<********. Dragon.
The great big beast flew from Old Barton, black scales twinkling in the sun.
It expressed it's displeasure at sharing the sky with a mighty roar.

Disa took one look at the dragon and decided she didn't want to go for a ride on the stolen helicopter. Instead she pointed at the dragon.

"Oh, shits!"
He obviously didn't want to be sitting still when the dragon got close, and seeing as Disa chickened out at the sight of the thing it seemed he was on his own... well, no, Stryphe would probably want in on this. He loved this kind of stuff.
Without even closing the side door James jumped back into the seat and gunned the throttle. The blades sped up rapidly, creating the necessary lift to get the machine off of the ground and, well, let's face it... providing a pretty bad place for a pissed off dragon to try and bite.

((Does Mr. Brown know how to fly a helicopter, btw?
And is Stryphe offline (guessing from the last post)?))

R66-Y ((Does Mr. Brown know how to fly a helicopter, btw?)) (( I couldn't tell you. Mr. Black does. As for Stryphe, yes he's offline. We've been toting him around. I'm basically just leaving the option open for him being in there if he comes back while this is still happening. ))

The dragon took a holding position a ways away from the helicopter. Suspended mid-air, the beast opened it's jaws, and a stream of fire shot at the helicopter, ballooning out to cover the entire thing.

If it was at all possible in the time frame, James would pull back and away with the piloting stick on the chopper. With the propeller up to speed it would hopefully roll the vehicle away from the jet of flame as it rose into the air; attempting to spin the side with the door shut towards the flames to keep them from getting into the cab.
Again, if it were possible to get the chopper at such an angle fast enough, the downward thrust from the propeller should shoot a substantial blast of air into the path of the gout of flame.

Disa and the puppy dove for cover against the ledge of the fountain. She didn't want to be hit by dragon fire or debris if or when the chopper came down. Peeking over the top of the ledge, she looked up at the dragon. Dragon's always had weak points on the underbelly, right?

Indeed, the dragon was missing two scales on its underbelly. If Disa could actually see the missing scales from where she stood, she had incredible eyesight.
A bit of the flame made it through the rotors before James could pull up. Seeing that it wouldn't be getting any more flame through at that angle, it dived down, curving around to the other side of the square before taking to the air once again. It stayed up there this time, circling the helicopter, waiting for it to either land or rise higher.

Rising would take a little time... A roll like that would take a few moments to recover stability from. If things got too out of hand the helicopter could crash into a building. Within a minute, though, it would be able to straighten out and rise up to a level above the surrounding buildings; no longer being confined to the square surrounding the fountain for open air space.
Meanwhile, James was cussing up a storm in the pilot seat. Dragon attacks really made flying more stressful. It was like turbulence on steroids.

Disa couldn't see well enough from her current position so she needed higher ground. Higher, stable, non-flying ground. Well, it was a plaza, but there were buildings around the plaza, right? So if her fearless team leader kept the dragon low enough that he was within sight from a rooftop, she'd be fine, right? Well, one could hope.
Cue the running towards the tallest building on the outskirt of the plaza, with Fluffy in tow.

Continuing to circle, the dragon brought itself lower, spinning ever lower until it was flying just over the buildings. Breaking away from it's pattern, it flew over James' copter, spitting a great wad of fire at the vehicle.

In a little chopper like that, there wasn't much he could do in the way of attacking... unless he got horribly creative.
The dragon flew in very low, coming directly at the chopper, only just above it as it prepared to breathe fire on the chopper. James, he wasn't the best pilot in the world... but keeping a helicopter steady is the hardest thing to do, it wasn't nearly as hard to... hit something.
The chopper veered sharply to the left; not turning but instead tilting. The right side of the propeller blades swung up. With any luck it would catch the dragon's wing on the downswing and tear a nice hole in that scaly membrane it called an appendage.
As for the fire... there wasn't much more he could do about that. At such a short range he could only hope that the chopper could withstand it.

Up some stairs. Then up some more stairs. And up another couple flights of stairs of some apartment building. All the way up to the roof and then out the door and onto the roof with a mad dash for the edge where she would take cover behind the wall there with Fluffy. At this point, Disa would wait for a chance to make a closer examination of the terrible beastie's belly.
There were several things that would be true. The spot that was missing scales would be dull as dirt compared to the shiny scales, so if any light passed over the underbelly, she would know where the spot was, whether she was close enough to see the individual scales or not. If she was close enough, well, she'd notice some missing scales.

This chopper was designed to go into dangerous places, but it wasn't prepared for a direct blast of fire. There was no protection from the heat, the body began to warp, and who knows how protected the gas tank was on that thing. (Do you know how that goes on an average helicopter? 'Cuz I really don't.)
On the bright side, chopper blade met dragon wing, and the beast ended up careening past, landing in a roll and coming to its feet gracefully.
