"I don't... remember you..."

There was a small bitter pang. It was foolish to think they had a huge connection, Zavier realized, but still hearing those words hurt a little.

"No... no you wouldn't remember me. I was born after you, it was almost fall when I came into this world." Zave explained. "Now Aki has brought you back to the labs. If it's alright, may I ask who you are?"

Tsu almost dropped his stethoscope on the ground with a clatter as he tried to warm it up a little bit before using on the raevan. Had he gone senile? "Zave..." Tsu hissed lowly, "Didn't I tell you, this is Melisande! Have you forgotten that much already?!"

Zave turned to look at Tsu, but did not respond to his accusations. During this time, he still continued to float beside the table that was serving as a bed for the other raevan.

Turning back to the other raevan he explained, "Tsu is warming up something to listen to your heartbeat right now. Pretty soon he will place it to your chest, let us know if it's still too cold."

As the other Raevan confirmed, that subtle ghost of a smile reappeared...head still resting in the crook of her elbow. She didn't remember him, he was new.

They'd never met. He'd never been cruel.

Her fingers stretched, but her hand didn't lift from the bed. She was so tired. "Z...Zae." Pasha shortened his name to a breath, eyes still upon his face. Just for a moment, her lips curved, and a pink petal settled upon her cheek as she smiled. "My heart?" It seemed a bit of a surprise, as though the Frei hadn't been sure she had one at all.

Aki settled her hand on Melisande's shoulder, smoothing the edge of her garment down enough to expose a swath of the Frei's delicate chest...just enough for a clear heartbeat. It took her a moment to see the petal upon the girl's cheek, and Aki picked it up with careful fingers. Pink. Pasha's roses were almost white! Where had it...?

The subtle ghost of a smile returned to her face. She seemed so guarded when she first came in... and finally she seems a little more at ease. Zavier breathed a small sigh of relief to see that smile... but something odd caught his eye.

Aki must have seen it too, as she removed a pink petal from the Raevan's face.

"Yes, your heart. Of course you have one, else you wouldn't be able to feel. Right? Pain, happiness, all of those are from your heart." Zave reassured. "Feel free to rest as well. We won't go anywhere."

"What's that in your hand Aki?" Tsu looked over at the owner that was still seeming to stare at the object she picked off her charges face.

Aki smoothed it between her thumb and forefinger gently. "Just...a petal." She held it up for the doctor slowly, resting on her fingertip. The edges curled slightly, pink fading outward to white.

Rest. That sounded good to Pasha. Hand relaxing as she let her eyes close, she settled back upon the bed. The smile had vanished, but a hint of rosy color framed her pale face. Tattered ruffles and mussed curls fanned delicately upon the crisp sheet as she sank. "Always tomorrow~" The words were gently spoken as Melisande finally settled.

Nodding silently, Aki gave Tsu the go ahead to continue with his work. Meli could rest a while, if she needed too.

"Hmmm... interesting." Tsu said, taking a small note that the pink seemed to spread from the inside but not reach the outer side of white. Weren't her roses white for the most part anyway? Getting a signal from Aki, Tsu decided that was hardly the time to worry about things, and decided to continue just doing a physical check up.

It seemed to him that more of the problems that were presented would be on a more emotional level. However, he was unsure how the manifestation of her power occurred exactly.

"I really hate to force you to recall anything unpleasant, but I would like to find out exactly what was said before this happened." Tsu looked at Aki out of concern, but also a somewhat stern gaze on his face. "My brother sometimes speaks of majicks and the principle that words can hold powers. Did Melisande have say much before the color started to sap from her?"

Zave just floated there looking on. There was something grand even about the way that Meli seemed to sink onto the sheets. It reminded him the way a tissue were to be put down on a table, not so much of a messy wad, but something that flowed into place.

"Always tomorrow? What does that mean? Will there be hope for that... or...?" He had so many questions and wanted Tsu or Aki to answer them all.

Aki's lips parted, and closed again. There had been something, some sad song, but she didn't remember the words. Something about rain, something about...

Pasha's voice was quiet, barely a whisper. It was as though the words drifted from her, lips moving only out of memory. Trails of pink trickled again down each cheek, one cutting across the brige of her nose as she lay motionless on her side.

Do you think
It will be enough
Everything I am~
All the silence
Between hello and goodbye,
What does it mean to them?~

In the distance
and over the days,
I'd imagined something new~

Perhaps the rain
can wash it all away~
And I'll be cold like you...

There was something almost hopeful in her quiet voice, as though the Frei wished the rains would come, and bring a new day with them. Aki shivered, hands on her upper arms, and gazed down sadly at the fading Frei. Quietly, almost unheard, the gentle patter of rain on the rooftop above edged into the silence.

"That was it. That night, she'd spent outside...watching the sea. It was after she'd seen the others...but that's all I know. She never told me what happened." The elf's voice was full of sadness, wringing her hands as she watched Meli's chest rise shallowly with each spaced breath.

Pasha was still watching Zavier, eyes drawn to the comfort of his gentle blue. There had been someone else there, someone kind, in blue that night...and the color echoed in her brilliant and tired eyes. Blue was a lovely color...

Zave's gaze was a little sad at the lines of the song Melisande sang. Sure there was hope there, but also the sadness rang through clearly. Even as the verse finished, he could hear the patter of rain drops falling gently on the roof. That too spoke of a hope that the rain would bring a new tomorrow.

"The rains don't have to make you cold inside." Zave said softly. "From the soft patter of rain that soothes the body, to the warm rains that just clean off the grime and leave everything fresh. So much more than something cold and forbidding."

"Aki, did I read my brother's notes right? Does this raevan have something to do with the passing of Aria D'Pash? That was a brutal end to a tragic opera if I remember correctly. I thought the muse was only fabled though. If that is the case, perhaps an overnight observation will be needed. You are welcome to watch on of course." Tsu looked at Aki with unwavering eyes.

Eyes wide, Aki listened to Tsu closely...lips pressed tightly together. Blessedly, Melisande's eyes were closed, and the Frei appeared to be at rest.

"I...haven't...told her that story. Not in full." His notes were correct, but it was a story yet untold for Melisande. Dr. Tsu had said more in the last minute than Aki had ever revealed to the girl.

Pasha listened absently to the rain, Zae's words distant and comforting, even if she didn't focus on what he was saying. She was exhausted, and the words blended together into a murmur against the backdrop of the steady patter.

"Doctor, things aren't...getting better. So if you need her here longer, or anything else, well. I think it needs to be done." Aki crossed her arms, rubbing at her shoulders as though she were cold. There was a lot she hadn't told Meli, but to what end? Surely information like that wasn't going to help her!

Tsu had berated Zave for being insensitive and absent minded not more than a few minutes ago, and now something like this? He was the one that could be absent minded and insensitive easily... like father like son... or something similar.

"I- I'm sorry." He realized too late that maybe there was good reason for keeping that story down quiet. A new life would be nice. "I thought there... might have been some connection between then and now... but that shouldn't be the case."

Pinching between his eyes, Tsu let out a long sigh. "To tell the truth, raevans coming in with such rare conditions such as losing their color is something new. I guess one of the drawbacks of experiments is the unexpected result. The only thing I can suggest is that the words of a muse can inspire these changes so to speak. Has your Melisande shown anything like the inspiration through song before?"

Zave grew drowsy as the rain water pattered across the roof. It was oddly soothing, and he felt his eyes start to close despite themself. Finding a comfortable chair to float above, he let himself drift off.

Aki's tension faded as she realized Melisande was at rest. So was Zavier, it seemed, and she was glad for it. Motioning Tsu to the side, she kept her voice a low, casual level. Whispers only attracted attention.

"You know, you might be right. She doesn't know that story, and that kind of thing....well. It doesn't just fade away, even when things change. Maybe there is a connection."

Pausing for a moment, still gazing at the listless Frei, Aki shook her head. When she turned her eyes again to Tsu, kindness crinkled the edges of her gaze. "I'm sorry if I was rude." Her hand settled for a moment on his upper arm, offering a gentle touch of apology before it fell. "My son...left. I haven't been there for them, not like they need. I'm worried about..."

About losing Pasha, as well. That much was obvious. Thinking on the doctor's words, Aki nodded to herself. "This isn't the first time, but she was happy, then. It's always something small, or temporary...but it's like the whole world lights up when she sings." She remembered the fireflies, dancing in the garden, where there had been no fireflies before. "So, I suppose if she's unhappy..."

The rain continued to fall, a distant and whispered patter. When a muse such as Melisande cried, did the heavens truly cry with her?

Tsu kept his tones comforting and low for the sake of Aki as well. "Although I do not have the experience of a child leaving my house, I can only imagine how painful it is. The fact that you are aware of that case and are looking to change brings me more confidence you'll be a wonderful parent for Melisande."

"It's amazing about the sort of connections we don't realize on a physical level. Still there are memories that are never erased over time. Just pressed down until a later time. There may be a chance that it is awakened in each one of our raevans - or children if you will. Please don't miss the opportunity to help Melisande deal with it if or when that time comes."

He gave Aki a wan smile, and returned to the business at hand, "Well... I suggest we take the same hints from the raevans and get comfortable. This observation period will most likely just tire us out if we stand the entire time. Let's see if we can bring about that happier time once more. It'll be a challenge, but well worth it if we succeed."

He was wise, and Aki appreciated his kind words. Nodding, she followed his suggestion and found a chair for herself, not realizing how tired she was until the weight was off her feet.

"Just...let me know what I should do." Meli was resting at the moment, but that's all the Raevan usually did. She simply drifted, half asleep, as though hoping the next day would be better.

Sleepy at the thought, Aki's ears trembled as she yawned behind her hand. "It will be worth it," She mumbled, once she caught her breath again. "Just to see her smile."

One of Meli's arms was outstretched, settled across the bed as she lay. Slowly, she drew it inward, as though an invisible teddy bear had settled into the crook of her arm, and curled slightly into herself. Even in a room full of people, the muse looked terribly alone.

Tsu sat there thinking for a moment while the blonde haired raevan seemed to be cuddling with an invisible object. "This may sound like common sense, or something you've already tried, but have you done some things that she enjoys?" Tsu finally piped up. "Even if it is a brief distraction at the time, might help the raevan find something that brings her true joy."

He looked at his own raevan, floating with eyes closed in a chair next to the bed. As if guarding the other from an intruder that might come to destroy her slumber. "I know that Zave over there enjoys things that go fast - albeit not very safe - he loves the feeling of wind through his hair. He also has a tendency to wander off to the beach alone when he is upset and needs space to think. Each case is different for each raevan obviously... and it seems to be based off their personality and the essence they were born from. Can you recall any habits like those with Meli?"

"She used to like being with the others. Now, when she sees them..." Aki sighed. Meli had cringed, simply upon meeting Zavier. She was sure the only reason Pasha was still in the same room as the other Frei was simply because they'd never met.

"She enjoys the sweet things in life, and loves when they're offered as gifts. I've rarely seen her ask for anything." Folding her arms, saddened at not being able to come up with other ideas, Aki shook her head. "I don't know. But if I don't find a way to show her that the world is waiting..."

Her voice was quiet, eyes still upon the resting Frei. "I think she'll just fade away."

Something about what Aki was talking about stuck out in Tsu's mind. "She used to like the company of the other raevans, and now she shies away from them... Have you heard anything about how she reacts to being alone or rejected?" He was puzzling things out aloud. "I'll have to get Zave to talk to the other raevans, but obviously it was something one... if not all... of them did that makes her upset and shut into herself around them." Tsu finally said. It seemed that the events of that night had the biggest piece to this puzzle, and they wouldn't get very far without it.

"To be honest, I think it's a nice gesture to give her a lot of the sweet things in life. Especially since she's seemed to have it rough before too. Hopefully a few of us can show that we're waiting for her. It doesn't lie just on you, but on those that care for her and wish her well."
