Mufasa yawned lightly. He was careful not to lose the sound of the grasses as Hantu pushed through them. He did careful to keep a keen ear listening her padding foreward as well.

"Hmm?" Mufasa asked from behind the ghost-like lioness. "I'm still here." He just nodded to her other statement.

The cub's chocolate eyes glanced up to the rock. He blinked at it then looked back to Hantu. "Alright," he said.

Hantu nodded, and then her eyes softened as she met Mufasa's gaze in the night. She could see his outline, sure, but everything else was black... apart from one thing, the wet glisten of the healthy young lion's eyes.

"This way," she murmed, "It's just over here. Follow my voice and footsteps, if you can."

Slowly, she made her way over towards the edge of the rock. Tenderly, she placed a paw on top of it, to make sure that it was safe. A few rocks fell down, scattering beneath her weight... but otherwise, it didn't move. Eyes gleaming, she deemed it safe... and gave a small attempt at a roar to let Mufasa know where she was.

"Rar!"

It was pathetic, but kind of cute in a way. Hantu smiled, and looked over the rock. There it was.

"Mufasa," she breathed, her breath taken away by the sheer wonder of the place before her, "Look."

There, just underneath them, the ground dropped away. Down this steep hill, the glisten of water could be seen... a small waterhole! There was nobody around, either... nobody, except for the brilliant, bright lights of the fireflies. And there were tons of them... maybe hundreds. Bright, yellow lights in a sea of blackness.

"Let's get closer," Hantu laughed, and she leapt off the rock, running full speed ahead down the hill and towards the water.

Mufasa chuckled after hearing her small, otherwise cute, rawr.

He came up beside her andlooked down the steep hill to see dazzling lights. His eyes widened slightly in amazement at the sheer sight of it all.

Mufasa blinked as Hantu started to run down the hill. She looked more like a ghost when she was running. He shok his head and started after her. He laughed as he ran, only speeding up to catch up with the ghost.

She turned, and by the light of the fireflies, she could see Mufasa more clearly. Again, she smiled... and what a beautiful smile it was. She felt happy - happy to have shared such a precious place, a treasured place, with someone who had only been a stranger a while ago.

She laughed, and pawed at a nearby firefly. Time to show Mufasa how to catch them.

"Be careful you don't fall in the water," she grinned, and bent into a crouch, ears flattened and eyes twinkling with anticipation, "I'll show you how to catch a firefly."

She stayed low, and waited until one of the wonderous insects floated above her. It didn't take long for it to come into the exact spot she wanted it, and she sprang up, batting it playfully with a paw. It flipped onto the group, stunned, and she caught it gently in her mouth.

She turned to Mufasa, and gave a full smile, showing her teeth. They lit up, the firefly's light shining from under her tongue. Snorting with laugher, she released it, and rolled over onto her side.

"Now you try!" she laughed. She didn't usually laugh like this. In fact, she never really laughed... a smile was rare, but a laugh was like a precious jewel.

Mufasa nodded, simply, staring at the water. He liked water. It symbolized a lot of things to him. The water looked brilliant with the lights from the fireflies casting off the water.

He looked back to Hantu as she spoke again. He grinned as she caught itin her mouth, and snorted in laugher as her teeth glowed up with the firefly's light.

"Alright," He said, mimicing her actions. He didn't wait long like she did either. He swipped to firefly from the air and watched it land on it's back.

He didn't catch it in his mouth as she did. He instead picked it up gently in his paws to let it's light shine on his face. He let it fly away when it wanted.

"You know," He started. "Since there is a lake here, I can show you how rain looks. Well... Sorta of anyways..." He said.

Hantu's eyes gleamed with respect as she saw how Mufasa treated the insects. Unlike her, he seemed to handle them with care... and reverred them, rather than saw them as a novelty.

"I could learn from you," she said softly, her own face lighting up as she stared at the firefly resting on Mufasa's forepaws. The light slowly crawled off as soon as the insect lifted into the air, and was gone.

It was exciting... the light of the fireflies flickered across the two lion's faces, but although the light was moving, it was constant. Dim light, but better than the pitch blackness. She smiled, and pulled to Mufasa's side as he strolled down to the water's edge.

"So, you can show me rain?" her eyes brightened, and she flicked her ears with excitement, "But how? You need to use... water?"

She looked at the waterhole. It was so still, and the water was so black.

"I can try anyway," he said as he used a paw to determin the deepness of the waterhole. It was shallow but he didn't dare go in further.

Mufasa sat where the water could touch him. He balanced on his rump to seem as if he was almost standing.

"Rain is when water falls to the ground. It looks a lot better in the day time..." He said softly as he gazed at the fireflies.

"Tell me when your ready..." he said taking some water in his paws.

Only when she was ready did he fling the water up into the air. It looked a little different from rain to him. For one, there was a lot less water in this then when it usually rained.

And it was nighttime.

Mufasa may have reasoned that the rain of the day was much better than his own simulation, but Hantu didn't know any better. She looked in wonder as Mufasa scooped up the still water. Breathless, she watched as he hurled the Still Wet into the air... the droplets seemed to hang in suspense for a minute, and then she watched them fall - fall, against a pitch black sky. Yet, they shone as they cascaded downwards, glinting in the moonlight, and Hantu let out a delighted growl as they splashed cooly onto her face, and dripped down her chin.

"So this is what rain is like," she said, her heart beating fast, "It's wonderful. And the real thing would be... just... amazing."

She usually didn't speak with such an excited tone, nor did she project her feelings out quite as loud. But she couldn't help herself... Mufasa had shown her something really wonderful. It just made her more aware of how little she knew of the world, and how young a cub she was.

"Wow," she huffed, looking up at him. He looked bigger than her, but still around the same age. Not yet an adult, after all.

With a devilish grin, she dipped her own paw into the water. It was cool.

"Can you enter it?" she asked, wondering whether Mufasa could swim.

Mufasa grinned. "Rain is amazing," he said. Rain was amazing to him. Everthing about rain was stunning.

"Enter it?" He asked. "I've never tried..."

Well, he never was around a real wateringhole. He lived off of puddles and such. He never really swam.

Mufasa used his paw to disturb the water and create ripplets.

"Have you ever entered it?" he asked curiously. Maybe she did, then he would be able to learn from her.

"Not me, personally," she nodded, then shot Mufasa a smile, "Although I've heard stories. Swimming in the Still Wet."

She dipped her paw in again, tenderly. She wanted to try swimming.

"Maybe another time," she sighed, and pulled her paw out. She'd drown if she leapt in now. You needed to learn first, and with proper support.

"Mufasa," she shot him a sparkling green gaze, one that spoke of immense gratitude, "Thanks for showing me what rain is like. I can't wait until it really comes."

She yawned. It was getting late. Come sunrise, and her parents would be looking for her. She'd have a lot of explaining to do if she was found to be missing.

"It's time to go," she whispered, "I'm expected back at sunrise."

Mufasa nodded. "You're welcome," He said politely. Rain was a wonderous thing. He had to share it. He already shared it with Uovu, so he would share it with Hantu as well.

But he wanted to show her real rain. But that could wait, he guessed. A simulation would work fine for right now.

He tilted his head as she yawned. "Alright..." he said. "Get some rest."

He smiled and looked up at the sky. It was true that sunrise wasn't far off. He grinned and looked back to the ghost-like lioness. "I hope to see you again, Hantu."

Hantu, too, wished to see Mufasa again. As the light broke out over the line of the horizon, she turned to pad away. Then, a spot of something... wet, it was... and it had come from...

The sky?

Looking up, the young lioness managed a gasp - it was just like Mufasa had shown her. Only a sprinkle, though... the rain fell soft onto her pelt, and splittered gently onto the ground, making brown spots in the sand.

"A sunshower," she marvelled, as the sun poked it's head above the horizon's line, "Or, at least... a dawnshower."

She turned back to look at Mufasa, and took in the beautiful scent of moist, freshly fallen rain. Was this an omen of some kind?
She couldn't speak, as she was just so impressed. What luck! The gods had shined on the young lioness today, and for that she felt thankful.

"Mufasa-" she started, and stopped as she heard him call out:

"I hope to see you again, Hantu."

She smiled one of her rare smiles at this, and gave a distinct nod of her head in agreement.

"Me too, Mufasa," she whispered, slinking off towards home and taking with her the memories of a wonderful night, "Me too."
