Shaha shook himself lightly as if ridding his coat of insects. "That I am. It's much to tight in here for my tastes," he said, chuckling. He let her take the leader's role once more, knowing she knew the way better than he did. A jungle...
"You wouldn't by any chance know any good stories about this jungle, would you?" he asked, wondering if she could add a few to the small hoard in his mind.

Matawi thought about this while they began their way out of the jungle. Stories? What kind of stories might she have? She knew of a pair of lions that plyayed all day, but that was something short of interesting, but it was the only thing she could think of.
"Well..." She started, "There are two lions, a male and a female, that played everyday while I still lived here. I would wake up in the morning to them walking through the jungle together, laughing. I always thought it odd. A rather large male walking in front of a petite female. They never had probloms getting through anything. They helped eachother." She paused and took a breath.
"But one day I awkoke to an upset sound from the lage striped male. He had lost his girl and seemed distrought. It must have been a week or two later before he found her. His sadness and worry turne to love and care. He watched her everyday. Then I left. And I bet he still watches her."
She eyed Shaha and laughed. "Just like you watch me all the time."

Shaha grinned at her story. "The Watchful Eye. I like it," he said, but his grin faltered slightly. Only for a moment, though.
"Just like me, eh? Well, I guess it's probably getting annoying huh, me playing the watchful sentry all the time?" he asked as they walked back towards the clear grasses.
"I know I'd look all over for you if you just up and dissappeared. I made a promise, and I intend to keep it," he added with a slow nod. Besides, it was nice having company, and she was his friend. Of course he would feel worried if she went missing.

Matawi couldn't help but laugh. "Watchful eye you say? I would have never guessed that you might name it." she teased him and offered up a small smile.
She shook her head. "Annoying? Never. If anything having me by your side would get annoying. I'm always so bubbly and full of energy. I like having something to tell me when I could get hurt or lost."
The trees were begining to thin out as they were leaving the jungle. It was a good thing that Matawi hadn't lived to far in the dense trees or it might have taken a day or two to get in and out. Instead of only an hour or two.
"Well then, I guess I will just have to stay around so I don't worry that fluffy head of yours! So... Back to travling?"

"Naming them gives them a sense of being. Besides," Shaha paused and looked at her, "It's easier to remember."
"Full of energy doesn't bother me. Lets me unwind a bit," he addressed her second statement and smiled. He was starting to become fond of Matawi, a little like she was a younger sister or something. Someone to look out for and the like.
"Ah, I am fluffy, aren't I? You know, I used to envy the cheetah males I met. They never had to deal with a bunch of fluffy getting in their faces when they ran." His laughter bubbled out of his chest as he shook the deep orange mane once more out of his eyes.
"Yes. To wherever our paws take us," he finished as they came out of the lush jungle and into the sun. After walking in the confines of the forest, the large storyteller really needed to stretch his legs. With a grin and a lash of his tail, he sprang off over the grasses, his strides long and smooth as he ran.
"Come on, Matawi! First one to the horizon wins!"
