mouth washed out if he used dirty language on this ship. Or so he'd heard. "And I came from a necklace." he said picking up a PDA type thing and poking it to make it show his information.
The image of a small flame necklace next to a picture of the boy headed a profile.
Name: Diyaka Remika
Stage: Child
Guardian: Rouge Remika
Occupation: Guardian Duty and being a nussance

Wait...did this kid just say 'Mommy's Ship?' Where was he?
"Hold on a second," Riley said, taking a look at the PDA that the kid had put into view. "You came from a necklace? How did you get INTO the necklace exactly?" He paused and asked his other, more important question--well, it was more important to him at that very moment at least. "And can you please tell me where I am? You said something about a ship? I don't feel the least bit of rocking...Is this a cruise ship or something?"
The thought of being on a cruise was a pleasant one...he hoped that the boy would tell him he was merely on vacation--with his new necklace baby. Or something.

"My soul was in the necklace and mommy had to go to a special place in a dream to get my body back." he said with a nod. "And it's a space ship." The boy said, pointing out the window.
Out said window was a view of the Earth, and the stars. They seemed to be nearing the planet but searching for somewhere.

He didn't even have time to react to what the little boy had said. A reaction in the core of his brain made him jump up from the floor and move as quickly as he could to the window, where his mouth gaped yet again as he saw the Earth floating beneath him. It was a sight to behold, and as he turned slowly back to the boy, he couldn't help but ask...
"You live in space?" It was just another item to add to his list of strange (and not to mention, CRAZY) things that were happening him today.
He turned back to the window again, to make sure that he wasn't imagining things, and again, saw only inky blackness and stars brighter than any he'd ever seen. After a minute or two, he picked up his jaw and addressed the boy again. "Your soul was in a necklace? How did you get caught there? Or do you not remember?" he paused. "And how did she get your body in a dream? Dreams...they're not real."
He had no idea what the kid would say next, but already it had been baffling thing after baffling thing.

"Yes. In the galaxy called Tison. I was a god there once. But something bad happened to me so I was deaded for a while. But Mommy got deaded so that she could go and get my soul out of the soul realm and bring it back. It had to stay in the necklace to get used to being alive again." he said with a nod. "You get the body because the dream takes you to another plain."

Riley was still skeptical -- but this kid hadn't told a lie yet. Well, unless this was all a very real and elaborate dream...
Running one hand up a tattooed forearm, Riley cocked his head to one side to consider this boy's story. He was a god? Well, that sure was interesting. Riley didn't believe in god...or any god for that matter.
"So I don't have to die again, right? I just have to go get this kid in a dream?"

"nope. no more dying. After that they just grow when important stuff happens to them." Dia told him with a nod. Suddenly the PDA in his hand blinked saying that they'd reached their destination. The window outside showed them above a certain continent that Riley knew well. "Time to take you home. I"ll show you to the transporter room." and with that another guardian had recieved his charge.
