Jaithien GenOberst I've tried crickets, grasshoppers and mealworms. They weren't bad. And like Jaithien pointed out originally, they have a high protein content with less fat than other conventional meats. A friend of mine breeds mealworms for consumption. She starves them for a day or two before serving them so that they're...empty. and they are better that way? Well, I'm not sure if they're "better" that way, it's just that their digestive tracts are empty.

I'm not at all against eating bugs. They're an amazing source of protein. Personally though, I just don't want to eat them. I'm a vegetarian and I guess I kind of count bugs as "meat". If I did eat meat, I'm almost positive I would try them. I'm actually really adventurous when it comes to food. Just...as long as it's vegetarian. xd Oxymoron? Haha.

I've actually eaten fried crickets. The taste sort of stuck to my tongue all day. It's not bad but nothing I'm going to jump up to try again. Although I want to try chocolate ants.

I wouldn't try them fried because my daughter can't have fried foods, but I'm looking for a recipe for Alfredo sauce. edit: found now I can make cricket Alfredo.
