Haha, that ending would just figure, seeing as how Hakkai's gotten them lost before, which makes me wonder why they let him be the navigator in the first place.
Of course, Sanzo probably wouldn't want to be bothered with the task, Gojyo would most likely only want to direct them to heavily-populated hotspots where he could pick up chicks, and Goku would be utterly hopeless with a map.
