I have an anime club at my school. It was fun my freshmen year, but when sophmore year came, all the new bossy little freshmen came in. All the wanted was to watch anime in the dubbed version. Which I cannot stand. So I just decided to quit going because I couldn't stand hearing the annoying dubbed voices. I decided to just watch my anime at home so I can watch it the way I want to watch it. razz

Our school has one, but since it's an officially recognized school club, it appears in the yearbook, which means every year the last few days of school shouts of, "Japanese porn!" can be heard throughout the halls at least once every time classes change. We also have a trading card club, which I attended for Magic: The Gathering playing, but it pretty much turned into "freshman Yu-Gi-Oh fanboy/yaoi fangirl club", so I stopped going.

Growing up, I was a member (and still am, actually) or the Kitty Anime Club in Japan but they only had promotional events in Tokyo, not actual club meetings. Through a pen pal, I found out about the Cartoon/Fantasy Organization based in LA and joined. That was way back before anime was coimmercially available (the 1970's... geez, I'm old).
Much later, I founded the Bay Area Animation Society with a few friends so that we could share all the cool anime I was getting with other people and held monthly meetings starting back in 1991. We turn 15 next year...

I used to go to every meeting. Now the club is inexistent because all they want to do is watch anime and to do that, they need a working computer from the computer club.

I was president of one for two years in high school. Couldnt do much, there was no funding and the members weren't mature enough to contribute anything.
Tried out the Japanese Cultural Association in freshman year of college, it was better, but all they did was watch Naruto. Not my idea of fun.
There's not much a club can offer that I can't do on my own.

I'd join an anime club if there was one in my area. The only ones I know of are for high school or college students only.

Sadly, there isn't one... the closest thing to one is the Japanese club. But that doesn't really FOCUS on just anime. Oh well. I'd love to join one....
