The questions flew at her, but she seemed unphased by it. Maybe even a little amused. She had never thought that perhaps she liked her tail because it was truly like a accessory, but it did make sense. The tail was silky, it was pretty, and if one looked past the oddness of it all then maybe...she frowned at that thought, and her tail moved back down, this time hanging limply by her legs. She would never call anything that made her less of a human, beautiful. It still had it uses however. So once again the tail went back to free flowing.
"Mhmmm, I can use it much like another hand" she smirked a bit, "I can even juggle with it. Have you heard of the theatre Billy's got going? Yeah...my little two cents for the freakshow...I juggle.."
But saying all the made her think of Billy. Which made her stomach turn into knots. She sighed before his comment pulled her attention. "Oh I don't know that are even fair maidens left here," she quipped, tapping his arm a bit playfully. "C'mon, we can talk and walk.."

"You...juggle?" he said in disbelief.
There was just something quite incongruious about a girl like Maryke actually knowing how to juggle, and then wanting to display her talents for the Island to see. It wasn't usually the pretty ones that learned circus tricks, she belonged as the elegant rider on the back of a performing horse. It made him giggle.
"Yah, I know about Billy and his theatre, although I didn't know it was his idea until a few days ago. Gaius hired me for labour in building the thing, then Billy hired me as security for when its finished," he said, obviously still smiling from the idea of Maryke juggling. "I'll be able to sneak backstage and keep all the drooling fellas out of your way."
Of course, he didn't count himself as one of the 'drooling fellas.' Gorillas don't drool. They purr-rumble. Just as he felt his begin to reverberate with that noise that symbolised his happiness, he began walking with Maryke again and changed the subject.
"So, errr...have you climbed any trees yet?"

"I do, strange huh?" she said, a maw twisting into a unreadible expression. "After one of my changes, when I first got the damn think I...well, I was a total space cadet," she said waving towards her head, "I wouldn't leave my duplex. I guess...I sorta learned. It helped give me better mobility with it at least. Anyway.."
She kept walking as they spoke and nodded as she listened, thinking again of Billy was quite painful. Not that she would let it show. She doubted anyone would believe she had feelings for the octoman anyway. And on top of that, why would she ever admit it? She couldn't help but laugh at the 'drooling fellas' comment. On mainland that was so very believable, but here, anamalistic beauty was a whole new ballpark. So she didn't touch on it, only smiled and kept walking.
"No but I want to!" she said quickly, excitedly. As soon as she did she felt herself grow hot, she'd never blushed. Not with her latin skintone and certainly not now. So more quieter she quickly said, "I haven't had a chance to yet."

Maryke's enthusiasm and obvious eagerness to get climbing reminded Oz of little kids in an amusement park, itching to get on the bumper cars or the rollercoasters. It was quite endearing really, even though it was an animalistic urge that was so alien to how she should be acting. It was a little bit like Sayuri's comment on Oz's odd 'purr' - she found it quite cute, like a cat's purr.
"Maybe you're a natural and you don't know it yet," he encouraged her.
As they travelled a little further into the jungle that lined the river, Oz began to size up the trees for ease of climbing. But he was no expert. Anything that he could have climbed as a human was a big no-no now that he'd almost doubled in weight. Seeing how tall some of them were just brought back horrible memories of the helicopter journey.
"Heh...you're on your own on this one...go nuts," he chuckled, but obviously looked awkward around trees.

Oh how she tried to refrain! Maryke was a little vixen when it came to how she was preisland. Calm, collected, and with a persona that meant you took her seriously or you had to get the ******** out of her way. But now....She took a deep inhaled breath. Though she didn't know Oz and with all islanders there was an offchance you might not see them again, but she still did not want to act like an idiot around him. But still.....the trees.
She couldn't respond to Oz because she'd already found the nearest tree. As soon as two hands touched the hardness she was off! Her hand like feet found a footing while the other found another footing while her hands worked rythmically and it was much easier then expected. Her tail helped her along, balancing where she couldn't and pushed against branches if she was slipping. Her tail was long and luxiourious, though it wasn't as prehensile as most other monkies. Lemurs could not hang from them, she could only manipulate objects by flipping and pushing them. Only once had she managed to use her tail to pull up, and even then it'd hurt afterwards. Like a ripping sensation in her a**. So she wouldn't try it now. Instead she wrapped one leg around the branch and used her hand foot to cling on to another smaller branch as she hung upside down.
"God this is orgasmic," she breathed out, once she had stopped 'playing' for a moment.

She really needn't worry about what Oz would think of her if she did indeed go a little nuts over the trees...this was a guy who had suddenly become quite obsessed with grooming. Although unlike her, he wasn't about to let go and request a grooming session with her...at least not yet...all manner of odd thoughts entertained his mind.
Mostly the fact she was a 'monkey' also. Oz hadn't met anyone else who was being turned into a primate, and he at least found solace in the fact that Maryke might understand and be more accepting of his behaviour than his other friends.
He watched her display of agility and grace as she clambered about in the trees and lower canopy now, head following her all around her explorations. Her enjoyment made him laugh.
"Orgasmic? You gunna give up sex for the trees?" he teased, having only barely heard her contented statement.
Oz settled himself down on the ground, resting his aching back against a strong tree. Whilst Maryke's antics were greta to watch, he couldn't supress the knots in his stomach as he dreaded the thought of her falling, watching her with the odd flinch or grimace. Maybe it was a good thing he didn't have the same climbing urges.
"You should do the high-wire act for the theatre."

She laughed as well, just now realizing the absurdity of her statement. "Oh yes," she teased, "From this point forward I'm celibate! yeeeeeah, that'll be the day!" Of course the only 'nookie' she'd gotten from the island had been with Billy. Which was....something she REALLY didn't want anyone to know about. But all was fair with teasing. Wasn't it?
At the thought of the high wire act she put a finger to her muzzle and made a 'hmmmm'ing' sound. She was surprised that she didn't feel heady with being upside down for so long, but her lemur like body was built for it. Still the prospect intruiged her. She quickly picked herself back up and then stood on the tree branch, like a gymnist on a beam. She took a few steps forward, foot to foot as she held her hands outstretched. Soon she realized that she didn't need to put her hands out, the tail provided the balance she needed on her own.
"Perhaps I should," she agreed before she tore off down the remainder of the branch, running as fast as she could. When she reached the end of it she jumped off, hurtling towards the next tree and landed (surprisingly gracefully) on the next branch. She let out a loud whoop like bark and repeated the act again and again until she finally flipped down on the ground, just in front of Oz.
"Whoa..........." she breathed out once she landed. A 'how the hell did I just do that?' expression etched about her maw.

"Awww, now thats a shame. I'm never gonna get a chance with THE prettiest thing I've seen on this Island," he replied, equally as playful in his teasing.
Of course he had that little voice niggling at the back of him, reminding him about Sayuri. But this wasn't like last time. He was pretty sure nothing would ever come of this harmless flirting...so it was okay to do it.
Oz watched Maryke's performance inbetween bouts of curiously picking up blades of grass, examining them briefly, and then tossing them aside. Was he looking for something in the grass? He didn't know, it felt natural to do it. Maybe it was just his short attention span - he often fiddled with his hands in all manners when they weren't busy.
But he bolted upright when Maryke leapt from the tree.
He watched in slow horror as he expected the worst to happen - she'd lose her grip and topple. But it didn't happen. Maryke landed safely, and even completed her act with a perfect dismount.
Oz was impressed.
"Bravo m'lady," he cooed.

With all her fun having Maryke barely noticed the quips he gave until she was finally down on the ground. At his cooed impression she gave a graceful bow, amused with herself, if not filling a bit silly by it all.
"Thank you, thank you," she said happily as she flopped down next to him. "God that was probably the most fun I've had in well....ever."

"Well then, you must have had a pretty dull life," he said with a slight chuckle.
It struck Oz as bizarre, and maybe a little uncomfortably, that she was having fun with her changes. Admittedly, there had been times when Oz had forgotten what was going on here. Like in the cafeteria...he'd get his meal and eat it as normal but then it only took a glance at his grey skin to jolt him back to reality.
"So what's your story? How were you brought to this floating zoo?" he asked casually as she flopped next to him.

"I don't think it's that its....." she started, looking disantly for a second, "It's just....I can't even describe it." A furred hand brushed through her black and white hair. "I don't know if it's just this thing..I'm becoming or what, but I can't fight the feeling."
She waved the question off, thinking it better to lie then tell the truth. "I was a talent scout of sorts. I thought this was a resort...you?"

"...I can't say I can relate, I've done nothing good with this body and I doubt I will," he replied, his tone bitter and venomous.
Oz's whole demeanour seemed to change ever so slightly. His body tensed and from the attitude in his voice, it was obvious what he thought of the Island and its purpose. He found it hard to understand anybody who actually enjoyed what was happening.
"Meh, rehab. Drinking problem. The lady I spoke to said I showed greatest potential for an intensive detox program on a tropical island," he said, with that same bitterness. He felt quite stupid every time he thought about how he'd been duped.
"So what do you scout for?"

She nodded, "These people seem to have the smartest ways to ******** up your life. Get you here, torment you... " she let out a wayward sigh escape her maw before she settled on the next question. Her lie hadn't been thought up to that point. "Oh.....it's a......modelling agency," she fished, smirking at how plausible the lie would seem. "I find women, and get them to sign."
She stood at that, finding the details of her past uncomfortable. It made her rethink about where she was now, and how badly she didn't want to be there. "It's starting to get late...I should get going.."

"Modelling...I thought so. Beauty knows beauty," he said, slipping back into that harmless flirting.
Oz looked a little disappointed that she had to go. Despite his teasing and the odd urges she brought about in him, he had enjoyed her company. He wasn't sure if she felt the same, and could probably understand if she never wanted to see him again. It wasn't the first time it had happened.
"Yeah, theres just so much to do here...see a bug over there, look at some grass over here..." he said sarcastically with a chuckle. "At least let me be a gentleman and walk you back."

She beamed at his comment. Despite some of them being forced and typical 'guy' comments, she had to admit, they were endearing. But still, she hated thinking about what she used to be, she was happy now. But wasn't HER that was happy. It was the ******** lemur inside of her. And she hated that.
She chuckled at the comment, and nodded, "Well alright..."
With that she continued to walk with him, looking every so often with a small smile. Or commenting about the island or the inhabitants. She noted Oz's fur most of all. Something about it, some inner primate wanted to inspect it, to play with it, and most of all to groom it. But that wasn't even something she herself was aware of. When she reached her duplex she gave Oz a friendly little wave and patted his arm once.
"I hope we can hang out some other time," she said earnestly, "It's nice to have another monkey buddy here."
