Asi fell silent in her own silence, tail flicking back and forth. He wondered where Tamu would be, where he could find him. His ears perked and he looked around the horizon and turned a slight left. Perhaps by the hills, or dens.

Safiya positively pranced around behind Asi, getting a little bored with regular walking. She hummed a jaunty tune made up on the spot, swishing her tail in time. "How far is it?" she asked presently. "Is it much farther?" She had been walking quite a long time.

The new king was actually hanging about the dens, mostly because he had noticed that Masuka seemed to be growing a bit round about the middle. Simply fat lions did not bulge that way, and he was beginning to speculate. But the beautiful lioness had yet to mention anything to him directly, so he merely resigned himself to hanging about her and making sure she was as comfortable as possible.

Yet he still had duties. As the new king, he was no longer just able to patrol the Kusini lands and laze about. He had real responsibilities now. And as such, he was taking them seriously. Feeling that Masuka was completely comfortable and wouldn't need him for a good while yet, Tamu grumbled happily to himself then started off.

But it wasn't too far past then dens when he saw two figures approaching. One he noticed immediately. Not completely young, he had had plenty of time to memorize his father's figure, even at a distance.

He quirked a smile, picking up the pace a bit. His father was so broken after he had found his mate's dead body, the body of the former queen. Asi seemed almost as if he could never recover from it, and Tamu somewhat understood. From what he knew, his father and mother had been together a long time. For them to suddenly lose each other was probably devastating and a change neither of them were willing to deal with. But he was thinking as if his mother were still alive. She was dead, right?

Shaking his mane, he shoved all thoughts of past events from his mind. He focused on the now. And now, there were two lions approaching him with what looked like a fixed determination.

"Father," he called, eyes shining despite all the worried and confused feelings he had. "Stranger," he said politely. "Good day to you both."

"It do no be much fur..." He cut off and smiled just slightly as he spotted his son. "Ah, 'ere we be. My son be righ'ahead." He nodded in that direction, glancing to Safiya. "Tamu this be Safiya, Safiya this be the king, my son Tamu." He looked to Tamu, his smile faltering. To think... he and Ari had created Tamu. His second son, his third child... Asi shivered and glanced away from them both. He would never have Ari back, he had to face that. "Safiya to 'ave some matters to attend with yeh, Tamu."

((Forgot to post earlier. Safiya's Picture))

Something came over Safiya, the closest to shyness that her bubbly personality could achieve. Approaching the king slowly with her head low and ears down, she tried to show utmost respect. Especially not knowing the usual way to greet royalty, she decided to be extra careful. "Hullo Mr. King Tamu," she began. "My name is Safiya, and I've wandered here from quite far away, and I met Asi here, and he said there might be cubs around here that need a nanny, and I was wondering if maybe you would let me be that nanny?" Her sentence began slow, but as she got more nervous the words had sped up. "I love cubs very much, though I have none of my own, and I think I would do a very good job of looking after them..." she ended hopefully.

Normally, the white lioness was never nervous when meeting new people; on the contrary, she was usually very excited and overly friendly. But this was asking a stranger - king, no less - to accept her. If there was one thing she didn't like, it was disaproval, and that's what she was fearing.

Out of the corner of her eye Safiya noticed Asi turn away. She felt something sad eminanting from him, as easily as she felt a breeze. She hoped Asi would not wander off, as she wished to figure out what was bothering him so.

Tamu noticed straight away that the lioness that was accompanying his father looked shy and maybe even scared. Was he really so frightening? He hadn't thought so before, but after recent events he wasn't sure what to think of himself. He was a killer, though none other than Masuka knew of that little detail. He wondered what the pride would think if they found out they had a murderous king? He frowned, not wanting to think about it.

Yet then he realized that the lioness might think that his frown was directed towards her, so he immediately schooled his expression and made himself look more bright and cheerful.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Safiya," he replied elegantly, dipping his head slightly. He was a king, but he was still getting used to the title. Plus, he didn't like feeling high and mighty. He liked feeling equal, and he liked showing respect to others who deserved it. And since this lioness had done no wrong to him, he felt no reason to take away her dignity or to belittle her.

As she began talking about his father mentioning a nanny being needed and then as she asked if she could become a nanny, the new king thought for a moment. It was true, a nanny was rather needed. There were more cubs now than he had ever thought he could see in his entire life, and there were soon to be more, he suspected. Glancing to his father, he noticed that this decision was on him. It was probably the main reason he had brought this lioness here to him.

Looking back at Safiya, he smiled warmly and nodded his head. "Yes, I think we could definitely give you a chance to be a nanny," he began. "We'll start you off light, to see how you manage. It's nothing against you, but I just don't want you to feel overwhelmed," he explained, hoping she understood. There were so many cubs nowadays that it was almost hard to keep track. He didn't want to dump them all on this sweet lioness so soon. Rather, he thought it was best to get her adjusted to the cubs first then gradually give her more and more to look after if she so wished and was capable.

"How does that sound?"

Asi listened and nodded approval, though in all honesty he knew his opinion didn't count for much. Tamu's choice would be Tamu's choice and Asi had to respect that and not try and change things just because he was still the king's father. Well, as long as the choices were never bad for the pride. "Aye I though' yeh migh' wanna start 'er ou' light... so I figured why dun she take care'a..." He hesitated. "Take care'a Ari's cubs.." His voice had softened and he didn't quite look at Saf or Tamu.

After a minute where the tightening in his chest had gone away he looked to Safiya. "There be three of 'em. Two girls an' a lil'boy."

So that was a yes? Oh, joy! If Safiya had thought she could hug the king without looking crazy, she would have. "Oh! Thank you so much Mr. King, I promise I'll do a good job, I won't let you down. " And she meant that with her whole heart. "I'll be really good at watching the little ones, just you wait! I'll make you proud." The white lioness smiled big, filled with happiness. Maybe this was it...maybe this was the place she was supposed to be? She had never felt right, or at home, in the graveyard. But now she began to feel that maybe she could belong here.

Childlike she may be, Safiya wasn't dense. She always listened to what other people said, even if she seemed distracted. As Asi spoke, the fact that he said "Ari's cubs" did not slip past her. Who was Ari? Safiya tried to search her memory, see if he had mentioned her. No..he had said that he had little ones that needed taken care of. So were they his, or Ari's, or....Safiya wasn't sure what to think, but filed these thoughts away for later investigation.

Bringing herself back to the current situation, she returned Asi's gaze. "Two girls and a boy, hmm?" she thought this over. "Are they nice? Much hassle?" Though she hadn't really had too much experience with cubs, she knew it mothering just came natural to her. She was fairly sure she could handle three cubs. But she wasn't a very good disciplinarian.

Oh, she was so excited! "I thank you so much, King Tamu," Safiya repeated. "This has made me ever so happy!"

Tamu chuckled at the lioness' excitement, finding it a cool relief to recent events. Everything had been so dark and depressing ever since his mother died. It was true, he felt completely ashamed for what he had done, but he just wanted to forget about it all. He just wanted to remember his mother as she truly had been before she died.

As Ari's cubs were mentioned, the king frowned and perhaps even flinched slightly. It was his fault that they were without a mother. He could never forgive himself, nor did he think the cubs could ever forgive him if they ever found out. But he could at least begin to make amends by giving them someone who would give them the love and attention that they needed.

"Yes, you can take care of Ari's cubs," he nodded, though his voice choked slightly. He didn't know exactly what to call the cubs. They were his siblings, true, but it didn't feel like they were.

As Safiya began to question about the cubs, the king thought for a moment. He didn't know them the best, but he was unsure if Asi did either. He grumbled to himself in his mind. He needed to become a better king and learn more of those that were in his pride. "They shouldn't be too much of a hassle, I don't think," he smiled, slightly ashamed that he didn't know more. But his father could possibly have something to say..

"No problem," he laughed, his spirits lifted again at her excitement. "Just don't let me down." It sounded serious, but his eyes shone to show that he would forgive her easily if she made a mistake. Not everyone was perfect at something their first time around, and he knew and understood that. Nothing would really happen to the lioness if she couldn't handle these cubs.

Asi listened to Tamu's words to Saf, not really knowing if he should speak up or not. He barely knew the three cubs, so... well he did know some things about them. "Well... one lil'girl is very 'appy an'er mum's death..." He hesitated. "Well, she do no be so upset by it. An' one o'the lil'boys... well 'e be real upset by it.. bu'opefully 'e will no take negatively teh a nanny, eh?"

His tail flicked and he looked from Tamu and Saf, wondering if they were done here.

((Is it okay if i wrap up things here? ^^))

Safiya heard Asi's words and understood them, but thought she'd rather meet the cubs and find out their personalities herself.

It seemed their business had been concluded. Unable to think of anything she may need to discuss, she bowed her head and politely said, "Thank you once again for this opportunity, King Tamu." Turning to Asi, "I think I'll go hunt me down some lunch. How bout I come find you later and you can introduce me to the little ones?" She assumed he would agree. Her stomach was rumbling, motivating her. So she turned and ambled away from the group, idly wondering where the best spots to hunt in this place were.

"Aye sure." He muttered softly, rising and slipping away from the two, off to do some thinking.

Tamu smiled at his father and at the lioness, though it was awkward. It was strange, assigning a babysitter to his half-siblings. It felt weird because he didn't know them, and neither did his father it seemed. He wondered at that, but shook his head to clear the thoughts. He didn't need things that like bugging him now.

He dipped his head in farewell to both of the other lions. Then he sat there, watching them leave. Once they were both out of sight, he rose to his paws and went off to check the borders.

(( End? XD ))
