That would be so great, having something officially recognized as a hobbit-and I dont mean by books and movies etc. but an actual part of our history...evolution etc.

My history teacher told us about it but didn't use the word "hobbit" to describe them, but when I saw the picture I shouted "It's a hobbit!" I was so embarrassed!!!

Well.. I am majoring in Anthropology and along the human evolution chain they are very closely related to Austalopithecus Afarensis. They were only 3 to 4 feet tall and walked on two feet. I don't care what the formal name for the little guys are.. I am content with hobbit!

I've read alot of articles about the discovery of the hobbits. I personally doubt they were really hobbits, but the comparison is quite nice ^^;

It would rock if they discovered the remains of another humanoid showing signs of intelligence (tools, using fire, etc) that was of human stature, but elven in some way. Then we'd really have to wonder...
