Surprised by the beta's somewhat abrupt departure, Deimos trotted after him, forgetting about the drop outside the den. He toppled face first into the snow, but he was back up in an instant, only mildly wobbly. Sneezing the cold powder from his snout, he ran to catch up to Tasu, hopping from footprint to footprint to keep from sinking into the deep snow.
Tasu had a long stride.
"Where are we going?" he asked between pants, tongue lolling, his breath misting before him like silver fog. The moon was unusually bright in the sky, making the snow almost painful to look at. He had to keep blinking his eyes and he nearly ran into a tree.
"Do you smell something?"

Glancing back with a devious smirk, Tasubaa chuckled softly as he continued to hastily stroll within the moonlight. "You're about to have you're first lesson on chivalry," he replied, a hint of thrill trailing within his own words. The night was somewhat mysterious, mystical and certainly elusive; the snow underfoot was glistening like priceless, pure jewels that radiated with an elegant beauty and such a clear night where no clouds inhabited the heavens could only prove to predict a good fortune.
Lifting his muzzle into the air once again, the fiery beta could only let his grin stretch from ear to ear as he pressed deeper into the outskirts of the woods.
"There is a female nearby."
Drifting towards the right as the scent wafted heavily within the evening air, Tasubaa slowed his pace as he ambled towards a small clearing. For there, standing lone and basking within the moonlight, was a wolfess- an adolescent to be exact.
This was too perfect.
Turning towards the pup who still trailed slightly behind, Tasu lowered his head towards Deimos. "Now, show her your charm and 'woo' her. Don't be hesitant or scared; be bold, calm, collected and try to get her to come with you to meet me. If a female can put her trust in a pup, you have your foot in the door of at least knowing how to read them so you can get what you want."
Oblivious and unaware of the plotting that was taking place within the shadows, the natural pelted female swept her crimson tapered bangs from her eyes and gazed upwards. It was a quite night, a lonesome night for any wolf to be out alone while ones thoughts were unceasingly plauging her mind. The days before her did not fortell of what was to come as only anticipation and dread seemed to let whatever rolled her way dictate her actions.
If only that was really the case.
Sighing softly as she curled her fluffly, curly tail abot her body, Jaylin slumped her shoulders and drifted her gaze back towards the snow.

It took a lot of effort to keep his lip from curling. Females.
It was going to be damn hard to be convincing when all he wanted to do was walk away.
Grumbling, he shook the snow from his coat, and chewed at the few burrs that had caught in his fur. Might as well try to look presentable.
"Woo her," he growled, ears flicking back. "Right . . . "
Putting on a very convincing grin, tail wagging and ears pricked playfully, he trotted from the shadows, stepping lightly into the clearing as quietly as if he were floating over the crisp snow.
"Excuse me. Milady?" he questioned, stopping a few feet from the young wolfess.

The fiery beta nodded his head, trying to keep a relatively straight face with a curling, devious snarl tucked at the corner of his maw. "Gain her confidence to meet a stranger," he whispered hoarsely as his orbs, much like kindling flames, watched with great interest as the pup began to make his way towards the wolfess.
The night was peaceful.
Cerulean orbs seemed to focus elsewhere as the wolfess flicked her ears and yawned. For once, it was more than a relief to look into the night sky and let his eyes aimlessly wander about the skies- dancing from star to star and imagining what exactly it would be like to rule both land and air. It seemed like such a silly thought for a Seer to think of but Jaylin didn't like having to abide by the typical standards for young wolfess's to follow. She was like a rose; beautiful, mysterious and precious, yet thorns made her a bit difficult to handle.
But the sound of small paws trudging within the snow seemed to interrupt her thoughts.
Glancing over towards the small pup, Jaylin tilted her head and swivled her ears back. Was this pup being...proper? That was rare.
"Need somethin'?"

Deimos' ears flattened against his skull and he dipped his head, as if in sorrow. "I'm sorry to bother you, milady, but I have a request."
He glanced over his shoulder towards the trees, hoping the Tasu was listening. Then he looked back at the wolfess. "My guardian and I are lost; we aren't familiar with this area, and the snows have made it very hard to follow scents. But, you see, my guardian is blind in one eye." He smiled sadly, staring up at Jaylin with wide eyes. "It makes him very obstinate. He always wishes to do things on his own. But could you please tell him where we need to go? Maybe if he hears it from someone such as yourself, he will listen to reason."
He hoped his little ploy would work, because the sooner it did, the sooner he could get away from her.

What?
The young Seer flickered her ears as a grin was tucked away within the corner of her mouth. Guardian? One eye? Shifting her weight upon her forepaws, Jaylin stammered as her feathered, curly tail swished behind her in a hesitant manner. Something didn't seem right- not right at all.
The single, fiery eye of the beta gleamed with a devious nature as he continued to watch. He couldn't help but chuckle to himself and sway his tail with pride as he watched Deimos at work. For a kid who was stubborn and risilient at first, the pup certainly was quick and sly with his words. Deimos was proving to be an asset and quite a key. Certainly he might be a wolf Maverick was looking for.
Flaring her nostrils as a sharp breath created a wreath around her muzzle, Jay gritted her teeth. She really couldn't get mad at the pup for being so proper but, on the other hand, it was a bit- well unusual. "It depends on where you're wanting to go," She replied, tilting her head slightly as trust wasn't so easily handed out to those who seemed to have a mischievous sense about them, "but-"
She wasn't really going to get anywhere or make him leave was she?
Flattening her ears against her skull, Jaylin surrended. "Alright," she huffed as she rose to all fours, "show me to him."

Somewhat nervous, though he hid it well, Deimos smiled thankfully and trotted back towards the trees, keeping one ear swiveled behind him, focused on the female. He still didn't trust them.
"I left him over here . . . " Searching the darkness, he spotted Tasu's fiery pelt, and heard the soft clink of his gold cuffs hitting against each other. His little mission was almost over . . . "Here he is," he said softly, glancing over his shoulder at the femme before pointing towards a slightly darker shadow beneath a tree.

Jaylin mumbled to herself, her tapered-crimson hair swaying before her vibrant blue orbs as her paws treaded upon the snow with a light crunch as her paws seemed to sink slightly into the white depths below. Behind her, her curly, feathered tail swept from side to side in a somewhat hesitant and uncertain apporach. It seemed like this pup had alternative motives and, carefully, she prodded the outskirts of his mind and sought his actual train of thought that was disguised behind his words.
A sly smirk drew across her maw just as she approached to face the shadowed figure who resided within the darkness underneath the thick douglass fir trees, keeping his presence and appearance from being easily discovered. If only he would have known that his adornment of metal gleamed just as notoriously in the night with the light of the moon, perhaps the fiery beta would have found a better spot.
But even that wouldn't have been able to fool her.
Jaylin was a Seer.
"Up to mischief again, Tasubaa?" She inquired with her sweet, curious voice as she had come to love to tease the fiery wolf. She couldn't help but laugh as she shook her head and let a soft sigh of fog create a wreath around her muzzle. "Found a lone pup, I see."
A deep chuckle rose from the throat of Tasu as he slowly stepped from out of the shadows. His single eye that glistend like a kindling fire at night held it's devious gleam as he lowered his head in respect to the young Seer. His tail lowered as his whole body showed a more submissive and honorable apporach as wolves of the Shaman and Seer rank were to be honored iwth high reguards in the eyes of the warrior wolf. "I should have known that you would be several steps ahead of me, Jaylin," he replied, a grin settled upon his maw. "And as for the pup, I think he can be quite useful. Better than letting any of the other wolf packs tear him to shreads and find him as a meal. He has potential."
Taking a step forwards, Jaylin leveled her head with the pup and glanced back at Tasu. "You're thinking your Alpha can use him?"
"Of course. We need a wolf with a fierce personality, bold and unafraid. And Deimos has it," he nodded. Glancing towards the red, black and white adorned pelted pup, Tasu inclined his head. "Deimos, meet Jaylin. She's a Seer and a good friend of mine."
Nodding her head with a small smile, Jaylin matched her eyes with those of the pup. "A pleasure. Any pup Tasu is willing to mentor proves you have great potential."

Deimos' jaw dropped. Tasu knew this female? And pretty much sent him on a false mission. It kind of pissed him off. Staring back and forth between the two wolves, he growled softly, ears flattening against his skull.
"Well, miss Jaylin. Pleased to meet you," he spat out, glaring at Tasu. "Any other 'tests' you'd like to put me through tonight, Tasu?"
He had heard legends passed amongst the forest of Seer wolves, and if he remembered right, she would have known exactly what he was doing, and who he was doing it for. In his mind, he had failed.

Jaylin's mischievious orbs of pure cerulean blue seemed to narrow towards the pup as her fur bristled slightly on end. The pup's mind was clearly defined as one that was ruthless, vile and capable of learning quick. He was definately a candidate either way for a pack or conquering whatever he desired on his own. But his attitude was foul, a bitter sensation that needed some adjustments or the pup would certainly become another meal for a savage, cannibal wolf or, perhaps, he'd just become entwined within their packs and become another minion.
Typical.
The wolfess hackled slightly as her tail swayed with a mild irration. "His mind's easy to predict- but either way he'll survive with a pack or without. It's your call, Tasu. Do as you wish but leave me out of it," she warned, snorting a sharp breath as she padded back into the shadows and heading off somewhere else where she was needed by others.
Furrowing his brows, Tasu let his ears fall against his skull while his eyes that seemed to kindle like a wildfire mulled over the pup.
"Tests, no. But you have a decision: To continue or to run off and make something out of yourself. You've proven yourself but you just have to decide what you want to do or where to go." Thumping his tail upon the powdered, snow, Tausbaa shrugged his shoulders as a small grin took place upon his maw. "Don't beat yourself up, you didn't fail and it was hardly a test. Just a spot check on your intetions and your mind. But that we don't have to worry about."
Rising up to all fours, Tasubaa began drifting slowly away. Glancing back he looked towards Deimos.
"Stickin' with me won't get you nowhere. The limelights aready filled and I suggest you go off and terrorize another wolf. You're strong enough and don't underestimate yourself, kid."

He sighed in defeat. Tasu said not to be so hard on himself, but if he hadn't failed, than what had he done to make the older male want to leave all of a sudden? First his mother left because she hated him, than his father died while trying to keep him alive, and now Tasu . . . his friend . . . was leaving him too.
"Tasu . . . " he murmured, so quietly, he wasn't even sure if any sound came from his throat. For all his gumption and spunk, he was still a pup. He still wanted, needed, the comfort of a warm body curled against him at night. He still wished to follow around an adult, like he would if his father was still alive.
He didn't want to be alone again.
And not every wolf would be like Tasu. He was sure most in these woods would kill him on sight.
Shaking his head, he kept his eyes lowered to hide the moisture in them. A bitter smile curved his lips. "See ya around then . . . " Turning on his heels, he disappeared into the shadows, waiting until he was sure he was out of Tasu's sight before his cool trot turned into a headlong run, a whimper building in his throat.
He was alone.
But he made a promise to Tasu as he ran; he wouldn't underestimate himself. No, he was going to make something of himself one day. And he would find Tasu again.
Of that he was sure.

The beta's brows furrowed, his lip almost seeming to quiver. What was he doing? Why was he turning away such a pup with so much potential? He was acting just like his own pack; running him out and giving him nowhere to turn. If anyone was to know the cruelties of the woods, it would be the fiery beta. Because of his own pack, his own brethren, he had lost sight within his left eye and had vowed to bring Valex to his death.
He didn't have the heart too.
Pivoting backwards, the large and bulky male kept a quick trot hoping that time was not lost, that he could still, and Deimos would let him, teach him the arts of the warrior and of his trade.
"Deimos!" He called out, his gruff yet comforting tone echoing within the silence of the night. His lone, single eye searched through the dakrness and darted about.
But he was gone.
Wrinkling his muzzle as he gritted his teeth at his own foolish and bitter actions, the male lowered his head slightly. "If I cannot find him this night, I will find him again," he muttered, swearing to himself that he would seek to continue teaching the small pup. Hopefully he could find him again or he would have to stay hot on the pups trail which, trutfully, wouldn't be too difficult.
Drifting about as his eye glanced up towards the moon above, the fiery beta threw back his head and solaced a soulful, almost chilling praise to the sky above along with the music of the night.
"We will meet again, Deimos. When you least expect- we will meet."
