"This way then, Sakuri." He'd used her name, he could have just said lion. Stretyching his odd shapped toes he took a quick, though odd run and flew up the nearest tree as fast as a cheetah would normally run on land. Ha paused though before he went climbing away and flying off through the trees and looked down. "You can uhm, climb right?" another tilt of that large, dark green skull, his flowing streak of mane falling over his ears as he did so. "It's not that far..we can walk." He was walking now? He never walked any where.

Grunting he dropped back to the ground with the same, light footed thud he had made when he had killed the pig. "This way." He smiled and started to walk, his forepaws, because of their odd shape, the way they had formed with him climbing through trees, gave him an odd hobble on the ground, in the trees, the shape of his paws granted him amazing speed and grace, on the ground, unlike otehr cheetahs, he was nearlly a criple. Why was he showing her, this, this lioness whom could kill him this weakness? He'd clearly gone insane.

Sukari had watched him, and it was clear to her now: She couldn't ever kill the cheetah. If he stayed in the trees, he'd be safe. Even if Sukari could work her way up a tree, she could never catch him.

She felt like a cub again. When she was a cub, she held no hate, no spite, no extreme desire for strength. When she was a cub, she was as normal as any other. Until her mother practically abandoned her; she had set out on her own as just a cub, nearly a juvenile. And as a cub, she was curious.

"How did you do that?" Sukari asked, her voice actually sounded higher pitched. She still stood back at the tree. Her face was blank, she had slightly better control than before.

Jani acctually grinned at her facinated voice, he couldn't help but find it, flattering, that she sounded so, astounded by what he had just done. "I grew up in the trees." A simple enough answer really, he could, go in to it further but he doubted she wanted to hear his tale, this was infact the first tim she had acctually sounded interested in him, instead of simply spiteful. "If you live up there long enough, you adapt. I gues I just lived up there long enough." He chuckled and continued to pad onwards, though he waited for her to stop stareing at the tree.

"Do you intend to stay in the jungle? I have a home, not too far away, it's up but you're yanno, welcome to sleep there if you can climb it.." He cleared his throat and shook his head feeling dazed. He'd just invited her, to his home, his hide away, the place where he was safe even from those hunting him.

"You probably wopuldn't wasnt to. i'll show you the water and let you be." He turned his eyes to the 'road' before him then, what the heck was going on here? Why was it that this, pretty, rather large, arrogant lioness had ambushed him and now he was being NICE to her? That boar had done something weird to him. Maybe it had been eating poisanous mushrooms or something and they were messing with his head? There was no other explination for this, sillyness!

Sukari hadn't ever cared about anyone enough to wonder about their past, but she had to know about the cheetah's for some reason. "I thought cheetahs were supposed to be animals that were fast on the ground?" She stopped worrying about her face, or what she had learned in the roguelands, or anything. There was no past, nor future, only the present. She wondered why, but the thought quickly drifted away like a leaf on the wind.

"I intend on staying for a little while, but..." she remembered Trigger. "I'm going to be a member of a pride soon." She admitted. She had a high rank, she couldn't leave it. Somewhere in the back of her head was a juvenile lionness yelling at her, What are you doing?!? you're such a moron! Ok, go! Go be killed by such a lowly piece of scum as a cheetah! She quickly pushed it out of mind. Somehow, he didn't seem so bad. He had, afterall, somehow gotten through her walls.

"Would you like to come back with me when I have to leave?" Sukari asked. The little lion went wild. Why take something that made you weak with you??

"I'd like to see where you live," She added.

Why was she so caring to something that had been so rude to her, so mean to her before? So disrespectful to her. Had she submitted to him? Was this the same thing that her mother did to her? Jani didn't even give her all his kill! Why even let him live?

She somehow pushed those thoughts aside and followed him.

Jani smirked, okay she was going to pry some more. "Are you as nosey with all the males you meet?" He raised a brow at her, that smirk creeping further over his handsome maw. "They are, My mother, the female whom adopted me was a leopard, shetaught me to climb to live. i can't run except for up there." He rolled his eyes, he always found the story boreing even in his own head. Coming from his lips, to a female he didn't know, well it sounded even more stupid.

"I can't, this place is my home, without the trees, I'd die." Hie brow furrowed, did he really beleive that? Or was it simply something he said, an excuse never to leave the sanctuary that was his jungle home.

They broke through a barrier of trees then, coming out in to a small clearing where a large pool opened up from a small quarry of rocks. "underground river." He stated as if that was important. He dipped his head and lapped at the cool waters his ears flickering to see if she would join him.

"My home, I don't live too far away. His tail lashed, was he going to go through with this? Was he going to take this, well, lioness to HIS home and have her in his private sanctuary? Why? It baffled him, why had he suddenly taken a shine to something as unusual as an angry lioness.

Sukari was mystified by his story. Not for the story itself, but for the similarity it had to her own. The difference was that he had a mentor, and Sukari had been left to raise herself. Her anger began to rise a little at the thought of it. She took a deep breath and shook her head in an attempt to rid herself of the hatred she had towards her mother. Somehow, looking at the cheetah worked, and she was calm again. Why? "Sounds a lot like my story..." She said. Part of her normal self finally got to her. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? It asked, enraged. She had promised herself never ever to let anyone know about her past.

She moved on to his other remarks, hoping he wouldn't ask about her past. "I usually don't care about the males I meet. Anyone I meet, for that matter," She told him before she bent to get a drink. She was actually sad that he couldn't leave the jungle with her when time came. Another feeling she hadn't let herself feel since she was a cub, sadness.

He rolled his thick shoulders as he watched her and did something he hadn't done himself since he was a young cub. he reached his nose out and touched her lowered ears as she drank, an almost gentle nuzzle. "It's hard to be alone, I don't even remember my real mother." He smiled weakly then sitting back and looking out over the water. "You can stay with me as long as yuo like, you might learn to like the jungle..." He cleared his throat and rolled those thickly bunched shoulders, clearing his throat loudly as if saying such things was blastphemy, or a mistake, a slip of the tongue perhaps?

"Come, I'll take you home." he crumpled his brow once again, he'd just called HIS home, home for her too? wait, maybe she hadn't caught that. "s'allways nice to be cared about.." holy, what the hell was he saying here? Why was he being so, foolish around this lioness? he must have been hit on the ehad or something, maybe that boar had killed him and he was in heaven? Na, heaven was more white and cloudy. Well, what ever was happening he couldn't turn back now, his fear had somehow melted away in to some sort of strange like for the brown lioness. Who knew what the heck was going on with that. He'd never really enjoyed or wanted anyone elses company before.

Sukari nearly spat out the water she had been drinking when she felt his touch, but managed to swallow it instead. She hadn't had a soft touch... as far back as she could remember, actually. It felt insanely good, and before she could catch herself, she was nuzzling back, purring.

What are you doing!?! The voice asked insanely.
I'm going to follow him. She responded. She'd never argued with herself before.

She said nothing as she followed him to his home.

He tenced his shoulders and looked over the dark, chocolate coloured female, his tail flickering back and forth. he hadn't exactly expected her to, well, return any affection, scratch him perhaps, but genuine affection? No, he hadn't expected that in the least. Clearing his throat once again, he lead her off in to the jungles closed in darkness once again, his strange, hobbling walk making the journey a little slower than it really should have been.

He led her quite far in to the darkness, until they came to a large, thick trunked tree, it was huge and clearly one of the oldest trees within the great jungle. "We have to go up" He whispered it as if it was something terrible, something he wanted ehr to do, though almost didn't dare ask her to. He touched ehr shoulder, his nose breathing int he scent of her daerk fur as he took a step on to the old knobly tree, his claws benting and merging perfectly with the contours of the old great vines around the structure.

Something inside him had clearly snapped when he had allowed this female to take a meal with him. He had stood up to her and with that, simplest of acts, he had somehow found a friend? He swallowed hard as he took another swift run up the bark of the tree, pausing upon a large branch to look back upon her a strange, confused smile on his deep green maw. "Come Sukari." his voice was soft, a deep, rolling puurr escaping from his chest as he waited for her. What ever was happening here, he couldn't turn back now, it felt so strangely right to want ehr to sleep in his sanctuary. What a strange day this was turning out to be, he had little doubt things would only get stranger as time went on.

Sukari felt quite awkward, following him up the tree. She wasn't really good at climbing much, but she had to give it a shot. Luckily for her, the tree seemed to have lots of knots to jump to. She started her way up, a lot less graceful than the cheetah.

The purrish voice he used just now sent shivers up her spine. What was it about him? Was it that he, a smaller, weaker creature had been willing to challenge her? Willing to force himself into an equal or better position than she? Perhaps.

She could tell he still didn't entirely trust her. Or maybe not know what to think of her. When she reached the top, she sighed a sigh of relief that she had actually managed to climb a tree. "So this is where you live?" She asked, feeling dumb after asking. Of course this were he lives, he comes here to sleep! She spat at herself in her mind. She couldn't help but wonder where up here he slept, though.

"On a branch?" He grinned rather cheekily, "Na, I live through here." He vanished beneath the greenery then, pushing aside long drapes of vine he revealed his true home. It was a bowl, a huge opening in the crown of the tree easily large enough to pace around in and devinately large enough for a couple of lions let alone one and a cheetah. "I live here" he let a low rolling puurr escape from his chest allowing her to drop in to the large opening below the branches, the branches slkightly above. The whole place smelt strongly of the sweet scented jasmine which grew on the vines surrounding the secret hide away, though above a virtual ' sky light' opened up so that the sun, or moons rays lit a bright spot in the center of the place.

"Welcome home." He padded all the way accross the great wide surface and lay in a large pile of leaves and flowers which was clearly his bed though he obviously liked to be extravigant with these things. Of course, he was still a little more than stunned that he had braught her here in to his home, in to his hideaway. What was it that made him wish to have this female here, she could be dangerous. Soemthing told him she wasn't and it confused him more because of that.

"I..welll" he clears his throat a bit. "I hope it's to your likeing..." he trailed off and even looked down a little bashfully at his dark green toes. What ever was going on here he was very confused about it! He acctually wanted her to stay, kept calling HIS hideaway home, and not even in a singular sence. She wa welcome here and he didn't know why.

Sukari was surprised at the size of the place Jani lived in. The scent of the flowers, mixed with his own created an aroma that further relaxed her. She followed him in and plopped herself down in the center, where the light cast itself wistfully upon her. She looked around.

The cheetah had been very meticulous with his sanctuary. It was a perfect get-away for him to hide from anything that might want to hurt him. She still felt like a cub, and looked around wide-eyed.

"I do like it..." Sukari said, her voice sounding far-off. For a long while now, she felt she was in a dream, but her leg with the fresh cut kept throbbing (especially with the climbing.) If it was truly a dream, it wouldn't hurt.

She looked back towards Jani, after taking in everything around her. Somehow, he had managed to break her walls, had managed to make her act like a cub, like everything bad had never happened. She got up and slowly headed over to him, avoiding eye contact, and layed down in a crook closer to him. "It's really beautiful."

What was she doing, calling a place beautiful??? Nothing in life was beautiful before! Why should it suddenly be now?

Didn't matter- she was home.

He watched her pad around his sanctuary, a shadowy, large beast, an unusual sight in his private sanctuary. He watched her as she lay in the sun baked center of his home and oculdn't help but smile as the suns rays played accross her chocolate coloured body. He cleared his throat and stretched out his claws turning his gaze away incase she caught him stareing. Of course, she surprised him more when, she came and nestled on his bedding. His strange shaped claws stretched and moulded for a moment, what was he supposed to do now? the only thing he could do really.

He draped his neck over her shoulders, a soft puurr echoeing from his deep slender chest. "I'm glad you like it." His voice was a low rumble then as he touched her dark ears with his nose. What ever was happening here, what ever he was doing, he was way too far in to it simply to jump up and escape.

A part of him was still frightened, afraid that this large female would simply decide he wasn't worth his weight in meat and would take him down for her breakfast, though he faintly doubted that as he curled his bodu behind hers, finding the contours of his body a strange fit to hers. "You are welcome to stay as long as you wish.." He trailed off, she had a mission outside of these green walls he lived behind. "I.." he wanted to tell her he would follow her then, but the fear of leaving the place he had grown in struck his heart heavily. Something had happened, in this, such a short time that pulled the dark cheetah towards the chocolate lioness and he didn't know what it was. He did know she wouldn't be leaving without him.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 29, 2007 2:50 pm

She shivered again, she didn't really understand why. She didn't understand why she let him even contact her, talk to her. She didn't know why she had followed him so willingly up here, or why she didn't care about all of this!

It was so easy for her to let go... Why had it been so easy with Jani?

She layed her head on one of his paws, relaxed entirely by his touch. "I'll stay for as long as I can," she said, letting her eyes droop closed. She was still awake, but barely.

His thoughts were right- She had to leave sometime in the near future, but she wasn't leaving without him. It wasn't long before sleep took her.
