I have two "other" names.
One is a name that I chose for myself. It changes occasionaly, if I see that my old name no longer describes me.
Another is a name that just came to me one day and has not changed. I consider it a natural name of mine. Maybe it's my true name, I don't know.

My name has been coming to me in bits and pieces. I'm not sure where exactly they come from, but it always happens in study hall.
However, I do have a problem with a magical name.
I was bored and was anagraming the phrase No Hope. Yes, I got the idea from KH2. Anyway, the name I came up with was Eponoh. I like the name and it speaks to me, but I don't feel that it describes who I am.

I've heard that you can have many magickal names. Like one you use known only to your coven, one thats just between you and the goddess etc.
I chose my magickal name using the numbering system. I don't know if anyone explained it on here already, but it's where every letter has a corresponding number and you add up your full birth name and date of birth and keep adding your result together until you get one number. And then your magickal name should equal the same number.

I have one of those names. I used stupid numerology to check it to make sure it was 'mine'. I do get offended when people address me by that name though.
To me it is a big insult to call me by my true name then to call me by my birth name. I usually tell everyone to just call me Miranda. >< If people try to call me by my other name I get alittle ticked. and all I can really think of is "who do they think they are being so damn familiar with me".
Thats my opinion though.

The only one who knows my other name so far is a very very very very good friend of mine. And she calls me by that name just as I call her by her other name.
Mostly, I play around with pagan name generators (might not be completely accurate, but they give me inspiration), baby name websites/books, and mixing up letters of words or phrases. Or I just throw letters of the alphabet together, or take a name that I like and just modify the spelling.
Granted, these are techniques that I use to name my characters when I write or roleplay, but they have helped me find my other name.

I dont know if I have one, I have a name I came up with, Angellus (dont dare thinking about Angelus, the demonside of Angel xd ) which means Messenger. Or Draakje, which is Little Dragon in Dutch, this one is both of me and my girlfriend (we call eachother that mrgreen ) Or is it just something that cant hurt you, and cant help you if you just dont belive in it...? (Is'nt that so with every magic?)

Actually, no, it isn't. Contrary to popular opinion, belief or lack thereof has absolutely no bearing on the effectiveness of magick. Those who do not believe in magick are actually more susceptible to being effected by it -- since they don't believe in it, they don't think they need to protect against it and are completely unaware of the "symptoms" of having magick worked upon them. And even those who don't believe in it can use it effectively (though their belief may CHANGE once they accomplish thier magickal goal successfully).
As for whether or not your True Name (or any other name, for that matter) can be used to help or hinder you ... if you are smart enough to keep yourself magickally protected, there is nothing to worry about. If you are also smart enough to automatically allow any helpful magick or energy to come through, regardless of the source or method, then that's even better.

one of the rules with your magick name is its supposed to correspond with your number. this is how you find out your number.
you look at your birthdate first. for example mine is june 16 1992.
which is 6/16/1992
then you add them.
6 + 1 + 6 +1 +9 +9 +2 = 34 then you add again.
3+4 = 7
so my number is 7.
you have to keep adding until you get a number 1- 9
now you find a name that appeals to you and if it corresponds with your number it can be your name.
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z
okay, so my magick name, the first name, is adrienne.
a = 1 d = 4 r = 9 i = 9 e = 5 n = 5 n = 5 e = 5
so I add again, 1 + 4 +9 +9 +5 +5 +5+5 = 43. 4 + 3 = 7.
this way, you are more spiritually connected to the name because it is attatched to your number. I have studied into this for a long time and as far as I know you can tell people your magick name without being afraid someone will hex you. some people just prefer not to tell people and to keep it more personal. it is really up to you. but remember to use your real name too!

It strikes me that a magical name isn't really a "magical name" if you just make it up. It has to be given to you somehow... One of my friends desired one when I was tutoring him about magic....So I gave him one. I was given mine as a sign from my God and Goddess, Hephaestus and Mother Gaea. It was a vision of a acid green Eyes with a blue gem where the iris and pupil should have been. I have taken the name Blind Lapis.

You can also use your full birth name for numerology.
