Anyway.
I edit movies. I make movies. I spend my time doing things like that. You can't do that with a PC. Or at least, not NEARLY as good as with a mac. Why don't you leave gaming to the consoles?

Pfft. PCs can and do run video editing applications just as well as an Apple computer can.

While it used to be true that macs held the upperhand, now PCs are getting pretty equal.

You forget that Avid, the industry standard for longer timelines, runs on a Windows OS.

And while Final Cut Pro may be awesome, Adobe is getting better with it's products. It abandoned the dual-OS compatibility and built Premiere from the ground up again. Pro 2 still has error but I'm sure by Pro 3 they'll get them all worked out and the program will be just as versatile if not moreso than FCP.

Not to forget free editors. People seem to think that iMovie is the end all be all of included editing programs, but Windows Movie Maker, event hough it technically is less stable, has WAAY more features and possibilities than iMovie ever did and probably ever will.

The problem I'm running into right now for Video Prod, however, is there is simply a lot of brand loyalty. Editors like Apple. Since I custom built my PC specifically for editing, and run on an AMD processor rather than an Intel(silly me for not thinking ahead) I cannot run the Mac OS and therefore cannot run any of Apple's programs.

I am already jumping through hoops to keep the current gig I have because I do not have a Mac. I have to edit everything in FCP at school so the guy I'm working for can access the project files(I am co-editor on this project and do the basic cutting, while he'll ultimately refine it).

The whole reason Apple's became "better" in the beginning, for video editing, at least, I think, is because in the beginning, their processors ran better, faster, and more efficiently. Run at the same speed on a regular chip would be slower on a PC. Now that Macs are using Intel chips, now, it's not really the same(mostly).

Plus, Macs are of course more expensive, and thus are the minority. Because of this, not many viruses are written for them. It is customary that if you have an editing suite you DO NOT HOOK IT TO THE INTERNET NO MATTER WHAT.

Because if you do, it'll slow your machine down. Even if you're not browsing, you can still contract viruses, worms, trojans, miscellaneous malware, and slow down your computer.

On a mac, you don't have to worry about these (as much) because of the lack of malware written for them(although you still have the virtual memory loss from extra apps being open).

As far as Macs and Windows go, I like them both.

But it is still way too hard to customize parts inside of a Mac, and I have far too many programs that are Windows only to deal with right now on making the switch.

Regardless, I still may end up getting some sort of macbook or something so I can at least TRY and edit at home with FCP instead of wasting several hours at school on lacklustre, used and not-fully-guaranteed machinery.
